I cant imagine how difficult or hard it was for you to come out to your friends and family , and your such a brave person you have all of my respect , I know we don't know each other but your blew me away with your story and its amazing what you've accomplished. Be who you are and don't let anyone tell u different :)
When I come across coming out videos I sit in my room and really listen. Because it takes a lot of guts to do this and especially in your school situation. Best wishes, and hopefully others can accept you for who you truly are someday.
This is really really inspirational, thankyou Austin. I'm really upset about your school, you did the right thing by leaving I mean they gave you no choice. Proud of you!
I´m from Germany and I just started watching your videos and they are amazing. This video is very brave (and so are you) and I like how you talk about coming out! All of your videos or at least most of them have a good message. You have to tell the whole world something and I like that you do it! So love you (and Nicolay of cause) pleace make more videos :D
Coming back to this years later, this video and your channel were really important to me when I was closeted and helped me come out. So thank you for making these
I'm glad your environment was so supportive. I'm 16 and go to a catholic school. I'm preparing to come out. Hopefully it goes as well as it did for you.
Thanks for making your video, It really inspired me to see you being able to be so brave, i am already out and I am glad that you were able to make that step too. Just remember this isn't a one and done process, you will be coming out repeatedly during your life, the first time is the hardest but it gets better. Also I hope you make a lot of friends at your new school! It is really sad that your school would kick you out like that, it seems to me like they aren't as christian as they claim to be. Either way I know you have a bright future ahead of you, you will go far in life with or without that school. I subscribed and hope to see more of you videos soon! P.s. I came here because of SupDaily06 :)
Coming out was scary I can out when I was 15 and was discriminated against and curb stomped but I am so happy that society has made some progress and glad you are in the world. Thank u
U are so amazing and great and wonderful I don't even know what to say. All your videos are amazing and this video is so wonderful and heartwarming. Thank you so much for making this video and just being such a great person.
Seriously tho, your impression of your mom saying "Oh My God, Did You Do Drugs?" was hilarious! But good coming out video by the way! Love is love and you only get one life and live it to your fullest!
Amazing video. I'm a full grown-up adult but watching this #comingout video makes easier what I went through-because it is uplifting to see how far we have progressed and matured so as to allow people to safely be happy, be healthy, and be themselves! Great work, Austin Wallis.
Are you getting Cucumber, Banana, and Tofu in the US? Cucumber and Banana are interlinked dramas by Russell T. Davies, who created Queer as Folk. Tofu is a factual show on LGBT issues. www.channel4.com/programmes/cucumber
idk why, I just can't stop lookin on your eyes. your eyes and your eyebrow look so beautiful. congratulation on your coming out and have a great day.from Indonesia :)
The video helped me even though I already came out. I liked the thing you said about the way our parents react is normal, and I realized that's so true. Thanks I'll be starting videos some time too.
I am a subscriber and I like ur videos very much. What you said about ur Mom's reaction is so true cuz it happened with me the same way. My Mom was so upset and sad when I came out, all she could say was say "oh shit" and "dammit" and that worried me a lot and I got real nervous till she explained why she was so upset......grandchildren... And she worried that I'd never find someone to be happy with and would end up alone for the rest of my life. That one really upset her the most cuz man did she cry a lot about that one. Then I realized something .....she loved me so much she worried about my future happiness. So like you and many others I experienced an emotional and somewhat confrontational coming out with my Mom. But because she does love me so much she was willing to listen and change if it meant all of us learning and being happy as a family. You're a remarkable young man and I'm so happy you have such a caring and loving family. I believe your boyfriend is a real hero for you, he has stood by ur side because of his love for you. I admire the way he supports you throughout all ur recent trials with ur old school and other difficulties. Your coming out experience in Texas could've been a lot more difficult if it wasn't for ur family and ur boyfriend. Also I think ur compassion and empathy for others helped you to see the big picture where others may have just saw a teenage gay kid, they missed out on a truly inspiring friendship. God bless and live love and laugh ..... Big hugs 😇
Thanks for sharing! I'm 16 and live in Texas too and our stories are very similar. Glad everything worked out well for you. You should continue to make videos. 😀
Hi recently seen ur video of FB an had to check out ur channel! It really tugged at the ol heart strings lol my dad didn't come out till he was almost 50 I can't imagine living my whole life not being able to be who I really was and how awful that must be. I just had to say how proud I was of you and the courage and confidence and conviction you have in urself. So awesome to see. Love the videos love the channel huge fan xoxoxo
Happy all be good at shcool and with your family. It's so a huge weight less on your shoulder. Nice video and thanks for all people you'll help to come out and be happy. :)
