I've been replaying 3d sonic games to pass the time during this quarantine, and I'm now on Heroes. I gotta say, while not as polished as the Adventure games, it's funner than the first two games.

Secondly, just looked it up on the wiki, in all of the wikis I look up, they either refer to cheese as male, or genderless (but called male). Also little pieces of clothing can indicate a character's gender, such as bowties on the chest for males and a ribbon in the hair for females. Doesnt mean every character with a bowtie is male, they're just common indicators for fictional characters

To answer that question, Cheese was originally male, but recently, all Chao are referred with gender neutral terms.
