Love this!! I’m from South LA straight out the 40’s born and raised!! So I can definitely relate!! These 2 men are legends and our 2 of the greats out of our city!! I love seeing this. Just puts a smile on my face!! Keep it going guys!!
Keyshawn Johnson, Paul Pierce, Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Richard Sherman, Marcellus Wiley, Demar Derozan, Darryl Strawberry all LA/Compton/Southern California legends.
Shoutout to Dorsey & Inglewood High School. Make these public schools great again! I hate seeing schools like Mater Dei & Bosco take all of the great inner city kids out of their home schools just to use them for sports.
*They took Dorsey & Crenshaw out of the Southern Pacific Conference to diminish the competition. They started 20+ charter schools to split up the talent. They then started the State Championship for football and out of State Football games using Maxpreps.*
Finally, I have been waiting for this. We need a follow-up round table of the L.A. dudes in pro sports. Do a segment on football or basketball and then do one with entertainers of people from L.A. We need to document the history and connections.
I moved from Omaha to Inglewood in 74. I was in middle school and attended Pastuer Jr. High. First time I saw Crips was during school and they were walking outside. Instincts told me this wasn’t the boyscouts.
I loved my time at Dorsey High School. Great teachers, great classmates, great atmosphere. The only negative thing that happened while I was there, was one day after school there was a drive by shooting in front of the school, and the bullet got the wrong guy. A student who had a 4.0 grade average, and was already accepted to a four year university caught that bullet, and was killed.
Great content Keyshwan. Your best episode by far. I'm from Detroit Michigan I've never been to Cali so it's always interesting to hear about how great players grew up and made it out .
Dorsey Basketball - L.A. City Champs in 1976. I played on the “B” team 1973-1974. There were some games where no fans were allowed in the gym. And playing at Locke and Centennial was a literal gauntlet. They forgot about the Herald Examiner newspaper.
Crazy. Talking about growing up you couldn’t go into certain neighborhoods but now it’s somewhat ok because it’s gentrified. We are our own worst enemies 😢.
If I'm not mistaken Rob Kardashian graduated from Dorsey Keyshawn was my favorite receiver growing up him and Tim Brown with my guys and Roy Williams always recruited out of South Central LA he also got Jaq Vaughan
Great video. Y'all boys need more action. You're real and everyone who comes from a certain place can relate. And those who aren't can learn. Excellent job.
Black people still reside in LA. Whenever I'm there, I might notice a couple of them around, but LA feels very different from NYC. In New York we everywhere you look.
Crenshaw 1985 we loved going up to Dorsey even during class we would go up to Dorsey to holla at the fly girls back then. Big John Dirty Red Braggs. we ran yall in bball homie. But cant forget about Banning and Carson during the 80s.
Went to the D-House ,Played B-Ball,Key was supposed to come join the Team,But ??? Lamont Warren ended up playing he also played in the NFL... Donsup...
If you all remember this came from a discussion on keyshawn Johnson's podcast him and Paul Pierce discussing the parameters of Los Angeles both being from Los Angeles, I've been following this conversation since , not only that Los Angeles is my older brother's second home 💯🔥🫵🏽🤣😂... Shout out to all my Los Angeles people tapping in from Kansas City Missouri ....🫵🏽🔥💯
i Played Pick Up Basketball at Dorsey High School in South Central L.A. in 1991 with Lavar Ball .. We 1st went to Crenshaw High but it was Closed so We went to Dorsey High School an Put it Down
I played with Key in 1991 and knocked out the playoffs against Banning HS. The refs called back 3 touchdowns. A riot started afterwards 😮 We won the City Championship in 1992 against Banning HS with Kareem Abdul Jabbar 🎉
90’s LA was INSANE!!!! Only the REAL know!! Ain’t no IG, TikTok tok videos here only old school VHS. Who got the tapes on the gang wars of the 90’s? Worth a fortune now
I went to Kennedy out in the Valley and we played at Dorsey and won in basketball 82 playoffs, and we were not intimidated at all. We were the first school that got caught up in the recruiting violation in 1981 thanks to Maxine Waters she let us play
Let's hear your biggest takeaway from Keyshawn & Paul's journey ⬇
Two Legends in Two different games
Will you guys be going to Paul school!
They didn't get caught up in the gangs. They pursued their dreams to make it out of L.A. 🏀🏈
"Circumstances do not determine destinations, Choices do!!"
Keyshawn Johnson why don’t you mention when you went to Dorsey whose floor you slept on?
"Where you from" L.A. top trending question in the 90s
