What do you guys think of the new format? I’m thinking of revisiting some old Basics recipes, both to try out the new style, and because the techniques have changed so much in the past 6 years.
It's awesome 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Not a fan of the foley.
I'm all for revisions of older recipes, you get better in the kitchen, you understand how certain things work, why not release a video to reflect as much? I also love kitchen audio, I love your style of chill music over the video, but yeah, do like me some Kitchen ASMR.
I definitely enjoyed this take on your content, don’t get me wrong I love your normal stuff. But I think you can definitely work this in to your basics series.
I prefer the old version to be honest, not a fan of the scrapes and other offputting noises that come through
Maybe should be its whole own series! Babish: Revisted. For this calming aesthetic where you re-do recipes from your past with your new skills and techniques. Then you could still have the best of both world with traditional Basics and Binging. Because I do love your upbeat energy in all your videos.
That is such a great idea!
He could make his own Spam in a can and I'd still watch it.
@@scotsman242 I would unironically love to watch a video about making and canning your own Spam
Throwbacks with Babish?
Seconded! This is a great idea.
I do like this format. But I also like the more chaotic format when I see you showing stuff going wrong or you are just really animated when you are cooking. I think both formats are worth keeping in the future depending on how you are feeling in each individual video
Basics: This "professional" style
Binging: Chill casual style
Botched: CHAOS
All have their worth
Agreed
Chaos is great for botched episodes. The usual quick-but-informative pace works great for binging. And I think this pace is perfect for the genuine, great recipes shown in the Basics series
This is the opinion I agree with. I like things mixed up a bit.
this version makes me sleepy.
The change to kitchen audio is nice but honestly I'd rather it be an occasional thing and not have to choose one format over the other.
I enjoy them both and appreciate the variety the editors and Andy try to introduce to keep things feeling fresh.
I really like your voiceovers normally. They are always funny and perfectly executed, definitely set you apart from other cooking content
Completely agree with you!
This, it feels like every ASMR cooking channel and honestly, you are better than this
I was about to say that in an awful way lol, but yeah I prefer the usual format
I like the old voiceover but the kitchen sound’s definitely add something to the video! Love the balance, the sounds don’t overpower or take away from the experience!
Same here. The new voice over style is not for me.
He’s going for those ASMR views
@@jlshel42 Yes, and I hate it. I have misophonia and noises cause me to have involuntary reactions, such as gagging and scratching my fingers. This is one of the ONLY cooking channels that is entertaining and doesn't rely on ASMR fanatics. If he starts doing this, I'll no longer have a cooking channel to watch that's disability-friendly. ASMR wackos already have a billion ASMR cooking channels to choose from... why can't we have normal Babish?
@@nomoretwitterhandles He can do both, you know...
cooking asmr is great
This calmer format combined with the natural kitchen sounds instantly made me relax. However, I wouldn't want to miss the more chaotic and wild episodes either!
The honesty and realism of the mistakes and outtakes made me think I could do what you do. A B-roll like josh Wiseman isn't plagiarism it's just what it is. Bring back Kendall
I love that, with multiple books, 10 million subscribers and so many accomplishments, Andrew still gets excited at something so simple as an unbroken and well seasoned hollandaise. Hasn't lost his love for the simple things. I respect that so much. Thanks, Babish!
Either youve never made eggs benedict, or you make them for breakfast every morning, and i cant tell which
It's not bad by any means. I think there's room for this sort of video and I'd be happy to see more of it, especially as you fine tune it, but I personally wouldn't want this style to replace the regular one. Your upbeat, snappy, witty delivery is a big part of the enjoyment of your content for me. I feel like I could put this on loop before bed to help me fall asleep, particularly with that mellow background music.
Eggs Benedict is the ultimate sometimes breakfast
I genuinely want to make it ngl and if it's a success, I'll make it into an ultimate sometimes breakfast
It's a sometimes breakfast because meals are only sometimes breakfast.
@@SingAboutSwayzenow you're thinking with your head.
Yep, muffins from scratch is a little overboard; however what has to be made from scratch is the Hollandaise sauce. All the cafes in my region of Australia used jarred Hollandaise, and have grossly bland Eggs Benedict as a result. Basically wrote off as a menu option until having it at a small cafe in California where it was recommended, it was amazing. Back In Straya make it at home once every few months and it's amazing home made too. Once you get the feel to avoid curdles, Hollandaise isn't intimidating to make, nailed it on the second go.
