Great advice! I started inline skating in my thirties, I’m now 60 and enjoy urban skating more than ever. Weight training along with a reasonably healthy diet is a tremendous asset. I also go out in full gear every time I skate. Knowing one’s limitations is also important; l love watching videos of skaters doing all sorts of cool tricks and moves. Some I can learn from and some I just have to say nope, I ain’t trying that!
46 and just have 6 months under my belt! I feel so much better and moving joints like never before. It's healthy. Nothing crazy just cardio and improving my core.
Maddy this was such a GREAT video!! Also so so grateful you mentioned fueling/refueling and ways to take care of our bodies. Especially when things like diet culture and not prioritizing rest can be so prevalent. You’re awesome!
I'm so glad you resonate with the video! You're so right that a lot of "hustle culture" promotes not prioritizing rest, and it's so important for our bodies/minds to have recovery time 😊 Thanks for watching!
35-year-old skateboarder here. Never had a sponsor just love skateboarding. Never too old to start skating. Its all about having fun and enjoying yourself
I'm 56 male learnt to skateboard when I was 5 in 72 built my own skateboard, haven't done any skateboarding for over 40 years but I'm taking it up once more. Take your board on vacation it's green transport. My boards I'm getting Santa Cruz Surfskate Complete Screaming Hand Check Surfskate 30.2 & Powell Powell-Peralta™ Andy Anderson Heron Skull Rust 8.45" & Powell-Peralta McGill BB S15 Limited Edition 10" Skateboard Deck (white) these are 3 skateboards I'm getting.
I love your mentality on aging. Out with the old, in with the new generations on lifestyle. Blows my mind people after 30 are out of shape, in literally in my prime at 29. Just work and spend money for the rest of my life? What even is that.
I'm so ready for more people to be out here promoting how rad aging is and can be 🙌 It's time we embrace it and enjoy it, and I'm glad you feel that too! Thanks for watching!
So cool! It’s amazing that you’re expanding your skate world by getting on ice! Have so much fun, and way to go not letting the sill view our society has of aging hold you back from your goals 🙌
I’m 40 I got back to skating after around 27-30years… On my second day I was stopped by two 10 years old kids and asked how to keep balance or how to do the spins ! I was also asked by another 40 years old women if I teach skating… On day three I started exercising slides… Muscle memory is amazing… All these skills just came back to me so naturally without even thinking… So fuck the age!
Hell yes! Muscle memory and the human body are amazing things! I'm so happy for you that you've enjoyed getting back on wheels! Keep that fuck age mindset, homie 🤘
"Comparison is the thief of joy" - a quote by idk who. Even pros still stumble and fall. What people mostly show on the internet are their successes, because they do better as videos and shorts. I started inline skating May last year at 33 years, and the only thing I hate is the damn weather interrupting my motivation.
@@thesolarroller Last time I was outside I had my best ride yet and was cruising around for almost 3 hours xD I've also been using a great community app called Let's Roll to share my sessions. Have yet to find people in my area though, which is a bit of a bummer for me. Wish I wasn't the only skater in my life
Thank you so much for this video. I really enjoyed it. I will turn 46 this year and just bought parts for a skateboard. I know that I will never become a Chad Muska, Ricky Glaser, Jamie Thomas or Ryan Sheckler. But I want to cruise around a little, get familiar with the feeling of the board and maybe I can learn an easy trick or two. Screw all the naysayers. I bet I'll look alright on my deck :D
It shocked me too when I started getting those comments, and it showed me how many people limit themselves because of their age. I'm so glad you're getting on wheels, and I hope you have a blast!
Very good video! I’m surprised you are getting the ”too old” when you are in your 20’s, what’s wrong with people?! I’m learning how to skate at 54, i’m having a lot of fun.
I was surprised to be getting those comments at this age too! That was a big reason of why I made the video, as the comments made me realize how common the "age limiting" mindset is. I'm so glad you didn't buy into it and decided to learn to skate! It can be so much fun for any age! Enjoy your journey, and thanks for watching!
I'm a 27 year old guy and I just ordered my first pair of skates, If i die before learning to skate it is because i was trying to and not because I choose to never even try.
Other women in my neighborhood give me looks for skating around. And other men have given my husband looks for skateboarding and free skating. I hope I’ll never be that miserable. I’m starting roller derby at 29 soooooo idk maybe I’m as crazy as they think I am
The looks just tell me they have no idea what fun and freedom lie in skating at all ages 🙌 Way to go starting roller derby, and I hope you have a blast! Never too late 🤗
Girl I'm 45 lol and I'm barely learning but the hell with what anyone says I'm having my fun jus falling on my own thank you😂😂
I'm so glad you're having fun learning to skate, and I hope it keeps bringing you joy 🙌 Keep enjoying the process!
Samesies!!! I started skating this year at 43, and I'm in ❤. I just wear all the pads. 😂
24? I started learning to rollerblade at 51 and now at 54 I’m better than I can ever possibly imagined.
Heck yeah! Glad you’re having fun and kicking ass 🤘
