Congratulations to Turkey for creating an environment in which these two leaders could have an open and honest discussion about how to overcome their differences. Many countries are advocating war between these two countries because they believe it will benefit their own country if they fight. It is refreshing to see someone promoting peace instead of inciting violence.

Turkey has done a commendable job in bringing together Ethiopia and Somalia, who have long been at loggerheads over Ethiopia's aspiration to secure access to the sea through a bilateral agreement with the self-declared independent state of Somaliland. Mainland Somalia accuses Ethiopia of encroaching on its sovereignty by pursuing this cause.
We must admire the courage of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for agreeing to sit at the negotiation table and discuss the crisis to achieve an amicable settlement. This reflects the wisdom and maturity of a leader who values sustainable, negotiated resolutions to disputes.
Ethiopia's Prime Minister has demonstrated remarkable acumen in conflict resolution. His assertion that "we are blood brothers and sisters," spoken with passion and an emphasis on shared ancestry, reflects a genuine commitment to fostering unity.
It is hoped that both parties will recognize the merits of regional economic integration over rivalry and identity-driven competition, which often lead to hostility and zero-sum outcomes.

As we are young African generation we want Nation like Turky, which can brink togather entire African Continent, not to devide and role like previous Conception of British colony, so we need as Economically, Politically integration, and free movement. And each of our African leaders they don't understand the benefit of unity like American Continent very importante. But why most African Countries they don't have open
Boundary, instead of free movement and integration or to do Comitative they are enemy each other, and conflict, new tentions for every months. So if our leaders fail to here each other and do Workmates, Let us get trust country which can play that role and meddiate between African. So we hope for both Nations and Entire African Continent to get Peace, stability, and Prosperity.

This is a clear case of hypocrisy of the worst kind. All of the three people in the meeting are lying through their teeth. The core problem to be resolved is the memorandum of understanding between Ethiopia and Somaliland in which Ethiopia gains access to Somaliland seas against extending recognition of Somaliland. End of the story Ethiopia can only gain access to Berbera port with an exclusive agreement with Somaliland.

The so-called agreement is utterly meaningless for Ethiopia because Somaliland will never grant access unless Ethiopia recognizes its independence, and Somalia lacks any real control over Somaliland. This entire narrative about port access is a farce, a distraction orchestrated by Abiy to divert attention from Ethiopia's internal conflict and project relevance in the Horn of Africa. In reality, he has only raised alarm among neighboring countries, forcing them to consider what desperate moves Ethiopia might make to regain access to the sea.
The truth is, Ethiopia willingly gave up its strategic Red Sea coastline in Assab when the TPLF government allowed Eritrea to secede in 1991. How can a country relinquish such a vital asset and now lament its landlocked status? Ethiopia lost its access to the sea with Eritrea’s secession and also failed to reclaim Djibouti after a century-long deal with France. Global powers like the U.S., the Arab states, and the EU played their part in ensuring Ethiopia remained landlocked-a geopolitical failure that continues to haunt the nation.
Looking at a map, it’s clear how close Ethiopia is to the sea and how Eritrea’s borders were deliberately shaped to trap Ethiopia inland-a colonial strategy by Italy that still cripples the nation. Despite never being fully colonized like other African nations, Ethiopia bears an unbearable colonial legacy, worsened by poor leadership and anti-Ethiopian sentiment from its neighbors. The West, too, plays a role in keeping the Red Sea out of the hands of a stronger regional power, fearful of Ethiopia’s potential dominance over this crucial maritime route.
Ethiopia faces a monumental challenge in regaining access to the sea, whether by convincing the West to change their stance or finding alternative means. One thing is clear: it cannot continue in this landlocked limbo forever.

Abiy has already asked Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia for sea access, not just a port, but all of them said no. So, I can't believe he would simply give up on his demand for sea access given his ambition. Your comment seems to be based on Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's fear that Ethiopia might annex Somaliland in the name of sea access. But that's just fear without any concrete evidence. On the other hand, Ethiopia’s ambition to access the sea is perfectly reasonable-it's not fair for a country of over 120 million people to remain landlocked. Additionally, Somalia is also strictly afraid that Ethiopia might recognize Somaliland, but recognition is not something that can be based on material exchanges. Let's consider this: If the USA were to recognize Somaliland, what would Somalia do about it?
