- When there is some sensation of a foreign body in the throat, it can be a foreign body itself when ingested while eating inadvertently or it could be because of a swelling of the tissues in the throat. The swelling can hope at the level of the base tongue which is the lingual tonsil . It can happen at the level of the tonsils itself which can enlarge and case obstruction in food which we swallow or give rise to something being there while lying down. Apart from that the swelling of the pharyngeal tissues because of chronic granular phayrngitis can also give rise to this kind of a sensation. Apart from that in India there are many peel who are anemic and very severe anemia can also give rise to swellings at the lower end of the throat which is the entrance of the esophagus which is the entrance of the esophagus, we call it as the post cricoid area. In that region there can be the formation of folds of tissues that give rise to this kind of a sensation. If the sensation persist and does not go with the use of gargles, it is necessary that you meet your ENT specialist and identify the cause for which it ha s to be treated.

and what if when I eat a roll that was wrapped in plastic wrap, I bite the roll too far with the wrap and it automatically sucks the plastic wrap off (somewhere in the middle of my throat, I don't know) sometimes I hear and feel like this characteristic swish of plastic wrap
I can't tell whether it's the chalk that I had from a top of my drink the other day which is when it started or if it's the mince I had stuck my neck has got a bit of swelling but it doesn't feel like a lump that I can move but I am a smoker so it's got me a little bit worried this is the third day now it's been couple of times it felt like it had gone but it hasn't I keep swallowing some drink to try and push it down or some more food but no such luck any advice what it could be and what to do I hope it's not cancer I have been having some bleeding in a different area but that's not to do with the neck?
Day 7 of this horrible sensation. Crying my eyes out because this discomfort is so annoying. Why us? I wouldn't wish this on anyone , not even on my worst enemy. I pray to God this stuck in my throat sensation disappear and never return again . I want to feel like myself again .. I am so unhappy.

I’m here too guys - 4.13 am here - i thought it was tonsil stones at first - then when the problem went and came back again yesterday - I realised that it must be hardened mucus stuck in throat - because before yesterday I had coughed up a large amount of hardened mucus - now there is something stuck and I can only guess this is my problem - Dayum is it keeping me up - + it’s litterally driving me to the point of insanity and extreme anxiety in my brain

Meet too. I suffer from panic attacks and now this too. Try omeprazole for a week or two. That helped me a little. Feels like my esophagus is narrow. I have to eat muffins with milk or cup of noodles. Extremely difficult to swallow dry foods like salads and grainy things like rice and dry breads. But a lot of it is in the mind. But go see a doctor

I eat soft foods with nutrients like tomato soup or soup broth with steamed veggies like potatoes or carrots because you can chew them and break them down really well for minimal problem swallowing. Maybe a cup'o'noodles. I have minimal problem eating this- slowly- like any other food that I eat. Drink a a very well blended fruit smoothie or a protein shake. Try not eating by yourself in case you need help or a patting on your back. Let them know what you're suffering from. If you feel like there's something small stuck in your throat take a hard drink of carbonated water or maybe a coke. Take a hard swallowing drink so all that carbonated fluid can wash your food down your throat. Sometimes I feel little bits stuck and when I take big gulps it helps. If you do feel something in there stand up for a bit and take another big hard drink or gulp. It might take a while minute but you'll be good. Just DONT panic. I panic at times but don't because it doesnt help and youre not going to die because its only probably little pieces and most likely you'll still be able to breathe even though those pieces are passing thru your esophagus. What your feeling is a sensation from the food touching and rolling down the back of your throat. If you do try the a coke or something carbonated try maybe something not too cold because i think that aggrevates it (I just noticed today). Thats why people gargle warm water- the warmness of the water mildly releives it. I do all these things and I've been surviving 😌 Again- eat slowly and small bites whenever you do eat and sit and eat with someone maybe a little strong that can help you with a heimlich maneuver in case you choke. Lastly see a physician and let them know your issues. Maybe they can prescribe something to you like Omeprazole which I did notice it helping a bit in the last 2 days since it was prescribed. Being nervous makes your throat tense 😬 so try not to be scared of swallowing. Your friend is next to you. I tried thinking of everything I could remember to help. Hello everyone, I hope you are well. Had this problem, started taking omeprazole, as well as 2 Advils and drinking alkeseltzer, after a few days this helped me and the feeling has subsided considerably, I hope this helps you all ❤

