    Glad you enjoyed Zeta Wing! I certainly had fun creating it!
    So 2019 I was at #6 in your Top 10, 2020 at #5, perhaps I can do better in 2021. ;)
    2021 should be a good year (I hope). Soul Force will be out, and working right now to get Briley Witch Chronicles done ready for a 2021 release. Got plans for another vertical SHMUP too, but can't say much about that right now...

      Soul Force looks great , I love a good shoot 'em up but Briley is the one I'm most looking forward too as I'm a big RPG fan and like I say in the vid not many people attempt to do this genre now so it's something a really wanna play and looking out for 🕹️👍

      As a child I played many games on C64 in the 80's, jumping then to PC DOS in the 90's and learning programming in the 2000's. Even though I'm sometimes delighted by the graphics, effects and possibilities in nowadays games, I have an understanding of how they are made (by hundreds of developers in many cases). But looking back at C64 or PC-DOS games, I'm still amazed and mind blown by how talented these people were and are, with so scarce resources, no big teams (usually 1 man/woman army!), no support of any type, no libraries, engines nor tools...! To me you are a hero with no cape :)

    Yet another enthralling video again this time a run down of some of the best games of 2020.
    The only game that doesn't resonate with me is BoxyMozy, the others are class.
    If I was to pick one it would be Atic Atac, the upgrade is absolutely spot on, feels exactly like the original but with a 21st century shine.

    • @BastichB64K
      @BastichB64K  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it had to do with Sierra having no internal C64 team and the fact that at that point when these games were coming out north america had moved into the Amiga and pc as the choices for home computing and Sierra was an American company.
      Id love to see ports as well , I think they could be done well !

      @@BastichB64K this game came out in 1986. Despite the Amiga coming out. The Commodore 64 was still the more sold and more played system. Alot of people couldn't afford to upgrade to an Amiga. The Commodore was still going strong till the early 1990s. They would have sold alot of Space Quest games had they at least made the first 3 for the C=64. I wasn't just going to rush out and buy a PC just to play this game. Lol now Space Quest 4 through 6 I understand where too advanced. But even Origin made Ultima 6 that came out in 1990 for the C=64 and I honestly didnt expect that. I used my Commodore up until 96. Then I boxed her up. Then bought my first PC in 1999. It was a Windows 98 system and I loved it.

      If you capturing footage directly from your real C64 without any mods the footage generally looks terrible on modern tvs and cell phones which is what everyone watches the videos on . I simply use a C64 Maxi which has an HDMI output or Vice on my PC to capture footage . I only use my real C64 to play games casually and it's not used in capturing or video productions .. the realistic loading times alone would mean I never make any videos 🤣

    I dont agree that Atic Atac uses the typical C64 style graphics. The game uses hi-res mono overlaid graphics and not the low-res blocky 2x1 graphics, which is the reason that there is never more than three enemy sprites on the screen at a single time, when on the Speccy version there can be up to five.

    • @BastichB64K
      @BastichB64K  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Then you could enter various locations and inside that, it was side scrolling. I think you had to kill various things like ghosts, ghouls, vampires, stuff like that... My commodore 64 from 1984 and 1541 is still working til this day. I need to find a copy of super mario bros 64 and donkey kong Jr 64, and Prince of Persia 64. They were great ports.

      I dont really follow or care about that sort of thing so im not the person to ask ... There are hundreds i can think of but generally disk based RPGs are worth a lot