Right, gotta be in the mood for it, but wouldn’t say no if it was in front of me
I'll say the "rough around the edges" Babish is a lot of what always made your show so enjoyable and relatable.
Honestly, this updated format is absolutely gorgeous. The whole thing is as informative as your videos always are, but this time with added calmness that makes the video extremely relaxing to watch. I figure it's the change in bgm as well as the addition of regular prep and cooking sounds. 100% happy to see more Basics structured like this.
I think OTHER shows do that "comforting and chill" thing. We sub to you because it's high energy, entertaining, and informative.
Totally agree. I think this presentation is more generic.
Second. I only laughed once in this video. Where'd the humor go?
This feels like a thousand other channels out there. So generic and boring.
Love the natural sounds of the kitchen and food being prepared.
This ^
The live audio was way more relaxing than I thought it would be, and actually calmed me down from a really rough day. I hope we can see more content like this in the future- it was really lovely!
This was like a meditation. It was incredibly calming. I paid much my attention to the details and was a very pleasant experience overall
This format sounds like you're in an old friend's kitchen, watching them prepare some delicious breakfast. It feels like a safe space. I genuinely felt peaceful when watching this
I'm calling it "ReaSMR", tbh a separate vid with a bunch of the B-roll that's just sounds of the cooking process would slap
yeah more of this please
That's a sweet sentiment, but for those of us with misophonia, it's like watching your only accessible cooking channel die right before your eyes. I'm honestly a little disappointed that he's chasing ASMR viewers now.
@@nomoretwitterhandles i totally get where you're coming from, i have misophonia myself (for eating sounds & rubbing on certain textures) and i always skip the "tasting" part of a cooking video for that reason. i doubt they'll do every bwb video like this! a little bit for everybody :)
Eggs Benny is my favorite breakfast food. This looks absolutely delicious!
great minds think alike. i just said the same thing lol
I really enjoy this format, I'd be all for revisiting some basics this way! I do think a quick and snappy format as you have done in the past does have its place. I would love to see a variety of both styles depending on the subject matter, but either way, more of this please.
This new format is lovely - perfect balance of the cooking sounds from the kitchen, and the calming voice over. I just got home from work, and I wasn't expecting it - it was a great treat! I would love to see more episodes like this
I believe you struck the balance between kitchen sounds/voiceover perfectly hence why the new format elevates the experience. As long as you keep this balance the same, keep the same format!
I agree
This new format is an absolute breath of fresh air! The slower pace and natural kitchen ambience somehow makes everything feel a bit more genuine and really adds an air of authenticity that often feels missing from the internet these days.
I actually really loved the vibe of this episode. It was super relaxing and calming.
This is an amazing new format! I love the slower pace as it helps to understand exactly what youre doing before moving on to the next step. Thanks for revisiting recipies too it really helps out.
For hollandaise, I feel like you can't beat Kenji's immersion blender technique, but this was a fantastic episode and I'd LOVE more like it. Might also be one of my favorite breakfasts ever and now I want to try my hand at English muffins!!
Yeah I don’t think you can beat the immersion blender technique but tbf I think people are more likely to have a regular blender than an immersion one
@@rhinopoley fair point
Absolutely loving the slower paced format! With the hectic fast paced and crazy world we live in these days, its nice to just slow down and relax once in a while. Much love from Australia!
I love the gentleness of this episode and your voice makes it all the more beautiful
Love the chill, cool, calm Babish. Very warm and soft. Keep it up!
I found this experimental format to be perfect for basics. It gives a more connected vibe to the video, and I feel like I'm in your kitchen learning firsthand. Love it. idk if I would apply it to Binging, not that it would be bad, but it is perfect for Basics.
I absolutely love this format. So cozy, relaxing, and informative! the cleaning of the countertop at the end was the perfect touch. I also love the classic Babish style, so imo I'd love to see the Basics episodes in this format and all the others the way you've been making them. Either way, I'm gonna consume my much needed BCU content.
