Value in relationships is relative and it's all about equal rights all the way these days. I've been married for 20 years and counting to a woman who has the same education, the same social status and makes the same amount of money I do. We literally built our life together, each of us paying half of everything, or better, we don't even have separate bank accounts, our incomes go into the same account, our spendings go out, at the end of the month there's something leftover to go into savings, neither of us cares whether one of us might have spent more than the other. We're both only average earners, we shared the same dream, which was early retirement and with two average incomes combined we both were able to retire at 55. It doesn't get more valuable than that.
