Many victims may not even know they have been targeted by this, because the majority of the actual SA happens when they are slipped something that incapacitates them or they are asleep, the only reason they might know is because the perpetrator may leave behind physical evidence, like bruises, scratches, or bodily fluids. This is an illusion. Animation is animation; there's nothing inherently different whether it's "mainstream" or "independent". Mainstream just means made for a bigger audience, while independent tends to be made for a smaller niche audience; but the moment "independent" productions gain mainstream-level popularity, it becomes mainstream itself and the big companies will emulate.

i randomly stumbled upon this video and after watching it i might say: i got chills! the storytelling from the trailer alome is beautiful, and i already see a lot of personality from the main character and their evolution. Cant wait!
It's hard to believe it's been about half a year since you guys showed this trailer. It's actually been a huge inspiration for me to make my own dark horroresque love merfolk love story, and I'm sure it's going to be an even bigger inspiration to more folks when the full film comes out. If I'm going to Predict the Plot. The Sirena is seducing her to free her than once she is free she'll drown the female chief as revenge for locking her up. Serena are not really that kind if we are going to be Folklore accurate.
My same thought, thats exactly what they do in the lore. The show also seems like its tone is too dark for a happy ending aswell, but im still down to watch it when its out, the animation looks too darn good not to
As a Southeast Asian (from Malaysia), I'm hella excited. As a queer man, I'm cheering you guys on. as an artist myself, I'm hella inspired to keep working hard on my art and my creations. This looks amazing. From the animation, the colours right down to the sound mixing, it's captivating. Keep it up.
@Mint well as a malaysian myself, i mostly see older generations hating on the lgbtq, youngsters these days are so exposed to it that many of them dont really mind it anymore. As a matter of fact, im seeing more and more young queers being open about it in public. Though, this is just from my point of view, maybe some other people might disagree.

Many times I have created my own fantasy mermaid x human/different creature in the current era or in fantasy worlds, but the concept of a chef EATING mermaids??? Gutting, visceral. I love every single frame, the designs are amazing, the use of light and on top of everything, this movie is based where my boyfriend grew up. I can't wait to see it, In love with the concept frfr

It's amazing that it's raised so much already. I've never heard of a sapphic story that's this dark before. Very interesting. I'll be sure to lend my support. Also, animation sounds like the best medium for LGBTQ+ themed projects and stories. I'm on board!
Have you watched the Haunting of Bly manor? The focus isn't necessarily on queer people but it does have sapphic characters in a horror setting. Also mayhaps have you read gothic, sci-fi book Gideon the ninth (locked tomb series)? I personally think there's tons of wlw horror, gothic, and "dark" fantasy stories, most of them are just in comic or book form.
Absolutely ready to listen to Black Dresses while picturing the emotional arc this film. This is the kind of brutal/beautiful and honest depiction of trauma and codependent destructive relationships that we all deserve. And you can tell that the premise fully came from the heart. The animation industry has been over saturated by contrived concepts which have been alienated from the passion of the artists for far too long! This is precisely what we need. ❤
i love the designs, the chefs sleeves look like gills which really ties the whole thing together. The story seems really cool and I cannot wait until this fully made!

I really hope the extra money from the kickstarter (which will soon be 5x the set goal) will encourage these people to release more of these types of films. LGBT and 2D animations are two things you don't see a lot of these days, and pretty much never together.

...the fact that you guys are called Studio Heartbreak, and that you offer an "alternate ending" on your Kickstarter campaign, gives me a bad feeling about the conclusion of this film. Is this... is this going to be a tragedy? 😣 I'm not sure my heart could take it. It all looks so _good_ though. The animation, the tension, the voice acting - it all comes together into a trailer I couldn't look away from. I want to watch it so bad, even though I suspect the ending will make me cry. I want to glimpse the good times, even if I can anticipate the despair. On second thought, if that was the intention, your studio has an incredibly appropriate name.
I like the detail of the cook imagining (i think) of cutting her fingers off because she's starting to empathize with the mermaid she have to cookes so hurting a fish becomes wrong, it's like hurting a human being. This has a lot of potential great job ❤💯
The way the "The Lovers" is used in this context makes me feel like there could be future installments like "The Fool" or "The Chariot" or anything based on the arcana, very cool.

Studio heartbreak is new and apparently made by a bunch of young adults that just simply wanted to learn animation and create art that they wouldn't normally be allowed to make here (the Philippines).
First off, 100% gonna watch this. I can’t believe this movie made almost 7 times its original goal on Kickstarter. But the fact that it’s going to be around 12 minutes does make me sad. I don’t imagine this film was intended to blow up in popularity like this. And I don’t want the fledgling studio to bite off more than they can chew by extending the film out of some sense of obligation. I hope the money they have left over will help them fully fund and set up future wonderful projects like this!
Seeing how this project developed from almost the start to finish on the instagram is phenomenal. The sound design,ost and animation looks so top notch!