Kudos to you, Bro!!! I too am gay. I'm also a cop in the southern United States (commonly known as the Bible belt) which didn't make my coming out any easier. I am 35 and only wish that I could have come out and been myself at your age. Being a gay teen in the 90's was not nearly as accepted as it is now. I didn't feel comfortable enough coming out until I was around 23 or 24 years old. I'm so glad that the gay rights movement is still progressing and that kids like you are making this happen. Because of brave kids like you continuing to make an impact on the gay rights movement everyday, me being out at work amongst the guys isn't such a big thing anymore. Sure they all have questions and wonder, but they all seem to be accepting of me as one of their law enforcement brothers. Things will only continue to get better with time where one day being gay won't even be an issue. Thank you for what you're doing!!
Goodness me, you're such a beautiful person, as far as I can see. I'm so glad that your coming out went so well :D You're really very blessed. Keep being the amazingly strong person you are and don't let the haters get you down! Worse comes to worst, you could always come to Canada ;) We'll welcome you with open arms.
Hey Austin! I think you are very brave for sharing this video. I think it's great. I subscribed! I was so nervous when I made my own coming out video, but u seem to be very confident. I think you did a great job. I wish u all the best!
Instagram is how i started to come out, luckily it was just a couple days ago and its during summer. I havent told my parents yet, but your video may help me when i tell them! Thank you sooooo much!
Thanks for sharing your story. Your courage and audacity make a huge difference. It's especially inspiring that you came out in a context in which one would assume there would be a lot of negative judgment of people who are homosexual. Keep growing, deepening and balancing your confidence and humility.
I came out three months ago, at first I told a few people but when I told my family I used Facebook. And honestly it was terrifying but I found way easier than face to face. But I agree with you 100%
This is my current situation... I posted a post in Instagram that was hinting at it because I was bullied and beaten up and other people had convinced me that I was gay but I so wasn't ready and I still am not able to accept myself. I can't even say the word gay out loud, it just makes my anxiety spike and I can't take it
(ik the reply is 2 years late) but I hope things are better with you now. That must be such a awful feeling to have. But do know your not alone and some day (if u haven't already) you'll meet someone who will always be there for u and support you through every twist and turn
I havent come out to most of my family. Only 2 of my aunts, my uncles mom, my mom and my brother know im bi. But Im still afraid of telling the truth to my family since most of my family are old school christians (Going to church every sunday, preaching, etc) and I know that it will be a dark day for me. Thats why I decided to tell them Im bi when I move out of my family's house, away from judgement. I mean aside from them, ALOT of people know im bi on Instagram. I applaud you, someone whos younger than me (19 here) had the bigger balls to come out. Im glad you were a brave one.
For future reference (and for anyone thinking about coming out watching this video), when you're getting ready to come out, do NOT ask them to guess what it is. It's cruel to them, and not real pleasant for you when they start guessing much worse things than what the truth is.
I remember the day and the person I told I was gay. I was 21 and it was to my room mate in the Navy. It was such a freeing experience. Love your vlogs.
Had I seen this 4 years ago, I'd have given you the coveted Brass Balls Award for 2014. Being out in Christian Texas at age 16 took the courage of a man. Congratulations.
This is really close to my coming out story, to anyone still looking in the comments of this video I told 2 of my friends, then my family. No one really cared and it felt great to tell people who I was. The next day I went to school and we had a weird schedule so I was able to tell everyone and I cut ties with people who didn't like it and basically in a day a 12 year old gay boy in Delaware became the most talked about person and the most boss ass bitch.
I, myself, am thinking about posting videos about many things, personal life, comedy, violin covers, etc., etc. Do you think a "My Coming Story" would be a good first video?
At yesterday night, after watching this video I texted to my mom to tell her that I am gay, and I need to thank YOU, because I have watched literally every coming out story on the YT and just though how cool that would be if I came out. Right now I have to say thank you cause I feel like it happened just because of you. I love you and your videos and once again thank you for all of that stuff that you are doing
i don't know if you'll ever read this.. but when i came out to my parents they didn't cry or do anything like that just a yep.. and went back to what they where doing.. and now i feel like i went wrong somewhere..

+IanBubbleGum Do it when you are ready. If you're not ready and don't feel safe, wait. I know it's hard, but you can do this. Have faith. And since you wrote this message two months ago, if you have already come out in between that time I just want to say. Congrats. And if you haven't. Congrats! You've made it this far :)

This was great! I live in a really tiny town, and Im mortified about coming out. Thank you so much. Youre so inspirational

Videos like these are important for a lot of people. Thanks for your honesty, candor and beautiful words.
Such intelligent, thoughtful and considered - so very mature and insightful, especially about your mother. Much respect for you. Love.
I wish I could speak with a fraction of the eloquence you do, Austin. Congratulations and well done.
