If you listen casually, it'll sound like just a groove. But if you reeeeeally listen to the groove and break it down with misic theory, you'll better understand its complexity. Polyrhythmic patters, modular transitions and builds, theme shifts, even modifying beatbox basics that normally aren't good for this routine and delivering them in an unexpected way. It's more of a showcase to the judges. This set wasn't a song, it was a statement. Addressing your confusion where the crowd reacted to the zipper noise. Doing "a zipper" is pretty standard in mainstream beatbox today, but Dilip doesn't just take it up a notch, he doesn't just master it, he is God of the zipper. Something he just does for a filler as an afterthought, people who mainstream this sound can't do after years of practicing to mimic Dilip... Let alone when he actually tries to take it up a notch. tbh ur right, dilip structure was not as good and he was repeating, in beatbox variety is important, tho dilip is insane with unhuman sounds so he still made it through the eliminations.
