Mowing a Contour Strip on Ridgewind Farm

This is finally the last first cutting from our little mountain farm in the edge of Appalachia. We used "Ridgewind Rubra Rube" a young gelding that had never mowed before and he did real well. This is the I and J Heavy duty ground driven PTO cart and Double Sickle mower, 7 ft. cut. Thanks to Corb Lund for giving us permission to use his music on our homemade videos, this song is entitled "Horse Soldier". Also thanks to Gypsy Dave and the Stump Jumpers for the few bars at the end. Now if we can get a couple of days without rain we will have more feed for the winter. This is the worse year for making hay weather wise that I've ever experienced in 30 years of farming. Hope you enjoy it!

The white stuff you see in the field is fleabane a weed that is not eaten by any stock. It sort of looks like buckwheat in this image.

Looks like you are missing the piece at the end of the bar that directs the cut grass from the next swath.
