Mount Bierstadt | Colorado's Front Range

Mount Bierstadt (14,065 ft.) is one of the most popular 14ers in Colorado. Because it is generally considered an easy climb, along with its accessibility from nearby Denver, Mount Bierstadt is one of the most popular mountains to climb, not only in the Front Range, but in all of Colorado. Although the hike is pretty easy, altitude was a challenge for me on this adventure. The trailhead is at 11,470 ft., making it a difficult start if you are not acclimatized to the elevation (spoiler: I was not).

Hmm, being an Adirondack high peaker, my interpretation of beauty is quite different. There's nothing like emerging from the treeline and seeing miles of forest and lakes. I guess it's an eye of the beholder kind of thing. But, a day in the mountains is a day in the mountains - so this 14er has that going for it.

Indeed. I would rate climbing Mt. Marcy as more beautiful than this peak! To be fair, this is probably the least pretty time of year to climb; before the snow but after the green is gone.
