whenever a poly crosses the diff layer a transistor is formed & polysilicon is gate(poly). diff layer--> active region where device is formed. pplus/nplus are the implant layers just to define that which device will form in the diff layer (p+ for pmos and n+ for nmos). nwell --> a well created in p substrate to make pmos devices. cont/via used for connecting poly-diff, diff-metal and M1 to M2 ....respectively.
