This should be a joke where you tell your friends about how your weekend went but you just quote this song w/out mentioning rock lobster and see how far you can get before they catch on. 😂
This is a song made for the purpose of pure silliness and fun. It is actually very therapeutic to deviate you from worries, if you have them. After about 40 years It still makes me smile.
im 12 and two of my 12 year old friends have been singin this part all day : 'we were on the beach, everybody had, MATCHING TOWELS!Someone went, on to the dock, and there they saw. A ROCK! But it wasnt a rock?..it was a rocklobster!' ;)
Not all of the lyrics are nonsense, exactly....(HERE COMES A BIKINI WHALE!! *screaming*) The imagery in the lyrics allude to both beach scene humor as well as the magic of rock n' roll music. Take how the very title of the song can be either about a lobster of rock n' roll, or a beach bum who didn't use a strong enough sunscreen when he decided to stay out in the sun too long... Plus, you can take many verses literally, and then you get a studio cartoon-like adventure where a human is taken to an underwater beach scene (underwater sunbathing, and the like) and all the crazy stuff that happens.
My first introduction to this was the parody song “Rock Monster” performed by the character Sedgewick (Mr. Lunt) in the VeggieTales movie _The Pirates who Don’t Do Anything,_ which I watched once while in elementary school. My first time hearing the original (as far as I can remember) was today.
There is always someone glorifying the use of drugs! Can't singers be creative without drugs? Who came up with the idea that drugs will prompt you to produce a funny song? Maybe "these people" were not "high" but creative.
Perfect when you've gotten an acting role and then the studio needs you at their studio in their city so then you fly there with only your swimsuit, your shoes, and your carry-on bag on in the airplane. ^_^
Cool story: "In the mid-to-late ’70s, John Lennon wasn’t playing music. He wasn’t thinking much about music. He was trying to be a good father to son Sean. He’d lost interest in trying to persuade people to listen to the work he’d done with wife Yoko Ono, and his last release had been in 1974. Around five years later, he exploded back into action in a matter of moments. “I was at a dance club one night in Bermuda,” Lennon told Rolling Stone in an interview recorded three days before his death in 1980. “Upstairs, they were playing disco, and downstairs I suddenly heard ‘Rock Lobster’ by the B-52’s for the first time. Do you know it? It sounds just like Yoko’s music.” In particular, Cindy Wilson’s scream toward the end of the song was reminiscent of Ono’s approach. “I said to meself, ‘It’s time to get out the old ax and wake the wife up!’” Lennon said. Almost immediately he and Ono started working. He’d write a song and sing it to her on the phone; in New York, she’d come up with a song of her own as a reply. The result was Double Fantasy, the last full album Lennon ever worked on before his death in December 1980."
"Underneath the waves Mermaids wavin' Wavin' to mermen Wavin' sea fans Sea horses sailin' Dolphins wailin' " Why does that part show up on some lyrics sites but it isn't on here?
LMFAO, I was playing rock band 3 ds and this song came up and then i remembered the family guy version! And then the song got stuck in my head so i was like screw it i'm downloading this! XD

As soon as you said ,"his ear lobe fell in the deep" they'd probably be asking questions 😂

I love how lyrics of this song make nonsense, but this song is still amazing. Like MidLife Crisis.