guys I got a little piece of oregano wood stuck between the base of my tongue and the entrance of my throat and I tried every known means possible, from drinking and gargling water to throwing up A LOT, to drinking coke and shoving my fingers my throat, NOTHING WORKED. PLEASE HELP.
*UPDATE* : ITS FINALLY GONE, after visiting some doctors the thing was a bit deep and hidden in so its not easy to get it out, but they gave me a spray that helps ease the pain and kinda lubricates the throat so that the food goes down easily (in case it didn't work for a week then that's where I need to go to the hospital), so after using a few times and ate a meal I realized that the piece went down with the food 😅. the feeling stays for like a couple of days but there isn't any pain or feeling of it which confirms that it's gone. so one advice for me, WATCH what you're eating and make sure that you're throat is hydrated enough before eating anything. have a safe day! (or just away from the food kind that can get stuck in your shit lol)

Me it feels like there is something small stuck in my throat . is water enough?
I did this with a big gob of steak. I felt a lump in my throat, tried to swallow some water and the water went nowhere. I could still breathe OK so no panic. I tried to relax and massage my throat. It gurgled a couple of times and after a couple of minutes it went down. I was confident in the malleability of my body and the cow's flesh. If it hadn't I'd have gone straight to the ER. (A couple of days later I had a similar experience, with chicken. I think my esophagus might have swollen from the previous strain so I only ate very, very small bites at a time for a while.) I had vocal problems for a while. Chew your food.

Yesterday I had gotten a small piece of chicken stuck in my throat boneless, I was able to talk and breath but it was just stuck I had tried drinking water to push it down it didn’t work ran to the bathroom to throw up ever since then I threw up nonstop went to ER they said since you can talk and breath fine I don’t think it’s there anymore but my throat feels uncomfortable, and now I don’t know what to do I have all these different thoughts running through my head im freaking out too not knowing what to do

Guys get checked up at ENT doctor. My doctor told that my nose was infected and due to which thick substance from nose was dripping from back of the nose to the throat and thats making me feel like something's stuck.
Here's another thing. Sometimes I feel like it's some semi sticky things like mayonnaise because when I eat something like shawarma this happens and its noticeable. However he also told I got alergy so there's no cure there's only some precautions that can be taken. And you need to observe them.
Most of the people here worrying should also visit an ENT doctor.

I had that horrible feeling when I woke up today, I can’t talk or swallow, when swallowing my saliva it feels like rough mucous tissues that was swollen, it doesn’t hurt or itch I’m glad it didn’t close my airways. I’m thinking it might be an allergic reaction to some new drink I tried the night before. I made fresh ginger root tea added with turmeric powder lemon juice and fresh ginger root used it like cough drops and the swelling went away in 3 hours.

Heyyy, bro. I've been having this feeling of something stuck in my throat, I've been having this feeling since Monday 12/1/21. This feeling every time I swallow I feel there something down my throat that wont get unstuck. IT WAS monday that I eat a salad at school, I was eating varying fast. After that feeling come to my throat. I tried many thing, drink a lot of water , I also tried to throw up, that also didn't work. Every time I swallow a lump of saliva I feel it goes down deeper down the tube . I have this sensation in my throat that something is stuck throughout the year.. but there are 2-3 times when my throat feels completely clear but then after some time that thing builds up in the neck again. I have been recommended to have peepli (Long pepper) powder by an ayurvedic doctor which did help but it has become less and less effective over time. What should I do? I'm really frustrated and helpless since whatever this is hampering my ability to speak clearly and confidently.

It's very common to feel like the piece of food is stuck in the throat even if it isn't, whenever a food piece gets stuck in the esophagus or trachea it might cause irritation which leads to a horrible sensation in the throat. But this sensation should vanish after a couple of days (even weeks depending on where it got stuck) and is nothing to worry about, if for some reason it doesn't, consult with a doctor.

@@HeyNattyGreen Yes, of course you would know if any food got stuck in your trachea. I'm talking about the feeling that something is still stuck there when the food already got lodged back into the esophagus, I myself got a piece of meat stuck in my trachea for not too long ago and it truly was a horrible experience. I for days could still feel the piece every time I took a breath which is quite common and depends on how large the piece is and where exactly it got stuck.

In most cases, removing a tonsil stone can be done at home. Using a cotton swab, gently push on the tonsil, behind the stone, to force the stone out. Its could be anxiety but, mostly GERD or acid reflex. I have Gerd and it feels like the food I ate is stuck. Take note that laying down right after eating can be the cause.

