When you buy anything from Harbor Freight you want to check it all out and make sure everything is tight and put together so it doesn’t fly apart .. if it’s properly put together they last longer ..
🤭 Hydraulic oil is low compressibility, so My guess is...Once you screwed the cap onto the barrel, the Hydro Oil in the pail assumed is was working as if being jammed into a cylinder to make a piston push out and rise-up...it blew the Head & cap off along with the Gland / Baring Cartridge. Fluid dynamics worked and the operator for got this. Motor Oil is for high heat resistance and won't fight the compression... we now use a mechanical 'suction' pump...NO back pressure... the little 16$ oil pump wasn't designed for what it was used for... How we have actually made one of these little pumps work for a time...don't screw it down to the lid

I've tried to take mine apart and see if I can replace an o-ring or something and I can't seem to get it apart, do these come apart at all

Yes , this is a p.o.s pump...don't buy or you will end up dumping it in the trash..
