I remember this piece from when it was played for the first time at the Queen Elisabeth competition in the 80s (87?). It was the first time, at least for me, a modern piece sounded beautiful. I even remember the interpretations by Nikolsky and Wakabahishi. So nice to find it here.

Thanks for that. I've been searching for it on the Web for years. I think I prefer the version from the Queen Elizabeth piano contest I had on tape then lost. but it's still a great reminder of what is probably still the best piece of music ever written for the contest. :)

Exuberant piece full of lyricism, violence and at the end peacefull. A work that strikes you from the beginning to the last note;;;and written by a flemish composer. Merits much more admiration as well in his homeland as abroad. I heard this work today (December 13th 2014) for the first time and was immediately fullfilled with love and respect fot this creation. Robert Glorieux from Munte (Belgium).

Robert Glorieux : Hey Robert, I spend lots of holidays in Munte ! There was a well known hughe large family Glorieux (with Sari, Meti and Leni a.o.). Could you be a member of it ? I used th stay with the De Blander-family. I do agree wiht your comment: this piece was written for the Queen Elisabeth contest (may be thirty years ago) and it was never surpassed. Quite unfortunately it is not part of the repertoire of concert pianists !

Robert Glorieux uit Munte ? Familie van het landbouwersgezin: Meti, Sari, Leni, e.a. ? Mooie opinie. Ik ken het werk sedert de creatie ervan: zoals de vorige commentator schrijft: het mooiste opgelegde werk dat ooit is geschreven.

I couldn't more agree with the comment of jeduscajedisrien. Is it performed from time to time?
