  • I am busy writing my book about watchmaking, so now a reupload. It must at least be a Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin, don't you think?
Have you ever seen a this shape of movement, SUCH a beauty!
Very exiting for us to do, no editing just live watchmaking. Anything can go wrong at any time!
Tutorial on watchmaking by watchmaker Kalle Slaap from Chronoglide Vintage Watch repair specialists near Amsterdam.
Live stream on TH-cam every Tuesday 20:30 (CET/Amsterdam time)

Just incredible!! *I've been collecting for ~35 years, and spent almost 20 years dealing in vintage watches professionally as well; and I've never seen the like of this.* I love it! Not to brag, but watches have been a passion since very early childhood, and I considered myself pretty knowledgeable about unusual movements and rare timepieces. I've even owned maybe half a dozen Masonic watches in unusual configurations myself -- including a couple triangular ones very similar looking to this which were quite high grade (18k & gemstone). For every one of those that passed through my hands, I've seen two dozen more; yet always with just the standard round movement. Honestly I'd never even _heard_ of a triangular movement until now... All the design effort that must've gone into this, especially back in the pre-CAD era, for such extremely limited application is staggering.
Just beautiful though, and it _screams_ for a exhibition caseback! I'm all for originality, but concealing that is a crime. Were I the owner I'd seriously consider having a custom exhibition back made for this. Since it seems to be just a simple snap-fit back, that should be easy, cheap, and require no modification to the watch itself (making it 100% reversible; because damaging or modifying anything original on this piece would also be a crime!). Anyway, *beautiful, super unique piece and an interesting story to go with it. Thanks for the video!*

The concealment of the extraordinary movement creates a mystery, a hidden wonder. This special secret is likely key to its composition as a piece of art. The physical movement has been rendered *esoteric* - something deeper and unexpected to be appreciated upon special examination.

@@BluePrinceThoth A fair enough view, and well fitting to the philosophy of those who've "been to the East". That said, it's still a shame to conceal it under the plain back.

The provenance is amazing, a story worth telling in it's own right. But the pocket watch, my goodness it's stunning! To think of the time and effort the watchmaker put into this watch..is just mind blowing. It was without doubt, a wealthy customer that placed the watch in motion...who's ancestor is your client . So darn cool to a history buff such as myself. 😊
I enjoy all your videos, but this one was special !!

Beautiful watch and thank you for sharing! I have to say, I noticed right away that the triangles engraved on the case shown are oriented in a way that does not fit with tension of the chains binding them, (Thet are upside down with the chains attached to the top) but the case in the picture did. I don't know if that has any significance at all.
