    Elvis was one of these very rare performers, who down played his amazing talent. By stating he was just an average performer, which of course he was not. Elvis could sing blue grass, the blues, gospel, pop, country, love ballads, rock n roll any type of music. I cannot for the life of me think of another performer who could have done what Elvis achieved? Yet Elvis stayed down to earth just so humble and shy and every God fearing.

    I'm watching Kid Galahad as we speak. It's always been one of my favorites of Elvis movies. One thing you can be sure of even in the worst Elvis movie, is that there will be a good fight scene. Elvis never disappointed in those scenes. He looked realistic, had good punches, chops. He would do some nice flips and kicks too.

    Elvis was the first actor to be paid $1 million for a film. While a number of his movies were just formula stock, they all made money and saved at least two studios (I think it was 3, but not sure) from going bankrupt. Elvis may have hated some of the movies he starred in, but he always gave the best he had to make them successful. In total, there were 31 movies and 3 documentaries. The documentary "Elvis on Tour" made back its production costs within 3 days of its release - which was/is unheard of. I think the major movie chains are missing what could be a major revenue stream. Imagine if your local theater had a once-a-month screening of an Elvis movie. It'd take them close to three years to show them all. And if they showed them once a week, it would take close to 8 months, after which they could start over. They could also add the 68 Special and the Aloha From Hawaii concerts to the mix. Speaking only for myself, I'd pay to go to see them all.
    ******Ray, congrats on 93K. Won't be long now - your days as Manager are numbered. UNLESS you want to keep some of that as a side gig. LOL. Love you guys. KP

      Just to add to that, RCA wasn't doing well at all when they signed Elvis. He was their Biggest money maker and made them a powerhouse in the business. But they treated him as badly as the movie studios. They did hardly any promotion of him or his music while raking in the cash! They did the bare minimum, which explains some of his songs that should have been #1 hits weren't! They used the money they got from sales of Elvis to promote Other singers More than they ever promoted Elvis! Singers they wouldn't have gotten if it weren't for Elvis being on their label. Just like the movie studios taking the money Elvis made to finance Other actors in Better movies and not giving Elvis better movies! 🤬🤬 He wasn't treated right from his manager on down, his whole career! 🤬

    AND THANK YOU MR. ANDRE SIR FOR THIS ONE 💙🌹💐💙🌹💐💙🌹💐💙🌹💐
    And now for Elvis Extras!
    (Fingers crosses this one doesn't go 💨💨)
    First: The 1962 "Kid Galahad" is actually a remake of a 1937 "Kid Galahad" starring Humphrey Bogart and with none other than Michael Curtiz as the director of that film. Yep! The very same Michael Curtiz that would go on to direct Elvis's 4th film "King Creole".
    2nd: For anyone here that is a boxing fan/ historian you might find this interesting: Mushy Callahan, world champion junior welterweight boxer, served as Elvis' boxing coach for his boxing scenes. Mr. Callahan also served as technical adviser/fight choreographer on such films as 'Gentleman Jim', 'From Here To Eternity' and 'The Great White Hope'. He was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1989.
    Also making the fight scenes more authentic was Orlando do la Fuente who played Sugarboy Romero. At the time he was an undefeated welterweight boxer.
    Jimmy Lennon, the fight announcer from the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, added his voice as the fight announcer for 'Kid Galahad'. Mr. Lennon played the fight announcer in a number of other movies.
    3rd (and lastly): For straight up Elvis fans: To prepare for his role, Elvis trained with former junior welterweight champion Mushy Callahan.Coaching the young singer was Mushy Callahan, the junior welterweight champion from 1926 to 1930. Callahan had been plying his skills around Hollywood for some time, having coached actors Kirk Douglas, Errol Flynn, and others in boxing-related films. Callahan was always conscious of training an actor so that his boxing skills suited the character. Callahan praised Elvis for his natural athletic skills -- at least in the publicity for the film. 'He's got a good physique and excellent coordination', the old pro revealed in an interview. 'He never boxed before but he picked it up quick because of his karate training.'
    Elvis also went on a protein diet and exercise regime for his role in "Kid Galahad" and dropped twelve pounds during training and filming.
    And that is it everyone!
    Hope all is well with you & yours Ray and one & all here too!
    TCB ⚡ & TLC ❤ & peace ✌ & blessings 🙏 to you & yours & to one & all here as well 💕

