I sailed on her so many times I can even remember. Me and my mom would go on the Ensenada cruise basically every year when I was younger. I used to call her Boaty, and me and my mom would always put on the “Boaty channel” (aka the deck cameras) before going to sleep. And it was always so much fun watching the people run to the ship in Ensenada. I remember walking on the decks at night when there was no one around and it was just quiet and peaceful with my mom. We didn’t have hardly any money, and life was pretty hard during that time, but my mom still somehow managed to pull it off to give us some escape from all the crap. I would throw an absolutely hysterical fit every time we had to leave. And I sobbed when I found out she was scrapped. Par for the course for 2020 I guess. She will always have a special place in my heart.

I was a head server on board during the 1998 Saint Martin accident. Had just finished working at the midnight buffet as it happened at 12:30 am. Scary!!!

It was a beautiful unforgettable experience cruising from cali to Catalina Island, to Ensenada Mexico in 2003! Sad to hear she is reduced to scraps! Glad I got to be a part of its history!

Monarch was the first cruise ship i ever went on with my family. I was probably 10 around then. Some of the best family memories i have were made on that ship.

We’ve sailed in Monarch 3 times and has always been my favorite.
I have a poster of Monarch on the wall of my den still to this day.
I loved that the godmother of the Monarch was Lauren Bacall❤️

I had the pleasure of sailing on all 3 of these ships many times the first being on the sovereign in 1990 and then many trips on sovereign majesty and monarch all the way to the end. Before they got sold.I agree, these ships are truly beautiful. The cruiser Stern the clipper bow, the Viking Crown lounge. They actually look like graceful beautiful Ships, unlike today's basic hotel boxes on a kill, I will miss all of them.I truly think they were the best ships ever

I sailed on her 3 times when she was home ported in Los Angeles. She was the ship that we did a family cruise on, the last ship my dad was on. I was on her when she had the first lady Captain. It is a shame that she and her sister got scrapped. They were nice ships despite having the smallest cabins I have ever had, nice lay out of the ship and nice and smooth. She did not have the vibrations of the older ships.

A bunch of friends and I cruised on Monarch of the Seas in spring 2004 on a short 3-day trip from Long Beach CA to Ensenada, Mexico. It was really nice. The food was outstanding. When we got off the ship in Ensenada we decided not to eat in town since the food on the ship was far superior. We got the cheap cabins and they were small but who spends time in your cabin? I had fun messing with one of the piano players who was playing jazz standards during they day. I looked over her shoulder, and since I'm a musician, could tell she wasn't playing the music exactly. She was totally improvising which I thought was cool. I mentioned it to her and we both laughed about it. I'm sad to see the ship is now gone. I think they retire these ships far too quickly.

I was 5 years old when I first went on monarch in 1992 in her inaugural summer season. She was massive when we approached the docks in San Juan, dwarfing everything around her! She got me hooked on cruising for life we sailed on her countless times until 1998 when we decided we needed to try the other ships in the fleet, saw her again in dover, UK in 2016 and even in her pullmantur livery looked beautiful. She had another 10 years minimum in her left but instead she sailed quietly into the sunset with her sister ship with no farewell just two beautiful giants quietly accepting their fate. Very sad.

This was a beautiful ship which we had sailed on in April of 1993 on our honeymoon. I loved the glass elevators and the elegant lobby.

My wife and I sailed our first cruise on the Monarch in November 1991. It was the Monarch's second ever cruise! We sailed out of West Palm Beach, FL, and sailed to Cozumel, Cancun, and Key West. We still have the wine glasses that were given out on the maiden voyage that, even though we were sailing Monarch's second ever cruise, one of the crew members gave us the wine glasses. Will always cherish the memories of sailing on the Monarch!

Monarch remains my favorite ship. I cruised on her 17 times out of San Pedro. I have some great memories of those days. I’m so sad that she’s been scrapped.

This ship was my very 1st cruise out of Los Angeles around 2004ish. This ship got me hooked on cruising. I cruised her about 4 more times and then she went somewhere else. Royal left Los Angeles for a handful of years but now they are back in small quantities. I started sailing carnival out of Los Angeles many many times and now 2 of those ships are scrapped as well. Sad that 3 ships I grew to love are gone now. On to bigger and better ships I guess. Part of life.

Sailed on Monarch 4 times. What a beauty!. Always a relaxing, calming cruise. Took entire family, just wife and I and then the other side of the family then wife and I again, So sad to see it scrapped. It was like an old friend. RIP Monarch. You served well.

Met my wife on Monarch of the Seas in 99', because of the reef incident in 98' that delayed our original cruise. Had that never happened, I would not of met her. Honeymoon was also on Monarch of the Seas in 01'. We met in the 'Ain't Misbehavin' nightclub.

I was one of the original cast members who sang and danced on the main stage. We were flown to France from Miami and made the maiden voyage crossing the Atlantic ocean in 1991. She was a beautiful ship.

I was on the Monarch when she hit the reef in St Martin. We were taken off the ship and ferried to St Martin around 1am. They brought buses and distributed us passengers all over the island. We we lucky to be put in a beautiful resort on the French side of the island. I met a handsome man at the pool but I was too shy to talk to him. I’ve often wondered where that would have led.

Sailed on the monarch of the seas for my honeymoon in May 1994. Went on the Sovereign and majesty. All beautiful ships. In Fodors or Frommers, it described the ships as floating Hyatts. It set the standard for the huge ships to come along. They were smaller ships but beautiful

Monarch was my first cruise ship when I was 9 y/0 in 2000. I've been on 5 more since then, all much bigger, newer ships and all RC. I still prefer Monarch, have been chasing the high that ship gave me ever since.
