I found another really simple trick to greatly improve my wifi connection - by moving the firestick out from behind the TV using an HDMI extender cable, it made a significant difference. By using a longer extender vs directly into the port (or the short extender that comes with the stick) it will give you more variability to locate the stick where the signal will not be impeded by the physical aspect of the TV. I quadrupled my speed with this.
Good information, I have ordered the ethernet adapter even though I don't really need it lol. My TV is wired, my cube uses 5ghz WiFi. It will come in handy to test my broadband speed via my laptop (which doesn't have an ethernet port), my speed is guaranteed to be 450 mbs, it is 1gb fibre broadband.
Tanya do you have a better labeled diagram showing how the OTG cable and Ethernet adapter connect to the fs and it’s power supply? You moved through that fairly fast and I’m a bit confused. Thanks! PS it’s a good thing you didn’t wear your xxx apps outfit or we’d ALL be confused! 😂
Tbh I have a 3rd party 100mb ethernet adapter and it works just fine. I don't think I'd do the gigabit one only because I'm always doing one thing at a time. Either video from Netflix or video from TH-cam. More than sufficient for stuff like that.
Hi Tanya. I have recently gone full fibre. I have a wired connection to my TV/Firebox. It is currently Cat 5 but am I right in thinking that I will need to rewire with Cat 6 cable to get above 10 mbps to my Firebox?
Quick question: I have as well a gigabit service and I'm also having a mesh thru-out my home with wired back-channel which gives me readings in any given spot of ~900 up and down. The question is that I'm getting about 324 wireless and 330 wired on my latest generation stick. Do you mind explaining the hardware limitations? Thank you!
@@FireTVSticks Thanks for getting back. The only explanation is the stick hardware limitation as described in your video at 480, since the hardware I use is identical you the one you describe here. Also, Nord will take it down further to about 90. IPVanish did the same... Thanks and take care!
Thank you for the reply. One thing I'd also like to know is if I wanted to exceed the 100mbps limit on the amazon official adapter, why do I specifically need to purchase two adapters to make it work? The usb to ethernet and the otg cable? I've seen other 3rd party adapters that look like the amazon official one by ZEXMTE or ELECTOP. Are thise fake or unreliable?
@tanya can you show us your speed u r getting ? Wifi The max I only get is like 350mbps. Just wondering if you or anybody else is getting above 400mbps. I’m getting 350 using the method u gave on this video. Looking forward to hearing from u
Hello! In the video, I showed how I tested the speed of my Firestick at various points. I mentioned that USB 2.0 ports have a maximum speed of 480Mbps. However, it is unlikely that the Firestick can achieve that theoretical maximum speed. In fact, the maximum speed that can be achieved on a Firestick is around 350Mbps.
It's possible that your internet connection may slow down a bit when you use a VPN server. There are several factors that can impact the speed of your VPN connection, including: The server load. The quality of the VPN service you're using. The distance between you and the server. The speed of your original internet connection. Whether or not your ISP provider is intentionally slowing down your VPN connection or your entire connection if you're using a lot of bandwidth. To get the best speed, it's always recommended to connect to a server closest to your location. You can also try the tips in this video (th-cam.com/video/sJvaQC3k63Q/w-d-xo.html) to adjust your VPN settings to increase the speed.
@@FireTVSticks Hi Tanya, Thanks for the suggestions on how to increase the speed when on my VPN which just happens to be IP vanish, I had forgotten these settings thanks for the reminder .
HI Tanya, I bought all the adapters but it works [I have to reboot the firestick]then it stops working after a while. I also bought a 6.0 gig cable just in case..
As far as I know, a software update "broke" ADB Debugging which has affected Mouse Toggle. I'm not sure if/when it will be fixed. In the interim, it's a good idea to check this out as an alternative: th-cam.com/video/iU7v41IFtug/w-d-xo.html.
Your isp will say that you're getting 1 G but it doesn't mean that every device receives the full 1G. The connected devices split the 1G evenly. If you have a fire stick and a cell phone, both are only receiving half the 1G to even things out. Add another cell phone for the spouse and now with 3 devices, each is only getting 1/3 of that 1G. Think of it like a gallon of water. 1 person gets the entire gallon. If you have to split that up with a lot of people like a party, that's a small cup for each person

Hi Tanya. I would like to know seeing your video and the set-up, the end of the USB 3.0 gigabit Ethernet adapter is connected to what cable? I am really not a computer savvy. For the other connections with the firestick, all my wiring follows your set-up except for the last wire that i do not know what you have connected to the adapter? I am very sorry for not being a computer brain. I really like your videos and thank you again.

Thank you for great information..I see you have a rock space router..I got one because of you..I love it
Thank you for this very informative video. Will the otg adapter work on the very latest firestick.
Yes
Great video has always Tanya. Good to see you.

Yes, as mentioned in the video, 100mb is more than enough for adequate streaming 😊👍❤️
Thanks for the valuable information!😊
My pleasure 😊
Just to be sure , the ethernet cable that plugs into the adaptor is the one normally plugged into the back of the TV ?
The ethernet cable connects one end to your router and the other end to the device you want to hardwire to the Internet.
Hi Tanya. I have recently gone full fibre. I have a wired connection to my TV/Firebox. It is currently Cat 5 but am I right in thinking that I will need to rewire with Cat 6 cable to get above 10 mbps to my Firebox?
Hi, yes, as Cat5 is limited to 100Mbps, you should upgrade to Cat5e or Cat6.

Thanks Tanya, I’m assuming Firecube 2nd generation has a faster port speed, than a Fire Stick am I wrong?
The Fire Cube 2nd gen has a micro-USB 2.0 port, the same as the Firestick.
Good video Tanya more outtakes Tanya.😊

Would the adaptor and cable work the same on a fire cube?
Yes

If it's not working for you, I'm currently looking at an alternate solution and will post details soon.
Nice info tanya❤❤❤🎉🎉
How do you get an ethernet speed reading on your firestick, I have tried everything and can't find a way of getting it?
Download any speed test app from the app store. I recommend Analiti.
Thank you!! Beautiful!!! FanMan 😍👍👍❤
Hi there. I asked a question recently on one of your recent videos on mouse toggle but you haven't replied. How can I get your help please on this
As far as I know, a software update "broke" ADB Debugging which has affected Mouse Toggle. I'm not sure if/when it will be fixed. In the interim, it's a good idea to check this out as an alternative: th-cam.com/video/iU7v41IFtug/w-d-xo.html.

Thanks once again, Amazon certainly do not make things straightforward
Does this work with fire cube
Yes, you can.
So beautiful and informative
Glad you think so!
