back in 2018, when I was more undercover about being a furry, this random kid wore his fursuit to school a few days before Halloween. I asked him if I could try it and he said yes, so he brought it back the next day and I changed into it in the bathroom. let's just say I missed 3 classes, I was caught, and my parents weren't too happy about it. but looking back, it was absolutely amazing, and I don't regret it because now I can be more open with my family and that was the first step to being more open about being a furry in general
I actually became a furry around the same time but, you are a far bolder person than I. It took until college until I told anyone about that and almost 10 years from joining for me to even interact with the community. I really only regret the second part.
Now a days it's not something I really announce or deny. Kinda just on a need to know basis and more something I talk about only with people who I think will be cool about it.

I was just about to fall asleep then heard “The time I brought drugs to school”, I ended up watching the rest of the video.
Majira, I actually did that waaaaaay long before you- honest. I'm 42 (gonna be 43 next month), and I did wore the fox tail in 11th grade, (didn't hide it either, just twice though) and always brought my stuffy every day in 12th grade (that one was every day. )

How would I know if I have furry friends at school? I have some non furry friends who don't care if I am a furry, and I am med-key about being a furry.
A lot of kids are going to stay low-key due to fear of reprisal from other kids and/or parents. The best thing you can do is just keep being yourself and do your best to not let bullies get to you. If you're meant to meet other kids they'll come up to you. That said you could always host an after-school tabletop rpg group and mention somewhere in the description that all kinds of characters are welcome-furry, brony, etc. Sometimes all people need is a group they feel safe in.

@@RB01.10 School cameras aren't monitored during school hours unless there is a legitimate reason it's a strict rule for the companies that monitor them. They are also not allowed at all in any changing areas or bathrooms.

I became a furry when I was about 15 years old. I am now 34, meaning I have been a furry for more than half my life.
Became one when I was 16. It's gonna be a few years until I'm 32 though.

lmao I wore a tail, ears, and a makeshift bodysuit i made out of shag fur from these rugs i found at Walmart under my cloths the whole day once in highschool LOL! I was able to deflect the teacher's questions but the students? Nah I was far from subtle, HAHA! I was always the weird wolf dude. There were other furries but 90% of them were just otakus with cat ears & Tail personas and assumed that was furry lol.
I'll tell ya what did get me in trouble tho. I had this laptop bag that i forgot i had firecrackers stored in one of the pockets (for like MONTHS). Finally see them, a student who thought me being furry was insanity told the school i was gonna blow it up XD they knew me better so they just gave me ISS for 3 weeks.
