I dont wear any of my Rolex watches any more since my Planet Ocean Chronograph Master Chronometer found my wrist.. Its on another level of hard core diver. My Rolex watches seem absolutely boring now. Accuracy of the Omega with and without the chronograph running is unbelievable at less than a half a second a week.

You have hit the nail on the head with this video. I am a watch collector with around thirty watches but after obtaining an Omega planet ocean chronograph calibre 9900 i cant wear any of my other watches. They are all now redundant as the Omega is the only one i feel happy wearing. Althpugh i do have a couple of 43mm watches too. The planet ocean is definitly the 'lambourgini' of all watches. The 9900 calibre has the slide adjust updated clasp and female end links which makes it wear better although i do have quite chunky wrists. Before the Omega anything under 40mm was a definite no, no. I do like tje look of the daytona but at 40mm was way too small. Now ive got the Omega even the 43mm watches now are too small. So it isnt just me with that problem. No way will i ever sell the planet ocean now.. !!!

I have a Caliber 9900; a watchmaker friend told me that in his opinion, this is the best mechanical watch one can buy today. The local watch dealer (sells Omega and Rolex) said the same. He'd gladly sell me a Submariner, but in his opinion, the PO is a better made and designed watch.
The size and weight are something you can get used to. FWIW, I love the Submariner as well.

Bought the 600m PO last week (non chrono) I have to agree with you 100% after typing this message I’ll be heading to the Post Office with my Tudor Black Bay and a Breitling to send to their new owners. After only a week of having the PO I know there’s no point keeping those 2 watches!
I have 2 more Tudors and I think they will be going as well in a trade for the Speedmaster Racing Chronograph 44.5mm.
That’ll be a One Two combination that will KO many a 2 piece collection 👊🏾

This is a really nice video. Definitely helped me decide to not get this particular PO - and trust me, I friggin LOVE it - but only because of the size. You have also helped me decide Omega PO will be my first luxury timepiece. It was great to hear you pay the compliments that you did to Omega, while still recognizing all that Rolex offers.

I have had many Rolex Subs, (Used to be a dealer), at the time, 20 years ago, the Sub was considered a HUGE watch, I remember my first Sub, it actually caused a callous to form on my wrist where the winding stem contacted the skin. I purchased my PO Chronograph. over a year ago and have worn it every day since. It is a large watch, but it does not feel so large and heavy while wearing it. it has performed magnificently and is the most accurate non quartz watch I have ever worn. I purchased mine used for under 5K us (a sub was almost 8K us at the time. So, there is an advantage if purchasing used over the Rolex. Rolex watches do not always appreciate, only certain Rolex's appreciate as per this example. The Sub, The GMT, the Daytona, all in stainless, but have a two tone Datejust, and the advantage is no longer there.
I will be wearing this watch for the rest of my life as a day to day watch, and I will always be grateful that this fine time piece was available in my price range.

I picked up a Rolex DEEPSEA recently and I can see the same thing happening to me. It makes everything else - including my 42mm Explorer II - feel like a lady's watch. Now I'm thinking about picking up a Planet Ocean Chronograph to go with the DEEPSEA. Great video!

I’m fortunate to own this PO and the blue version. The blue version is on a SS bracelet and the black one is on a black strap. IMHO it wears smaller than you’d think. My Navitimer on a SS bracelet wears bigger. I have a Breitling Avenger 2 Seawolf in yellow on a SS bracelet and that looks beautiful too. The Omega PO Chronographs certainly are beautiful and an absolute pleasure to wear. Omega is a Rolex killer.

I don't really understand the size issue but I do agree the Planet Ocean is a beautiful watch. I have watches ranging from 40mm to 50mm from a Rolex GMT to a U-Boat Flight Deck including a Planet Ocean. I also drive a large car and small car!! Watches are styled on size. I like wearing all my different sized watches equally.

  • @fravellist

I agree about the 'ruins other watches for men', comment. I've had the full titanium version for 4+ years as a daily wearer and when I look at other watches most appear too small. Luckily, I'm a big chap and can carry-off the 45.5mm without it looking ridiculous. The only other watch I've considered in recent times is the Titanium PloProf @ 55 x 48mm.

The 40mm Sub is a small for a dive watch so the issue is with the Rolex. Rolex is slowing growing their size so that solidifies larger watches are not going anywhere. Get a SD43 or Deepsea and all is well in your collection. Let’s face it, the Omega is a better movement and a more advanced watch. Omega is the thinking mans watch and also the enthusiast watch. Investment?? Watches are NOT investments but a lifestyle. Let the commodity brokers buy the Rolex and the watch enthusiast buy the Omega.

  • @williamstalvey6920

I agree with everything you said, I loved my ceramic SS daytona, but it looked like some sort if womans watch on my wrist.
The big watches make you just feel more confident and presence is everything
The Omega is the Ultimate 600 meter, and between this and the deepsea, all other watches fail to Compete.
Great video and very well said.

Great video and I would have to agree the Planet Ocean is a fantastic watch. Always looks dull in photos but when you see it in the metal the shiny parts on the dial are stunning.

