    Great video! Following your suggestion I am using 2d features only and was able to simulate my test flume successfully. Mind I ask what is the grid size for the tutorial flume? The deposition & erosion profile in RAS MAPPER seem pretty rounded and smooth.

      The rounded result comes from subgrid mapping of sediment results which the model used to do by default, but it introduces some numerical artifacts so now we only do it if you actually simulate subgrid sediment (which the model doesn't do by default)

    Thank you for your videos!
    after the simulation I'm not able to export the raster of total load concentration and total transport rate maps, error message: exception not managed by the application (translation from the italian "eccezione non gestita dall'applicazione).
    Where am I wrong??
    thank you

    Hello,
    Thanks for your video. These new features looks great. Will new transport functions be available (like Recking or Wong & Parker)?

      Yes, we have added three transport functions for 2D. Soulsby-van Rijn, van Rijn, and Wu. Wong Parker is already available. Just choose MPM and then go to Options-->Calibrate Transport Functions and press the button to set the MPM coefficients to the Wong Parker Correction. RAS knows to modify the shear partition if you do that as well.

      I did just record a podcast with Alain Recking and he provided a multi-grain class version of his transport function that we are reviewing. The obstacle to Recking in the past was that it was a bulk transport function.

      lo siento, I'm working on my Spanish, but it will be a long time before I could do a video en espanol

      You may already follow this channel, but this is a Spanish RAS channel that seems really helpful: www.youtube.com/@anajuarezgomez690

    Good day, Sir, I was wondering if you can share us the version of this 2D sediment output. I have sent you an email regarding this request. Thank you very much.

      It looks like the beta release will slip into the summer. I'll post here when it is available. Thanks for your interest.

    Can this do bank erosion models?

    • @stanfordgibson
      @stanfordgibson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1D sediment model in RAS has a bank erosion module (the USDA-ARS BSTEM model), but we don't have that connected in 2D, and don't have near-term plans to.

      This paper gives an overview of the 1D bank erosion capabilities: www.researchgate.net/publication/327280511_A_PHYSICALLY-BASED_CHANNEL-MODELING_FRAMEWORK_INTEGRATING_HEC-RAS_SEDIMENT_TRANSPORT_CAPABILITIES_AND_THE_USDA-ARS_BANK-STABILITY_AND_TOE-EROSION_MODEL_BSTEM