As I understand it, they are going to release this film(?) around the second quarter of 2025, that is, around the spring. But even if this project comes out later, I’m ready to wait at least 10 years for it.
Was that a Bakunawa at 00:32 seconds? You see it very briefly but it reminds me of that (for those who are unaware it’s a Filipino mythological creature that depicts a serpent devouring the moon, said to be the cause of eclipses). If so, that’s awesome… I love that myth so much!❤

Or fish to a certain point and then bacon from there! And how would one go about to prepare a dish from such meat? I've been seeing small sketches and poster art from artists on tumblr making the rounds for months, but to actually see the trailer??? I GOT CHILLS. THIS LOOKS INCREDIBLE.
I saw this trailer around when it came out, I think about this all the time, I cannot wait to see this - just incredible.
This looks absolutely phenomenal! The visuals are gorgeous but eerie. Glad that the Philippines are taking a stab at indie animation. With the current animation landscape right now, indie animation needs to make an impact. I am really hyped for this film. Bless you all and your future endeavors! ❤
Many times I have created my own fantasy mermaid x human/different creature in the current era or in fantasy worlds, but the concept of a chef EATING mermaids??? Gutting, visceral. I love every single frame, the designs are amazing, the use of light and on top of everything, this movie is based where my boyfriend grew up. I can't wait to see it, In love with the concept frfr

i cant with some of these comments 😭😭 yall see a mermaid (plus im pretty sure shes a siren) and a human fall in love and call the whole production unoriginal just because this idea has been used before, not taking into consideration that there are a lot of different themes in this film that can be seen even in this short trailer
bffr, people love this project BECAUSE its original, and has traditional elements too. Sirens being manipulative, but instead of the siren being out in the sea, she's contained in a tank, and instead of her victim being in mortal danger, SHE'S in mortal danger. And her victim isnt a man or a sailor, its an every day mentally ill sushi chef woman.
Ionno how people can call this unoriginal. It isnt based off a book, or any other media, it doesnt use a pre-made script. Its original af

I got into the project when Tanjeronie got into it, so the very beginning, she did such an insane work there, holy??? is she even human??? everyone on the team must be just some mermaids spreading mermaid propaganda

It's amazing that it's raised so much already. I've never heard of a sapphic story that's this dark before. Very interesting. I'll be sure to lend my support. Also, animation sounds like the best medium for LGBTQ+ themed projects and stories. I'm on board!

Try The Handmaiden if you're looking for dark wlw. Lots of trigger warnings for that one, though.

Have you watched the Haunting of Bly manor? The focus isn't necessarily on queer people but it does have sapphic characters in a horror setting.
Also mayhaps have you read gothic, sci-fi book Gideon the ninth (locked tomb series)?
I personally think there's tons of wlw horror, gothic, and "dark" fantasy stories, most of them are just in comic or book form.
Absolutely ready to listen to Black Dresses while picturing the emotional arc this film. This is the kind of brutal/beautiful and honest depiction of trauma and codependent destructive relationships that we all deserve. And you can tell that the premise fully came from the heart. The animation industry has been over saturated by contrived concepts which have been alienated from the passion of the artists for far too long! This is precisely what we need. ❤

i love the designs, the chefs sleeves look like gills which really ties the whole thing together. The story seems really cool and I cannot wait until this fully made!

...the fact that you guys are called Studio Heartbreak, and that you offer an "alternate ending" on your Kickstarter campaign, gives me a bad feeling about the conclusion of this film. Is this... is this going to be a tragedy? 😣 I'm not sure my heart could take it.
It all looks so _good_ though. The animation, the tension, the voice acting - it all comes together into a trailer I couldn't look away from. I want to watch it so bad, even though I suspect the ending will make me cry. I want to glimpse the good times, even if I can anticipate the despair. On second thought, if that was the intention, your studio has an incredibly appropriate name.

I like the detail of the cook imagining (i think) of cutting her fingers off because she's starting to empathize with the mermaid she have to cookes so hurting a fish becomes wrong, it's like hurting a human being. This has a lot of potential great job ❤💯

Never heard of Studio Heartbreak before but this trailer did get me attention and sparks my interests, given the 2000’s anime esc art style, animation and an in depth LGBT cast. I am just as hopeful for The Lovers
Studio heartbreak is new and apparently made by a bunch of young adults that just simply wanted to learn animation and create art that they wouldn't normally be allowed to make here (the Philippines).

First off, 100% gonna watch this. I can’t believe this movie made almost 7 times its original goal on Kickstarter. But the fact that it’s going to be around 12 minutes does make me sad. I don’t imagine this film was intended to blow up in popularity like this. And I don’t want the fledgling studio to bite off more than they can chew by extending the film out of some sense of obligation. I hope the money they have left over will help them fully fund and set up future wonderful projects like this!

As I understand it, they are going to release this film(?) around the second quarter of 2025, that is, around the spring. But even if this project comes out later, I’m ready to wait at least 10 years for it.