I am LOVING both the calmer voice and including the kitchen sounds during the video!
this was hands down the most relaxing video. love this format. the kitchen sounds are an untapped asmr goldmine
Loving the new format, it's so soothing. Plus hearing the actual sounds makes the cooking experience a lot more realistic. Keep'em coming !
I like both ways, the asmr sounds with the subtle overtones of your talking work really well together. And I love the chaos induced filming of the past as well.
Love this format! Very comforting and intimate.
I personally like your normal pacing as it feels more homely than info-grafic, though the kitchen sounds and occasional soft moments would be cool to see be incorporated
Love a calmer format. I tend to revisit videos like this more often - as much as I love chaotic fun, too much of that stresses me. Also, your vocal pitch is really conducive to this style and I'd like to see and hear more of this.
Love the new format. Variety is the spice of life, so even if some videos are like classic Babish but others take this more chilled vibe, I'm here for it. Keep up the great work everyone! Love the channel
I love this new style! So calm and peaceful
i absolutely LOVED this format, please please please make more of this!
Babish never fails to pump us full of great content and leave us dripping.

Like a werewolf boyfriend, eh?
What did I just read
Great food, great voice over, great almost-ASMR-type kitchen noise. Very relaxing I loved it!
Love the sounds of the kitchen whike you're cooking - combined with your voiceover it makes for some real peaceful watching!!
I really liked this format! Very relaxing and peaceful
I don’t usually comment on YT videos, but I REALLY liked this format. It was calm, not rushed-feeling, a little ASMR as well and more personable. I would love to see more videos like this.
My thoughts exactly!
I love the new format. After watching it, you can play it on the background while you work or relax for a somewhat comforting experience.
Your voice over and the sounds of the kitchen mix really well.
Babish ASMR: A Sound Most Relaxing
This format was amazing. I love the slower approach. The intimacy of everything. Fantastic! I say keep them coming!
This felt like a very chill, very soft video that was quite relaxing to watch and listen to. I rather like this style, so please do more.
I love the new format and love hearing the kitchen sounds, can't wait to see more!!
Love the new style of filming, it's very relaxing, satisfying, and crisp while also being informative
Love the change of pace for basics videos, it makes it easier for people to follow along
I'm super happy with longer episodes, this was relaxing to watch and felt a lot more personal.
ASMR with Babish
Gotta love it
I love the added kitchen sounds. It’s almost asmr and making me feel a kind of way ❤
I actually really like this new format. Having music playing in the background with mostly voice-overs and visuals is nice, but I also thoroughly enjoy kitchen noises
I normally have terrible sensory issues with sound, but this format was perfect. Especially the work station clean at the end. Very satisfying.
It is not perfect. I actually do have misophonia and noises make me want to rip my fingernails off. It makes me nauseous and disgusted. Please do not pitch in with your "but actually", because it makes it seem like the rest of us are okay with it. Babish is literally one of the only entertaining cooking channels out there that doesn't rely on ASMR for views, which is exactly why I gravitated towards this channel many years ago after ASMR wackos starting taking over every cooking channel out there. The handful of other cooking channels that don't do ASMR usually don't make content that I want to see; after all, Babish recreates really fun dishes from films and movies and tv shows--something most cooking channels do not. The last thing I want is for my only accessible cooking content to be ripped away from me because people lack an attention span. ASMR in non-ASMR videos is the equivalent of jingling keys in front of a baby's face in order to get their attention... and it will certainly lose mine.
This was so relaxing I loved it
I love the new format! It's relaxing and can provide almost an immersive experience in the kitchen whilst adding the sounds and slowing the pacing for Basics. I certainly enjoyed this and hope to see it more!
Loving the new format… every time you pulled the towel off of that bowl was so satisfying.
Love this format for a Basics. It's a nice pace, easy to grasp and just overall entertaining.
One of my favorite breakfasts! Yay!
Me too.
LOVED the new more relaxed style! The fact the i also can heard the process is really neat i would not mind this from now on or even sprinkled in here and there!
I like it quite a bit! It does seem slow, but forces you to slow down yourself, listen, soak it in, and relax a touch! Keep doing what you’re doing banish, and thank you for the lovely work you do!
