I make no claims as to expertise on this subject, but I'm now coming up to 74 years old and I still rate the Shadows as the greatest instrumental group of all time. Vocals not so much, but instrumentally they're ace!
43 agree, the shadows was all my father listened to when I was a kid and they're so unique, mark Knopfler said he idolised Hank as a kid and still wishes he could get a guitar to sound like Hank can, that's some high praise

My lovely late husband Bernard Wakefield loved the Shadows and on the day of his funeral I played Going Home by The Shadows for him but it meant so much to.me too I just was an emotional wreck when I played it on his onward voyager journey. I still cry when this plays..... Absolutely awesome piece of music

Here, on the other hand, I want to exalt the virtues of drummer Brian Bennet and Bruce Welch on rhythm guitar, who have always played without excess, in order to leave the soul and touch of the soloist in absolute evidence. To them my great esteem.
When was 16.I used listen to 9.00pm broadcast on my transistor radio. Hanks Fender guitar was one of the most fabulous sounds I've ever heard. As an instrumental group they will always be the forerunner & Best for me

No doubt about them, the sound, feeling and love of their music never ceases to please me. I was a drummer and lead singer with my brothers in our band "The Shadows" until Hank and the boys came along and everything changed. There were so many guys trying so hard to copy the incredible sound of Hanks guitar, we came very close but didn't quite make it like many others. We were lucky to see "The Shadows" in their first visit to Australia at the Sydney stadium, they started playing their first instrumental was "Shazam" and the rest I don't think we ready heard any more as we were so entranced by just been there not believing we were just a stones throw from them. Are well the rest is history as I look back and remember all the wonderful times we've played instrumentals by "The Shadows" during many shows we done in over 50 years of entertaining our many fans an lovers of 'The Shadow" wonderful music, I'm pretty sure every show we ever did started off with a Shadows instrumental.
Well, that is not quite true, is it? Mark Knopfler wrote the piece and performed it, so I'd say The Shadows are not the only ones who could give us something like this. But you're right in the respect that it's a great group with Hank Marvin as leader.

I remember one of my schoolmates trying to play ''Foot Tapper'' while travelling to school on the bus in 1963. Who would have thought that the Shadows would still sound as good nearly 60 years later!
Wish they get back together for one finale. My father a big fan and used to take me to concerts as a kid. I'm 45 and I adore them. Hank is gorgeous, Would love to see them again. ❤❤

Thank you, Hank, I know and like The shadows" since I was a child (i was born in 1960). My father made me know this music when I was eight or ten years old (?) and now i' m fan of all your tubes. My prefered song is with Jean Michel Jarre on stage. (excuse my english, I' m french)

At 67yrs old I have been lucky enough to see them twice and I agree with all these comments they are absolutely amazing..
At 81yrs I still believe that the Shadows are the greatest instrumental group the world has produced.

19.30 17/10/23 my parents bought me a shadows album for my 10th birthday, and ever since then I have been a great fan of Hank Marvin.😅

Thank you, Hank, I know and like The shadows" since I was a child (i was born in 1960). My father made me know this music when I was eight or ten years old (?) and now i' m fan of all your tubes. My prefered song is with Jean Michel Jarre on stage. (excuse my english, I' m french)
SEEN THEM 4TIMES . i loved them as a child . that sound on the radio . all the CLIFF stuff the MARVIN sound was always . there . the SHADOWS were miles ahead of the game. there AWESOME .
