And tries to pursue her girl to stop doing this, by telling her about his Mom's views on her. The girl realizes that she must stand up to his expectations. She'll probably stop this or come clean. Its a brilliant short film.. I already mentioned it on facebook.. nice, natural and believeable acting.. its a proof that big drama is not always needed to create intense emotions.. its a quiet and yet a very emotional story.. keep on the good work! would love to see more of it and especially a sequel of this story with this couple

I think a lot of people don't understand how difficult it is to fit a solid narrative into 10 or 15 minutes of run time. Hence,short films are still striving to find their place in a country where mindless movies make crores and their non actor stars are worshipped. Try to understand that short films and full length features don't run on the same grammar. Keeping that in mind,I found Best Girlfriend to be crisp and very well made. The actors have kept the acting very natural,though the friend could have been better cast. The people who are putting up comments which crucify the film are most probably doing so because they didn't get their desire for a melodramatic climax fulfilled;after all, Indian audiences are used to it. Grow up guys,gone are the days when the filmmaker had to spell things out for his/her audience. Audiences around the world are more taken by subtleties now. If Indians want better movies,we have to roll with the times and change our mindsets as the audience too. Hats off to you Navjot,and to your team for keeping it simple,yet brilliant! So.! What I got from this short movie is that.. Vikrant told Kritika about his situation (which his friend created) and so Kritika took U turn to that another building man who was the broker of call girls and send her pic to Vikrant's friend in a cover of call girl (which she is not). Basically she saved his boyfriend from his friend and so she is a good girl friend.
The guy realizes that he was commiting the same sin what she did! In short "Relationships survive by understanding each other and handling the situations with love and affection instead of frustration and anger". Her reaction at the end by listening to altruistic line from the guy depicts that she realized what mistake she is commiting while she has such a lovely life partner. So both of them realizes their own mistakes with such an ease. Everyone in this world commits mistakes, Forgiver is better than Mistaker.I would say the short film is about handling the situation and making the bond of our relationship stronger.
*explanation (maybe) other than a plethora of things, i realized the film was about free will. sounds crazy but yes, remember when the girl says that it is upto a woman what she does with her body etc, well that kinda disclosed the movie. the point is that whatever she does she hides her reality because she has feelings for the guy (i mean she cooks "chicken-korma" for him!) it truly a roller-coaster of feelings that one encounters in an urban-modern-evolved for of relationship. also it has a free end which means lot of possible endings and situations. ps: don't judge people just because you sin differently than them. :)

The pace picks up beautifully and the twists are very surprising. Excellent story, very natural acting, and most importantly the director has done a great job putting it all together.
It's definitely a very interesting take but I find it odd that on one side you want to show progress in terms of the mother accepting a live-in relationship but at the same time for a girl to be deemed a good prospect she must wake up and cook for the man..some things never change even when we are trying to break stereotypes..
I think every character deserves their own unique reality. It is difficult to write, nor should it be encouraged to have, characters fit the 'right' version of everything.

Withing the first few minutes he is seen disapproving of lesbians which suggests that he isn't that open minded. I think I got it... In the starting boy asks the girl "u never let me touch your fone, are u hiding something" then the boy asks to accompany the girl to bangaluru, then ask him to go to office the next day in sarcasm... The girl has prepared good food and took good care of the boy that even his mom has become her fan... Mom compliments the girl as the best girlfriend of her son till date.... Then the boy with his friend orders for 2 escorts... In the meantime the girlfriend tells the cab driver to take the U turn because I guess she is also an escort but her customer cancelled the deal or something like that... The pace picks up beautifully and the twists are very surprising. Excellent story, very natural acting, and most importantly the director has done a great job putting it all together.
It's definitely a very interesting take but I find it odd that on one side you want to show progress in terms of the mother accepting a live-in relationship but at the same time for a girl to be deemed a good prospect she must wake up and cook for the man..some things never change even when we are trying to break stereotypes..
I think every character deserves their own unique reality. It is difficult to write, nor should it be encouraged to have, characters fit the 'right' version of everything.
Maybe this particular girl enjoys cooking. What's our problem with that..

Of course it's a stereotype! The guy wakes up and says something like "bai nahi ayegei aaj breakfast nahi banana?" then suddenly the would be mother in law proclaims her as an ideal life partner..What do you expect the audiences to perceive? The fact that this didn't even occur to you is even more sad... It would have been extremely refreshing if the guy would have gotten up and cooked instead and that would not have had any effect on your storyline unless you really did want to show that the girlfriend was a 'good girlfriend' simply because she cooked for the guy. Please think about it..

***** Hey I'm not criticizing your work , just observing: while you were quick to point out that Vikrant's mother might've validated Kritika based on her cooking skills but you have overlooked the fact that in the end she said that Kritika was the best girl that Vikrant met despite the fact that she was a prostitute (hidden for obvious reasons) AND generally women engaging in live-in relationships aren't looked at in good light by parents searching for stable life partners. Even he knows about her being an escort, he pretends not to know and stays with her. Everywhere we see toxic relationships, yet many people refuse to leave

1: He has had some time to think and realizes that despite her being a call girl, he will talk her out of it and stay with her because she is the best girlfriend he has ever had in terms of how she takes care of him and loves him. He probably realizes that he is not perfect either having decided to have sex with a call girl in her absence.
2: That he is being really sarcastic when he says the she is the best girlfriend he has ever had. Withing the first few minutes he is seen disapproving of lesbians which suggests that he isn't that open minded. A guy who thinks being a lesbian is a choice and a bad one at that is probably not going to accept a call girl as his girlfriend.

I think I got it... In the starting boy asks the girl "u never let me touch your fone, are u hiding something" then the boy asks to accompany the girl to bangaluru, then ask him to go to office the next day in sarcasm... The girl has prepared good food and took good care of the boy that even his mom has become her fan... Mom compliments the girl as the best girlfriend of her son till date.... Then the boy with his friend orders for 2 escorts...
