This is an outline of the process to provide water for animals in an area with elephants. There is a huge amount of work that goes into not only drilling the borehole, but also trenching the pipe deep enough that the elephants do not destroy it. The borehole itself is surrounded by a deep and wide trench with the soil piled on the inside. Atop this, large leadwood logs are placed using earth moving equipment. The scent of fresh water eminating from the borehole makes elephant want to get to the source. Once they do, the rip out the pipes, the pumps and all the solar wiring.
