I just noticed a Dallas Business News Journal used your drone pictures (and attributed them to you). Congratulations on such a reputable source utilizing your photography. 🙌🏼☺️
There are a few drone people doing flyovers of this area, but you’re so far my favorite …because of the layovers!!! I love seeing the concept art superimposed over the construction areas!!! I’ve driven by the place every weekend since they started construction but a few weekends I was like “I think I’ll just wait till Texney’s drone video comes out”… I love ending my week of teaching by getting all worked up w/ coffee and donuts and then driving by it! I just stand on the corner of King George pkwy and Panther creek and drool w/ excitement…My hubby always says “Why are you wasting time staring at a pile of dirt ? “ Uhhhhhmmmm…. It’s not dirt. It’s the birthing ground if something phenomenal !!! The anticipation!!!! 🎉❤it’s a Saturday morning ritual… pick up my Twinkle Donuts’ maple cronut and strong coffee and head on over. Lol Thank you for all the amazing updates!
Thanks for the compliments. I will have to try Twinkle Donut sometime. Never been. My guilty pleasure is the fish at Long John Silvers, over in Little Elm. That’s my lunch treat, before heading off to Cobb Hills. I, of course, never want to park in front of anyone’s house, as I don’t want to give them any more reason not to like Universal. Unfortunately, that means a long walk to the very same corner you stand. I used to hang out in the field, but so much has been going on over at UKR that my signal keeps getting disrupted, so I’m forced to walk my drone all the way over there so I can be closer. Of course, after take off, I go somewhere else to hide. Don’t want to make it super obvious to the residents what I’m doing… …though with the way some HOAs run these days… …they must own drones too.
@ that’s quite a walk… I’ve talked to a couple residents, and some are actually excited, but you’re right about the parking deal… luckily the court right next to Panther Creek has so much parking available that I park across the street and consider it not ‘ directly’ in front. Lol I’m sure they’ve been entertained by me tripping on the huge elevated portion of the sidewalk while trying to film and walk at the same time. 🤣 Long John Silver’s fish is a hard yes! Actually, anything fried rocks my boat! ☺️
What do you mean? Like a preview center? The main entrance is basically done. My hope is that once signage, and traffic lights are up and functional, they can open up the new Universal Parkway, allowing access to the guest parking, where the temporary building is. I found it odd that they paved the parking for that building, even though it’s supposed to be temporary, but also, asphalt, since everything else is concrete. They may already have something there, but they aren’t announcing anything until they are ready to host outside visitors.
I'm sure alot of people are excited, both who live near and far away. I don't think there are any groups made yet. I am from Salina, OK and I have been over the moon since the first day they announced this!
Four and a half hour drive to Frisco. Are you planning on making a weekend trip out here when it opens? I imagine it will bring in a lot of centrally located tourists, not just locals. Also, Vinita isn’t too far from you. 2023 was an exciting year for theme park announcements. Do you think American Heartland will be built?
@@texney Last I heard ground has not even broken on the RV park that is supposed to be built first for American Heartland. Also, no one has solved the labor problem. I hear Vinita has a smallish population.
Yeah, I ended up looking into it today. They apparently owe a ton of money to the designers. As of now, the project is delayed, not canceled, but if they can’t even pay their current debts, I don’t see how this will work. It was suppose to already be funded. I figured the RV park might at least see the light of day, but I do not know how many people travel that route that would be willing to stay. When Disney chose Kissimmee, there was a better highway system, the public knowledge of an already successful Disneyland, and a world where it was common to spend a full day driving. Heck, my family used to do it. Entire day! 😩 But now you really need access to a decent airport, which for us in DFW, we have. Third busiest in the world, and we’re adding a six terminal. We are essentially “Anaheim,” in that a company could build somewhat nearby, and survive off the locals, while easily attracting weekenders from Houston, Austin, San Antonio, OKC, and elsewhere. It’s worth the 4-6 hour drive. And once word gets out, there’s the airport, should anyone need it. I think American Heartland could work, but it really needs to be closer to OKC and Tulsa, getting labor, and guests during its early years, and people like us could drive or fly if we wanted to. Might be a little harder for other Texas cities, but DFW would probably visit. People already charter busses to go to the casinos up there. Getting labor out there to Vinita… …that’s the tough one. I think the only reason Disney was successful was because he already proved himself with Disneyland. Had he built the first Disneyland in 1960s Florida, I don’t know if he could do it.
Love these updates, keep them coming!
