I really adore that you count audiobooks into read books. Sometimes the book community is very harsh in audiobooks listeners „your not a reader if you only listen to audiobooks“ „it’s not reading to listen to an audiobook“. When we talk about books we talk about the experience of the story and not how we kept our eyes on paper for hours. As a bookseller I know many people who can’t read books because the letters became to small to them, or they’re blind, or they have a busy life and kids and listening to audiobooks is the only way they can enjoy books.
I agree that the book community is often harsh on audiobook listeners, and I really dislike it! In general I think people care too much about what other people do, instead of just enjoying their own experience and journey😅 Different media work for different people, and whether I’ve read the physical book or listened to the audiobook I still experienced the same story, so just like you I don’t get why it’s such a big deal to some people😅 Audiobooks helped me get back into reading novels as an adult, they have let me listen to books together with my significant other on roadtrips, and lulls me to sleep when I can’t sleep. They’re great!😌
Yes! I don't get it. If we're talking about eye strain or comfortable reading positions or something physical, I can respect there's a difference. But on the content of the book itself, the story's the same? It just doesn't matter. One of us will know how to pronounce the names and the other will make it up in our head. That's it. The story's the story, whether or not we access it the same way.
i have extremely bad eye problems, I could not possibly read for more than 10 minutes on pure sight so yeah audiobooks are my saviours because I do love to read. Its so sad when I hear that you don´t count as a reader if you use audiobooks.
I discovered the Murderbot Diaries through your Discord group as a book club read and absolutely loved the whole series. I read 8 or 9 of the books before we even had a chance to discuss All Systems Red in the group. I find Murderbot's sense of humor hilarious and I really loved the whole found family and growth of characters in the group. Beautiful spreads Hedda. 🌸
If you're interested in giving another thriller a go, I recommend _Wrong Place Wrong Time_ by Gillian McAllister. I read it recently and very much enjoyed it, even though I'm using very picky with thrillers. Re: Goodreads awards...I definitely don't trust them at all 😅 They tend to be nominated by how many readers logged the book, rather than the actual quality of the book. Considering GR is owned by Amazon, it definitely feels like a way of pushing sales rather than celebrating wonderful books, which is an awful shame. All of these spreads were great for spring 🌸 I'm a sucker for rabbits so I definitely love the spreads including them!
🌸 Beautiful spreads again Hedda. I loved the cherry blossom ones in particular. Just to let you know- with the Murderbot series, although Network Effect was published first, Fugitive Telemetry actually comes after Exit Strategy chronologically. So glad you are enjoying them.😃🌸
I love what you did with the cover page. The collage is so well balanced, and I love how you used brushlettering for the titles of the books.🌸 I think my favourite spread from you was the one for Six Crimson Cranes. The soft shades of pinks and greens just work so well together. 💚
Lovely spreads, as always! I find your reading journal videos to somehow be relaxing AND inspiring to watch and I look forward to them every month! I'm wondering if you remember where you got the transparent + gold foil butterfly sticker sheet that you use alongside the Marigona Suli stationery on the Rogue Protocol spread? (Edit: LOL NEVER MIND, just continued the video and it was a pen pal gift!)
I read the promese dragon too. And thank you to put words on my feelings about. I was so sad to see so few of Seryu !! I think he was the dragon of the promese and ... not bouhouhou. Well a good book (but with some extra pages for nothing or almost sometimes) but I will read the story she write about Mulan to see if she is too much YA or if it's just about this duologie :) Have a nice day !
The Familiar is an adult and is a standalone!! The third book for the Alex Stern series is in the works, which also will be the last book in the series!!
I love the Murderbot Diaries, too!!! I've bought all of the audiobooks (that are out so far) and I've listened them several times through, and I've only known about them a year or so. I love your reading journal, and I'm going to have to consider what I can do about adding books to my bujo. I'm not sure I can keep a whole reading journal, but maybe a quick overview in my regular bujo. What made you start a separate reading journal? Is there anything in particular that you wanted for it that you didn't have space for in your regular bujo?
🌸🌸🌸 I look forward to listening to you and someday I will change the way I do journals. I can't seem to sit down and write about my day the way I am going.
I enjoy your spreads so much and love how you chose the color theme based on the book cover. You also inspired me to start setting up my new reading journal!! 🌸🌸🌸
I read the Housemaid and agree with you 100%. The characters are not dimensional enough to be real. The protagonist is too naive and it's inconsistent with other character traits. It's not written to be literary greatness; rather an entertaining story.
Such beautiful spreads! 🤎 I also felt the same about ‘the housemaid’ I found myself constantly rolling my eyes at most of the things the main protagonist did! 🤣
I L-O-V-E-E the cover page of April and also the spreads. I am thinking of start a reading journal myself, but I don't have enough stationeries, I know, journaling don't need so many fancy stationeries, but it's just fun to do it with stationeries. Anyway, I love all of your videos sooooo much!!!