Thats so true, once you step up in size, it totally ruins other watches. 20 years ago when I thought Tags were nice watches, I bought a Citizen Eco Drive (as it was new tech at the time) as a daily wearer. The Citizen was so much heavier, whenever I put on the Tag, I was like eh! I indeed quit wearing the Tag, and still wear the Citizen to this day!

  • @Harry-tb8yo
    @Harry-tb8yo ปีที่แล้ว

Interesting point of view. I own a Planet Ocean Chronograph with the 3313 movement. With its size, weight and the popping orange bezel I needed to have it. It is of course the largest and heaviest watch in my small collection. But it doesn't ruin my collection. For many years my collection was rather small, being the POC, an SMP from 2008 and a JLC Reverso Squadra Hometime which is not much smaller than the POC. But I switch between my watches very often, rarely wearing one watch on two or more consecutive days. This year I started buying watches again, two Seikos, a Moonswatch and a Cartier Tank Americaine in medium size. And the latter one is definitely small in comparison. But that's perfectly fine for me. I like switching between different styles and levels of chunkiness.

You can get over the size differences. I had the same problem with a 44.5mm Seamaster 300 chrono, distorting my perception of other watches.
Now I wear a 36mm Rolex OP back to back with my big fat chrono.
    I now enjoy the variety.

Once you own/wear the planet ocean, you can't go back to anything similar. I own one and it is true thT it takes a few days to get used to the weight/size but once you "don't feel it" on your wrist, that's it. No way back. Specs wise, quality built and looks not comparable to rolex (the only thing with rolex is they produce less pieces and demand is higher, thats all), driving aftermarket price even higher although mechanically speaking has nothing to do . And I could have bought myself a rolex, but i wont give in "what's cooler" based on todays trends ....
    Great video 👍

Indeed, there's a trend for people to wear large watches. Men go for 45-47s, women are rocking Panerais as well. I wouldn't say that wearing a heavy timepiece for a while will ruin other experiences. Just they are for difference purposes and scenarios. I feel more than comfortable to change from a deepsea to a daytona on rubber strap, essence is to enjoy the one on your wrist:)

  • @yifengyang3846

If this watch can ruin your watch collection I don’t think you have many watches or much experiences with timepieces. Go online and look for Panerais, Roger Dubuis or even Oris ProDiver. Go try something more before uttering “ruining experiences” :)

I wear with pleasure a big 42 mm diver at the beach, but wear with as much pleasure a 35 mm 1940s chronograph with patina at the office, or a vintage Speedy at home. I'm an Omega serial wearer, but will never buy a PO : way too heavy - except the 42 mm standard PO titanium. The SMP 300 sword hands are my fav series in the Omega diver line-up - electric blue, Peter Blake and electric blue titanium, they rock !

I don’t find that it ruins other watches. I have the same 45.5 9900 caliber which I love, but it doesn’t keep me from enjoying my smaller 40, 41 & 42 mm watches. But then again, I’ve had an all steel, somewhat ridiculously flashy, Breitling Avenger for years so I’m used to switching between a bigger and smaller watches. Also I think the problem here is that you’re comparing it to the ultra boring Submariner... Get your self a Breguet Type XXI or a Royal Oak and you’ll see that a smaller watch can also have a strong wrist presence and enjoyed just as much as this brilliant Planet Ocean.

About to pull the trigger on a used planet ocean chronograph in titanium, that should take most of the weight out of the equation and make the watch less top heavy.

      @TheMystro1971 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

You will love the POC. I own the new SS POC Master Chronometer and it wears more comfortable than my SD43. Omega uses a larger and flatter case back sapphire crystal that distributes its 225 gram better than the SD43 and DSSD. It’s shockingly comfortable to wear every day. A huge factor with the new Omega Master Chronometer Planet Ocean is it now has dropped endllnks that allow the watch to not flair out at the bracelet like the Rolex making its bracelet follow smaller wrist significantly more comfortable and eliminating any top heavy feel. Omega is light years ahead in design.

      TheMystro1971,
      Great information, thank you.
I have since decided to go with a JLC Polaris Chrono blue face on bracelet.
The PO 8500, 42mm has been my most worn watch for years, I will always be a huge Planet Ocean fan.
My current big chrono is the IWC Portuguese Yacht Club flyback Chrono 45.5mm. Nice looking, easy to read and sits comfortably on the wrist without drifting.
However, if I could only have one watch it would be a Planet Ocean, preferably the POC.
      Thanks again for your insight.

I wish I can get it in 1 year since I'm on the waiting list, they told me for the green one I have to wait 3 years.

I do have a 44mm Breitling, and I have no issue wearing other 40mm or 39mm watches. So to answer your question, I don’t t find that having a big watch like this Planet Ocean chrono would ruin the experience of owning/enjoying other watches. I think the real issue is that your comparing it to one of the most boring midrange luxury watches. I brand that seems to be dedicated to this whole “understated” aesthetic which I don’t get at all.

It feels to me that maybe you are self-imposing a ceiling on your expectations of what a great sport diving watch can be.

If this watch ruins your collection, you are too young in the watch game.