Its dangerous for us?
I have had something stuck in my throat(left side) for the last 6 months. I can feel it move when I eat and I can feel it when I "hork". it is small but sharp.It just randomly pokes me. I am sometimes able to get it to come up to the back of my tongue but when I try to spit it out it goes back down again. I also have ear and chest pain. It pokes me when I eat and turn my head. I am a vegetarian and only eat meat occasionally. I do not eat chicken or fish. I had a McDonalds hamburger in February and started feeling this sensation afterword. it must have been either a bone that wasn't removed while it was ground or something was only grill while they prepared it (maybe a brush bristle). I have to my doctor, My ENT, had a CT which was negative, I have been examined , nothing! I know it is there. I can physically feel it. I developed a thrush infection and am finishing treatment. I have an appointment with my doctor next week and I am demanding a endoscopy.

Anxiety. It causes swollen throat muscles on the inside or back of your throat. If there’s nothing in your throat, then it’s anxiety 100%. Try not to focus it will go away, cause when you focus on it, it comes right back and you think there’s something

I have Hiatal Hernia and it gives this sensation in throat a lot, I'm used to it now but it's still horrible.

I just drink a lot of water and it just went away. I don’t know if I’m right or wrong but the reason why this is happening is because of drinking to much soda.

I was drinking boba in the car and then i choked on the boba ball and tryed to drink water and soda and throw up but it did not get out. I went to the doctor and they did x ray and said there was noting and they gave me Medicine but it did not work. When i swallow i feel not pain but feels like theres somthing suck. Guys it happened to me, i live in india , i am having blocked nose too due to cold, heres what i did i ate and chewed a vicks ginger garlic tablet which has fumes and medicine like ability that when you chew it gets fumes go down your throat and nose treating that lumo feeling and somewhat stuffed nose !

Bro this happens to me also , when i try to practuce high notes for a day (say) , it feels like something is stuck at lower part of the neck or from where the oesophagus starts...
Now, my wife is feeling like something is stuck in her throat. She can't sleep for 5 days.
But she is relief on daytime.

Its not anxiety. It could be different things like acid reflux or schatzki ring either way see doctor see what they prescribed you. Be careful. Be well

@@evie9476 well, I have the same issue. For about 3 months now. Lately it's been a little worse. I've lost close to 20 pounds or maybe 25. So it's that bad. It's probably not fatally bad but I think it's probably our own fear of choking and dying from it because when we feels the food getting stuck we panic and tend to stop eating altogether because our throat gets tense and irritated even aggrevated with the discomfort of having to digest some certain food textures like cabbage, lettuce or rice. I've only just now went to the doctor for it because I thought it would go away. So they prescribed omeprazole for a week and if it didn't get better they would recommended a specialist. I think we have what's called Schatzki ring. When the end or bottom of the esophagus closes up and have to be opened up by performing a whole procedure for it. So yeah it's not good and not very fun.

Sir 4 years ago I got tonsils doctors given some medicines it cured but continually stuck food . So if it happing continuously does it is reason for throat cancer?
This recently started happening to me, we don't have money to go to a doctor right now, it makes me stress and i struggle to sleep, i keep googling things and it makes everything worse, i just want to know is it urgent to seek medical attention or can i just relax and hope it goes away, please i hate this.

It's been happening for a few days now everytime I swallow it feels like something is stuck in my throat and sometimes it will start to hurt but I'm not sure if there is something stuck in it or what this happened like 2 years ago too as well my mom had to take me to the emergency room cuz it felt like something was stuck in my throat and it stopped after that but then it came back I don't know what's happening but I'm like really scared so :c plus I am only 12 and idk what to do

Please someone help me,
Whenever i get up at morning everytime i see a white layer of something on my tongue, also there is alot of feelings like mucus or something is stuck in throat and behind nose, but when i come back after breakfast or eat something it gets better, after sometime it gets back to the worse condition, i have visited many ent specialists they just gave me medicines like Omeprazole and nasal sprays but nothing works, its been almost 5 months since it started,
Also there is no cough or pain but it gets worse at night,
Just had some tacos and it feels like a small piece of tortilla is in my throat

I am able ro swallow food and water , but i too feel something stuck in my thorat near chest 😭

After drinking hot water and syrup it was fine
