He was laughing afterwards, but if his vehicle had been a little bit more to the left, it would've been in that fast-running little outflow channel that might easily have left it stuck.
I guess I just don't get why anyone would be so stupid as to drive their car into mudflats in a marked flash flood danger zone. But it looks like its quite a few who don't get it.
What a vacuous galah! Giggling like a girl, doing nothing to retreat, lucky to be alive - he'll head off and buy another tough tattoo to celebrate his bravery.
Yep Salt wins here, cannot believe how silly some people are, driving on beach is bad enough, driving thru waves is just asking for rust, doesn't matter much you washed it down with fresh water.
In Germany and many parts of Europe its not allowed as well. To much people, small coastline, there would be nothing left for people to enjoy. There are of course Environmental reasons to protect Wildlife, too. And especially with dunes: coastline protection ( sorry, don't know the correct Word in english). There is a lot of Erosion going on, with storm surges and higher tides and especially on the islands, the dunes are a protective, natural barrier against the sea. Its Sometimes not even allowed to walk there. So, Not so much "silly treehugger" stuff, but solid reasons why there are so many restrictions.
It's not a "sneaker wave". It's a perigean spring tide. It occurs yearly when the moon is at apogee. The close proximity of the earth, moon and sun collectively result in greater gravitational force on the earth's surface, thus higher than normal tides. C'mon man!
That’s a set wave happening *during the spring tide. I’ve seen this sort of rebuttal a couple times recently, but it’s overthinking the issue. That thing rushing up past the truck is indeed a wave, and although there might be some variant scientific definition of “sneaker wave” somewhere (sometimes folks will wrongly call them “rogue waves”), what this video captures is def an example of what are commonly called sneaker waves.
It has nothing to do with tides. Those are infragravity waves that become more pronounced during large swells. While the waves that day probably had a period of about 12-15 seconds, they drive infragravity waves with a period of 90 seconds to 5 minutes. Those longer periods are what catch people off guard and lead to the term "sneaker waves." So you have no idea what you're talking about.
I dont get why anyone would take their vehicle on the beach especially in the water. Very strange idea.

Yes
Salt water in the wiring loom would have destroyed the car.

You can try to fool humans into thinking you are unafraid, but you will never fool a dog.
Consider yourself warned.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