      Wow! Sammy thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I know alot about Elvis, but there's always more to learn about this exceptional man! I've been a fan for 66 years and I get so upset how the bashers just talk about his cheating and drugs and now with Pricillas help trying to make him a pedophile 🤬! They do it to cash in, pure and simple! They never got all about his IQ which was in the genius range, and his thirst for knowledge on any subject, his kindness towards Everyone, his generosity, his patriotism, his belief in God, producing his own music( the sound he wanted)his amazing talent and voice unmatched ( singing any genre) but also all his health issues he fought through ( including severe pain at times) just to entertain his fans and support not just his extended family, but employed so many people, he was an industry! I could go on, but this is too long already 😂😂 thank you Sammy for informing and educating not just Ray, but the rest of us❤❤❤

      I don't pay attention to the haters. I've done my research.
      Was Elvis a perfect human?
      No. No, he wasn't.
      But neither were some others around him during his life as innocent as they claim they were. (I will say I have compassion for the girl that Priscilla once was, but I do not at all like the woman she has since become.)

    Good morning Ray 🌻, I'm reading a book called "Elvis and the Colonel" and among various things, the book says that Elvis didn't like making this type of film, he wanted more involved films where he could demonstrate more. However, I liked him in all the ones I saw, he was a professional and his frustration wasn't visible, he was good at everything and in this film he becomes a boxer and in a scene where he argues with his "let's say boss" his eyes are flaming . Thanks for the reaction. Always and in any case I will love my king on earth. 🎶🎸👑❤️✌️🍀

    This is a good movie. Elvis could act! Hollyweird screwed him big time. He had a lot of prominent actors acting beside him, Walter Matteau, Barbara Eden, Charles Bronson, Richard Egan, Dolores Hart, Gig Young, Debra Paget, Barbara Stanwyck, Victor French. Every interview I've seen or read of an actor who acted with him said if he was given the right material he would have been a great actor.

      Elvis was actually very good on the guitar, piano and drums, you're just so jealous of Elvis. That the hate is eating you from the inside out. So Elvis never wrote a song so what? Elvis could interpret a song better than anyone else.

      @@user-dr2yc1de9e Why would I be jealous of Elvis, lmao. He was also a terrible actor. The only reason they had him in movies was because he made money for them. It is all in his Bodyguard's book if you read it. I am just stating facts. Yes his singing was the best back then and he was a great entertainer. That was all he was. He wasn't a good father either. He cheated so many times. I am 75 and thought he was great back then, but a true great person would write many songs for themselves. He never had the ability to write his own.

    • @Kathryne0816
      @Kathryne0816 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      According to those around him, Elvis was an average guitar player, but a talented bass player - he once took the bass away in a recording session, and played the bass line himself on the track. He was completely self-taught on the piano, and dabbled with drums and a few other instruments. He almost always opened his show with his guitar - See See Rider or That's Alright Mama - but the majority of his concerts were dedicated to his singing. As far as songwriting - on a few occasions he might have added a lick, or a phrase, but little else. But the era of the singer/songwriter didn't really begin until the later 60s and 70s, so it wasn't expected by anyone, including Elvis. But part of Elvis' magic was his ability to take a song - any song - and by adding his own style to it, make it his own and make it special. Nobody could do that the way Elvis did.

    • @user-dr2yc1de9e
      @user-dr2yc1de9e 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@larrybutler8948 I do not care what you think, you have your opinion and you're entitled to it. But to say Elvis was a bad actor shows you do not know what you're talking about. Elvis was a good actor and if he had been given better story lines he would have proved it. As for being a bad father again your talking utter crap Elvis was a wonderful father to his only child Lisa Marie. So what if Elvis had other women that does not make ELVIS a bad father. Now on the other hand priscilla wagner beaulieu was a terrible, terrible mother she abandoned her only biological daughter Lisa Marie at the age of 12 years old. To the cult group called the church of Scientology because Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu could not control her. Priscilla also purposely starved herself and continued to ride horses when pregnant though Elvis and the doctors advised her not too. When it comes to cheating do not forget about Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu who tricked Elvis into marriage she was not even a virgin at 14 years old. She had a sexual relationship with a close friend of her stepdad called Currie Grant who was 28 years old at the time. Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu found out that Currie Grant knew Elvis and Currie Grant who was married at the time with a child fancied priscilla wagner beaulieu. So priscilla decided to have sex with Currie Grant so she could meet Elvis. So before judging Elvis do some real research and yes you're plain jealous of Elvis it sticks out a mile. PS priscilla wagner beaulieu also cheated on Elvis as much as he cheated on her so get your facts straight. As far as being a song writer Elvis never claimed to be able to write songs but he could certainly interpret a song better than another performer that's for sure.
