the frame is from an old generator. the engine is from an old power washer. the belts and pulleys from ebay. the screw was made by an old man in a garage. it works.
Nice work, HOWEVER, tHE apparatus needs a QUICK SHUT OFF in easy reach. The way the screw pulls material into it would mangle any operator who gets tangled in it!!
Awesome idea! That's the design I've been looking for. Do you think I could use a 5 hp Honda engine from a pressure washer? If so, what gear ratio would be best?
Was wondering if someone could help with some advice? With some help (a-lot of help), we made a conical wood splitter. The problem I'm having is that the cone is pulling the wood forward on a funny angle and then try's to spin in on the cone. Our first attempt (th-cam.com/video/3xy4cQdNKe0/w-d-xo.html) was a disaster. This video shows the new version th-cam.com/video/srUE_510VW4/w-d-xo.html Any ideas on how to stop the wood from spinning/jamming?
Oh, snap! I almost have all the parts laying around to build this. Just need pulleys and belts. 😁
Great video! 👍👍 Lots of inspiration for me.
Except for the cone, as well. I need that too.

I have a similar setup and I'm going double belt like you have here, single belt keeps slipping on larger stuff.
That's the way to do it 👍

I tried a 5hp and it did not work. I had a 11hp and now 13hp. 13hp is the way to go
nice setup but i think if you were using a 6:1 gear reduction motor you would be able to split a piece like that right down the middle.
looks like an extra pulley wouldnt hurt. maybe a centrifugal clutch to aid in starting. but thats probably over complicating it.
I picked up the belts and pulleys from ebay. Cheap. Do it!!! If you have any questions let me know
