well it didn't help they used similarly shaped people. At first I thought they would have a picture of the typical Dane, a Brit, an Italian and.... i dunno a Russian and see if they knew they were different.
Lighting, makeup, hairstyle, and facial features are what's really fucking with your head - many, many of those pictures had people who had makeup on or were from completely different angles to change what sort of person they looked like.
It's a real life thing too: Actors, teachers, etcetra, put on lots of makeup - go home, take off, go shopping, nobody recognizes them.

I watched a movie with Zoey and the first season of her show, I've watched plenty Taylor Swift MV and am familiar with Kira Nightley's face more than with Natalie's. If I hadn't seen those people I would have been confused!
My prediction is that if I had never seen the people they picked I would have still gotten them right, but I would have taken more time, especially to stare at one or two certain pictures and analyse them.

I think I understand where you're coming from but since there are so many cultures, races, and ethnicities in the west, people look very different. Though, in this video, they used celebrities who look similar to each other. (I'm a westerner and I failed ll of these except for Katy Perry's)

My idea of westerner (in terms of North America and, more specifically, USA) isn't just white people, it includes people whose families have lived here for years (kinda like ancestry). But from what you're saying, yeah, I can't tell Europeans apart.
Well, yeah, the USA have a lot of ethnicities by now,and so have the European states, but I felt like a lot of times, just like in the video, it means white people, and honestly, whites look very much alike.

I am a white American, I am familiar with many of these pop icons and I had to rewind to check quite few times to make sure they were wrong because I thought a few of them were correct! This was not a fair test, they chose some very difficult photos that many Americans not completely obsessed with pop culture would also get wrong. I knew at least one if not all actors in each set and still had to pause and study some of the photos. I would like to see them present the same test to Americans though maybe add a time limit, like 15 seconds to group the pictures and see how many get it wrong.

Tf im norwegian and my dad side of my family are living in sweden, what You are asking right now is fucking ridiculous, in European the way people are only telling each other apart is by the Accent, trust me I had my teacher who came from Poland we heard her accent, we definitely knew which country she come from. Not everybody have the accents but majority does and that’s how we tell them apart because hunny....is like saying you have to look at Canadian and America people, and you are supposed to tell them apart by looking at them like...bitch wtf

Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry is damn near impossible for even white folks, if you can't see the boobs or a crazy outfit they are damn near identical. And Keira Knightley actually played Natalie Portman's decoy double in Star Wars and filled in for many of her shots. Some of these would be hard even for people of the same race and familiar with the actors.

I'm Chinese and I do find it very hard to differentiate between who's who amongst white or black people, definitely a lot easier for me to differentiate between people who are Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc.
True. I don't see how Asians can't be told apart. Asians have the most diverse population because we can either be super chubby, or Skeleton like. Extremely dark skin, tan skin, milky white skin, etc. Plus, our hair can be silky or very curly. (Indians usually have curliest hair.) But white people all have light skin, unless they stay in the sun long enough. And hair is always between curly and silky, and it's usually blonde or light brown. Black people all have dark skin and black hair. 😒 Damn, and we're the ones with small eyes.
Black people doesnt only have dark skin and black hair . Where i am from there are black people with natural brown hair,black hair,a kinda of gingery hair etc. and skin colour vary but they do not have white skin tone.

Yes if anything Asians are so much more diverse than people of European descent. We have Asians with a whole spectrum of skin colours ranging from pale to dark, people with single eyelids, hidden double and double eyelids, tall nose bridges and flat nose bridges, long, oval faces and wide flat faces etc.; the diversity of cranial shapes in Asia is just incredible. In Europe everyone pretty much has the same tall nose bridge, pale skin, double eyelid, deep set eyes look. The only difference between Italians & Spanish is probably just language and culture. Even then, the Italian language and Spanish language are both closely related to one another (Romance languages). In Asia on the other hand...
Currently I am only able to tell apart Eastern Europeans (eg Russians) from other Europeans because they do look slightly more distinct, in a way that I cannot pinpoint either.