The pacing of your voice actually makes it much easier to follow along. The sound enabled makes me even hungrier for the food you’re making. And the music is soothing enough to simply listen to in the background. Yes, this is much better than the past format and I didn’t even realize that until after watching this!
Absolutely loved this format. So chilled to kick back and watch after working in a kitchen all day! You’re voice very soothing, too, thank you 👍🏼
This is the BEST voice over you have ever done. I just want to watch this episode over and over. It is relaxing and makes me want to make the muffins!!
Thank you for this new Babish!!!
I like that this didn’t feel rushed! I think over time your videos have become quicker and shorter, I liked that this video was slowed down.
I love this format! I feel like it makes things seem more approachable! I love the old style too but a mix of both 🤌🤌
Love the new audio changes. So relaxing and evocative. Really added a soulful and reverent atmosphere towards the magic of cooking.
I loved this format!! Super relaxing and easy to follow along :)
Yooooo this is THOROUGHLY the vibe and I need 10 hours of it
I absolutely love the presentation and atmosphere in this one.
I love this new format. Sometimes, cooking be hectic, so it’s a breath of fresh air to slow it down a bit. And BTW, eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast. I’ll be making it soon, Great job as always!
looks delicious.😋 I like to see more calm and relaxing cooking
This format is beautiful, thank you so much!
I liked this format. Made me happy and calm. Thank you!
That slow formula is sooo much better then the rushed one! calming and more enjoyable especially to eat while watching c:
This format worked really well. More of this, please.
watching this at 12:47 am is so soothing after work, please keep this up!!
Really loved that ASMR cleaning shot at the end of the video. I always love leaving my kitchen clean and wiped down at the end of the day when I can.
Andrew's slow voice is so soothing & calming (oddly satisfying)
I love the new format. All the kitchen sounds were very peaceful and it felt very relaxed.
Eggs Benedict is easily one of my favourite breakfast items, and I live in a country where English muffins are shockingly hard to find in a store...so thank you Andrew for sharing this recipe...AND I love the new softer vibes
Love the foley, love the pacing, love everything about this! The sounds of cooking make it really rich and real and give the whole video a feeling of texture. The slower, chiller voiceover is great, and I like that it gives you a bit of space to mention little things that might otherwise get glossed over. Obviously love the traditional Basics and Bingeing formats, but this is a great additional format to have in the wheelhouse. 10/10 no notes (except for the loud and extremely jarring ads in the middle of the video, which are rougher on the eyes and ears than usual because of the slower, cosier vibe)
Eggs Benedict is my ultimate guilty pleasure! ALSO, thank you for slowing down. I watch Babish when I eat dinner/ relax or decompress so it's nice not to feel like I'm being chased to finish a task in 4-6 minutes. The kitchen sounds is also def one of the best things in cooking/culinary youtube so, thumbs up from me.
I LOVE the new format, the kitchen sounds are great and also the more chill overall pacing!
How well do those muffins freeze after frying?
And now I am hungry...
really enjoyed this atmosphere. Very calming and soothing
Love the new format. Super relaxing!
I definitely enjoy this format as both calming and educational. Sometimes the breathlessly active cooking videos can be a bit intense. And eggs Benedict are my favorite breakfast!
This format is fantastic! More please!
Absolutely LOVE the new format for Basics!
Loved this! Definitely gonna make atleast the English muffins. They are a Christmas morning staple in my house
Definitely enjoy the new format. It gives off a perfect brunch vibe of later morning but not quite ready for full lunch menu style energy. Which is perfect for eggs Benedict because it's my usual brunch go to, besides a Monte Cristo. Love the choice of meat. Poached eggs are my go to style of egg now. Please keep this format, even if it's just for certain videos!
Please make more like this, it's calming and very lovely.
I loved this format! Pairing something like eggs benedict, which can often be stressful to prep, with this relaxing format was perfection!
So your telling me a Benedict made those eggs?
I love the chill vibe! The chaotic vibe is always fun on Botched, but one of the things I've always loved about the choreographed Babish content is how calming it was. Truth be told, I just love the content from this channel. But a chill vibe is always great!
Really like the new style. Nice change of pace while still maintaining the uniqueness of the channel. Its a winner for me.
So chill and calming. Please more of this style
i LOVE this format! very calming and great for basics
