    Another great video.Glad you mentioned the designers name, I feel it's wrong of GW to no longer credit their design/sculpting staff

      Thank you Simon, I'm glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
      I like to mention who designed a model when known, and in this instance was able to do so.
      Single-designer models from Games Workshop and Forge World are something of a dying, if not already dead, breed. Digital design and reuse of assets mean it's becoming increasingly difficult to credit individual designers - although I see plenty of GW Group creatives claiming credit for their role in design on social media e.g. Instagram and Twitter so the opportunity is there for people to be recognised, but only on their terms and if they want it.
      Another problem GW has here is it's a massive operation... is it fair to credit person X in digital sculpting without also acknowledging the team of people who make the moulds, maintain the IT infrastructure, serve in the canteen and clean the toilets?
      I'd say not, and when you take a step back and think this through they've probably got the best balanced policy all things considered - it's sad that there has been so much ill-thought through criticism of GW on this, and some of it is just exploitative click-bait.
      But I'll continue to acknowledge the designers as opportunity presents 🙂

    I am torn between this and the Vultarax being my favourite model. I am working on an Imperial knight army and was going to go with Custodes as a way to have a 30k and 40k army, but the more I rewatch these videos the more I just want to see these models on my shelf.

    Cool model, Ordinatus stuff was always pretty cool. I believe the big canon Grimaldus' Techmarine buddy used to destroy the Gargant in Helsreach, after it just killed the Titan, was Ordinatus. Correct me if im wrong.
    Anyway I subbed since you make similar stuff to Saiyan.

    That's really cool!! Lovely work as always! I have a couple questions - maybe you already went over this in previous video I missed - but anyway, so the lanuch piston and the axle holding the head drills in place and allowing rotation, why not replace them with metal equivalents? Even with your, admittedly awwesome, pinning on the piston for instance, it seems like replacing with a metal version would be better. Or maybe not lol that was just my first thought seeing it, it seems very fragile to be holding so much weight tbh at least if you want it to move at all.

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mousey, glad you enjoyed the video!
      On the head drill, the axel is very think - about 0.5" - so that would be a hefty bit of metal (would need to be aluminium for weight reasons).
      Someone could replace the lamp rail piston with a metal part, that challenge would be fashioning a metal replacement - I don't have a lathe or C&C machine so pinning is way, way easier for me, but it could be done.
      I'm pretty confident my strengthening will do the job - 2mm piano wire is very strong.
      But yeah, there are definitely other ways to go about strengthening the mechanism 💪

    Do you thinking youll be able to pick up the ordinatus variant that has the vilcano cannon on it? Obviously its oop but I've seen several on eBay

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just taken ownership of the Ulator - for me that's the offensive Ordinatus to own, as well as an iconic design it has a prominent place in several Horus Heresy tales.
      The Sagittar isn't my cup of tea - looks too much like a Warlord Belicosa dropped onto the chassis of the Ulator and lacks that feel of a coherent, dedicated design such a huge resource investment vehicle would show.

    • @andromedafan
      @andromedafan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leakycheese hehe Jokes aside would No More Nails be a better bonding agent for large Forgeworld models that say superglue and 2 part epoxy?

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andromedafan Oh no, absolutely not. NMN is designed as a DIY adhesive with gap filling and flexible properties.
      Sticking resin together... superglue is absolutely ideal given resin's microporous, rough surface. If something with a *little* bit of flex and toughness, then epoxy is the way to go.

    Being over half a century old, this takes me back to The Black Sapper from Hotspur comic, particularly the 1975 Annual. Google the gorgeous cover art (Hotspur 'Book For Boys' 1975 - that dates it!) - takes me back to being 7. Great vid sir.

    Warhammer 40k is a strange thing. I have no interest in playing the game or building the models. But I really enjoy hearing about the universe. I suppose it is a credit to the world builders. Anyways, thanks for the video and praise the algorithm.

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you’ve touched on something true about the 40K universe there - it is a fascinating fictional creation and many people enjoy it ways other than the models or games. I really like this and agree the writers have been very creative and skillful at this over the years.
      And thanks as always for the comment, all hail the algorithm.
      P.s. keep an eye out for my new video on Friday ;)

Thank you so much for explaining in detail how you ascended this expensive kit from a (nicely detailed) resin brick to a fully articulated model, with all the pitfalls and building challenges it implies to magnetize it.
