I just got this game a couple of hours ago and I'm really enjoying it. After playing the game for a couple of hours I decided to look for starter tips and I found this, I watched this all the way to the end and this is very useful. :)
I hope you get to see this comment even after a couple of years of you publishing the video; I've seen this guide about 3 times so far, each time, I kinda interiorize something even more, it's the only reasonably good guide that I was able to find on TH-cam for this game, that's crazy. I decided to purchase it because I came across it on my discovery queue on Steam and even better, it was on sale and I liked the art design. Unfortunately, this is not up to date anymore, although, about 90% of the guide is extremely helpful (of course, it hasn't change THAT much), the only thing I'd suggest that could be better is, this has several "spoilers" of your villagers gear potential. I do recommend the game a lot, although it's honestly in the high complexity range and it doesn't come with any kind of tutorial itself, the "tutorial" the game "provides" would be like: Follow your villagers wishes but that's not really telling a lot for how complex things can get to advance. Anyways, thank you so much for making this guide for Founders Fortune, really helpful to enjoy the game way better.
Actually I avoid tireless because it's cheap to buy later with 2 points. Better to aim for traits that cost more. Like battle experience or survivalist. Optimistic is 3 points and having that early is fine.
Yes I would certainly agree that if you're going for a power hungry village and fighting a lot, intentionally, go for those 100%. But most first play through individuals will be avoiding battle enough to make it a waste of a trait since they wouldn't get the most out of it.
I just wanted to thank you for this video, I saw that I watched it the last time I played which was a couple years ago, and I re-watched it now as a refresher when playing again!
Made it to tip 10. I keep running into a death spiral by year two. I've starved my poor people. When I start I rush to build a large bunk house and never seem to have enough people for every job. I also push to get animals early and that might be a mistake.
If food is an issue I would ignore animals until you're good to go. Grab ever new person that shows up and if you can have 3 people on the farm, 2 for watering and 1 for planting you'll be perfectly fine. Then you can set them up to do other tasks secondarily as well.
how do you get the "Just in Time" achievement? it says i need to "save a villager from bleeding out when they have less than 10% of their health left" but after my last attack i let one of my villagers bleed down to like 3% HP until i bandaged them and i still didn't get it, so i guess i did it wrong, what does "saving" them mean?
I haven't done it myself, I would assume you just need to bandage them when they get low enough. Could test this out in a new world, just have them fight each other and save the one who starts bleeding out?

Do you know how animals breed? Do they need to be tamed? And how often do they breed because they keep dying off from old age in my games without breeding. (While tamed)
As long as you have 2 they should breed often enough to never disappear. The more the better of course in terms of speed. They also need to be cared for as well. As long as they're cared for and still tamed you should be good with at least 2 of the same animal

Is there any right clicking involved in this game? I really love this game but, for some reason, I can't right click using my laptop. So afraid to buy it. What's up with the right click thing and laptops?
I feel you, I've had it happen on 2 of my laptops before. This game is heavy on the right clicks so I definitely suggest a mouse, not sure why but those laptop keys are just so finicky. You can switch the button around for left and right click. I pretty much used to left click with the track pad, and I changed right click to the left click button. But if you can't get right click to work well, I would sadly had to not suggest this for you :(

That's a great idea, I do go over it in depth within our series, somewhere, but I can make something for it. Short answer, increase the relations between two people. Then when it hits max they'll have a baby! 👶
@@Milescrosskarting ROFL not sure if same sex couples can adopt (never tested it myself) but the child can indeed live in the same house as the parents. Or separately! They don't care at all either way.
@@Milescrosskarting They can live separately. Once they are a couple though you can move them into the same house / room and it doesn't mess with their needs.
At this point I wouldn't say too long, maybe 20 hours. At about 45 now, and the last episode of the series comes out this week! We finally beat the game.

I have a much smaller garden, they can water plants a bunch, and I was getting 5 potatoes per plant 3 tomatoes with two farmers.
I'll try out the small patches next run, find the best balance

Yeah the UI is honestly pretty rough. Once you get used to it it's fine enough though.