This is neat. I love the idea of a reading journal! What fun. I love the stars stamp for it. I saw The Familiars at the bookstore yesterday and picked it up to find out what it was about but didn't end up buying it. Loved all the designs you made for the pages. I giggled when you said the one book was like one that you would pick up at the grocery store. haha.
I love how you organized your reading journal. I tried doing the reading journal I wasn’t successful 😅 i love audiobook as well because when I drive I can still continue reading. 🌸 I’m not sure if this is a cherry blossom 😅
I loved your April reading journal video. It is so much fun to watch a page come together. To watch you decide on washi tape and scraps of paper and stickers. The page comes together as if that is exactly how it should be. You are so very talented! I love watching the master at work! Thank you for showing your process! I loved it!🌸🌸🌸
I read All Systems Red after watching your journal video and I loved it! Thank you for this recommendation and all your recs. The variety of genres you read really helps me find new books out of my usual comfort zone! I am looking forward to starting the second book in the Murderbot Series
Such a pretty journal, I love each and everyone of those spreads. I'm the same in that I keep flicking back to my old reading journals. I got the first Murderbot book this month, looking forward to reading it at some point this month. Thanks for a great video :)
🌸 jag tror du är fjärde personen jag sett på youtube som inte tyckte om the housemaide så du är inte ensam! Blir så inspirerad av din reading journal, alltid lika fina sidor 🌸
I love your cover page!!!! 😍❤ Before when your spreads had nothing to do with the books I thought it would be great if they did, but now I think I prefer them being random 😝 because it is like a surprise. Nevertheless, they are always beautiful!!! ❤
I wasn't a big fan of The Housemaid either. I was really hoping to like it bc it has gotten so much hype on social media but it just did not resonate with me🌸
I did enjoy housemaid. It was a fun thriller. But yes it is an easy read and not written by a Harvard graduate haha. But I enjoyed it. I should add I’m a psy nurse. I run a psy ward for the govt. so crazy people doing messed up things is a daily scene for me. So yes these characters were believable to me lol.
Bonjour à toi, j'aime beaucoup ton contenu mais c'est un peu dommage que tu mettes pas les sous titres en Français parce que je ne comprend pas ce que tu dis. 💖
i think owning a reading journal does put some pressure on me to read but that's also because i am a physical reader. I refuse to accept audiobooks as a form of reading so physically getting through enough books to fill an A&O journal can be tough. 🌸
I used to read only physical books. Then in 2010 I got very sick. I took about three years for doctors for find out that I had Lyme disease. It effects every part of your body including your memory. For the longest time I could not read a single book. Nothing. That killed me. Then I got into listening to podcasts. It was then a natural transition into audio books. I still, 13 years later have a very hard time reading print books but an audio book I can listen to and have a wonderful experience with. So audio books have their place just as much as physical books. If you don’t like them that is perfectly fine. That is why both mediums exist. But audio books exist for a myriad of reasons. I get to enjoy literature because of audio books and I think that is wonderful!❤
I feel the exact same way. I know it's silly but unless I have the physical book I don't feel like it really counts. Almost like watching a movie. I need to get over this however since listening to an audio book definitely helps when you need your hands free to do stuff.
I too began listening to audiobooks when I was very sick - they helped me pass the time in hospital and in bed. Some of them have become as good friends as my hard copy favourites. I also read books on my iPad or e-reader and now have a pile of books too. They all have their place, I think.🌸
@EvanLuke3 I feel like audiobooks have their place. I enjoy them especially when driving. I just don't count them as my reading a book. I count them as listening like podcasts. It just gets a different type of media consumed list. I prefer ebooks at this point only because my physical health requires me to lighten my load and my phone or tablet are going to be on me either way so books without extra weight along with access to libraries when I need a new title. It's just a matter of finding our comfort zone and accessibility.

Woooo, Murderbot!!! Oh, the spread for Gretel Lusky was beautiful.
Omg I’ve never heard the term “potboiler” before, but that’s so fitting!!😂
This is so gorgeous, what a fantastic set of reads ☺☺

the wayfinder spread is so so beautiful w that right side😍
🌸 This is the best: Journaling and books are my two favourite things.
I started reading the Murderbot Diaries thanks to your reviews and am really enjoying them!

The Familiar is an adult and is a standalone!! The third book for the Alex Stern series is in the works, which also will be the last book in the series!!
You're right, The Familiar was published as an adult title in the USA and presumably in other places but I haven't checked.
I love the Murderbot Diaries, too!!! I've bought all of the audiobooks (that are out so far) and I've listened them several times through, and I've only known about them a year or so. thank you so much for introducing "murder bot diaries". I'm half through "all systems red" now and I like it a lot ❤🌸🌸🌸
How cute Hedda! Mochibujo + Journal Away = win win 🌸🌸🌸

I think this is my favorite title page you've made!!! The colors are just so beautiful and the layout was perfect!! 🌸
I like your new setup of putting the cover of the book on the page!🌸
Thank you for the reminder to continue on with the Murderbot Diaries series! I’m going to start book 6 this month ☺️☺️
