The letters we send out literally say if you want supplemental life insurance to fill out this form and send it back no bait and switch. Yea some recruiters might over exaggerate but not all of them do that. The guy who recruited me makes over 500k I know this because I saw his tax returns. He said first year I’m looking at making $50k. There hasn’t been a single word about recruiting other agents or trying to recruit the leads since I started training. There are a few bad apples in every insurance organization, but if you have morals and a good work ethic you can be successful anywhere. This is the only insurance company that’s ever offered me free leads and 1 on 1 training like this.

I’m currently in the hiring process of AIL. And my recruiter was completely honest about how difficult things would be in the beginning, and I did actually get a script to memorize and follow. He explain how much I could possibly make in my first year, and it was not as high as 100k. But he did say there is an average of possibly 50k. He was very transparent about the process and how they do things, and ask if I was interested.

My recruiter was honest and upfront as well. He is a retired police officer. He did say there will be a grind at first and I will be a "glorified phone setter" till things take off for me. I want to back out, but I remember all the hours I sacrificed to get my license. Its like my Dad said "Son, the only thing that beats a failure is not trying". Heyo, I'm glad to find someone else in a positive mindset about this cause I've fallen down a rabbit hole of negativity surrounding AO/AIL. Ive still been training so far but the team I'm with seems really understanding and from what I understand it's kinda up to the personal team you end up with that determines how it will go. Im not really here trying to make 100,000k or any crazy numbers, just more than minimum wage was making me. The folks I've talked to in the company and in my team so far have all been positive and had similar experiences with making their first sale in a week or two after getting their license. This is exactly the same experience I had with AIL. I was sold on the fact that you were given leads that were free based on the marketing efforts they did to receive them. Once you get into the training you see realize it was nothing more than the bait and switch. I knew it was going to be a hard pass for me at that point.
The salesman was really good at selling me on the commissions earned by others just as the guy mentioned and it was complete BS. I’m sure there are some that are doing well but not many using that tactic.
One guy that seemingly was doing well had telemarketers to call on his behalf and set up the appointments for him. I’m not sure if they were upfront about what the call really entailed but we were told he had great sales in the meetings. However, knowing how they operate now I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a complete lie.
The beginning to a complete waste of time.
I could go on with my current situation as well that I am finding out is another ploy on a different level that is equally disappointing.
Bottom line is you better be ready to do the work and beat the pavement like the good old days!

I’ve been with AIL for about 2 months. Within my first month, I made my required milestones and got promoted. I don’t pressure or use any kind of bullying tactics. Exactly like the previous comment stated, one of our no cost benefits we offer is our needs analysis survey. Based upon you basic medical and household questions, we build a plan to supplement any gaps in your current life coverage. I show them their options and simply ask yes or no. If it’s too high based off what the needs survey suggested, I then custom make them a plan to better fit their needs. A client will buy the agent before they think about buying the insurance. If the people here that talk bad about AIL because they did not make sales, it’s probably not the company’s fault or the way they do business, it’s more than likely, the agent just didn’t seem confident in the products they were presenting and they weren’t perceived as a trust worthy agent.

That definitely has not been my experience with this company. The issue is that agency owners may operate there businesses differently. The PR team that build the relationships with the Unions actually forbid some of the tactics that I am hearing here. The Union provides benefits, the agents job is to go over those benefits, you discuss the need for life insurance if there is a need. If there isn’t one then it is not a problem. You are never to do high pressure sales or sales tactics. That actually against what they stand for. Bad actors will always make the good ones look bad.

Yeah I highly disagree. I was definitely pressured to sell insurance regardless of need. Most of my leads were retired people who would be paying a grand a month for whole life. They *required* me to give them a list of family and friends as leads, and they absolutely gave us "free" AD&D and child safe kits solely for customer information for new leads. That information immediately went into the lead packets even if they explicitly stated they have no interest in life insurance

Same here. I’ve been with AIL for a mere two months. Got promoted within my first month! Not saying it was easy by no means. As far as the leads go, they are “warm leads” and we have different types. The union member leads actually have nothing to do with our child safe kits we offer (at no cost). Our union, association, and credit union member response cards are filled out and based on an AD&D life policy for different benefit amounts. The members nor the unions, associations and credit unions pay anything for these policies. If the unthinkable were to happen, AIL pays out the policy as agreed upon.
Everyone we visit with gets the same no cost benefits and an opportunity to enroll in optional benefits. I personally don’t pressure anyone to purchase life insurance. Insurance is something either someone wants or doesn’t. If they want it, 9/10 will buy solely based on the agent in front of them. If they like the agent and trust that person, they will buy, if not, then they probably won’t. It’s just that simple.

After one week of writting $6k ALP which is nothing, I was "promoted". The goal is to get as many people in the door as possible and keep the offices staffed and mask the revolving door. Then they send out an agent who is 100% commission to these appointments. The clients are not home or are expecting something free. They have this routine where you are supposed to spend 4 hours on the sales process wearing them down. The tub starts out at $25k. Then they offer last years model for maybe 15k and offer financing. It's a very difficult sale and even if they agree, they may get financing denied. Horrible business model, but they are making a killing.

Just my opinion. I have met some pretty messed up recruiters but the company did not support their behavior.

I would if I was you. I worked there 3 months untill I realized that they was lying to get union members signed up and it wasn't the child safe kit tatic they used. They'd call the union member who's union did give them a free $2,000 accidentally policy and they say they was calling to sign your beneficiary up incase an accident did happen and then we set up a zoom meeting and then that's where they try to sell you on everything else and tell you about the child safe kit and if you declined your beneficiary never got signed up incase you did have an accident. So there are all kinds of union members out their with a free $2,000 accidentally policy that ALI has no clue who to give to when something does happen cuz they DO NOT sign the beneficiary up, the whole reasoning you think you are setting up the zoom meeting for. I talked with one of their agents about getting hired today, and they metioned a shadowing experience for a few weeks before going on the job. This is where I'd learn from another sales agent on their schedule; that could be a good experience. The license has me overly critical about the job; otherwise, I'd just be investing my time, which I can afford now. I'm considering what to do and taking everything I heard with a grain of salt, including what I heard from this video and the agent I talked to today. WOW! So, obviously this entire video is completely biased. But to each their own! lol So, if Bucky would have gave the job a fair shake, he would have learned how these things ACTUALLY work. There is no "bait & switch" everything was laid out honestly and upfront. Not sure who you dealt with but that it NOT how the whole organization operates. This is not any MLM stuff either. lol I think if you really knew what you were talking about you would be able to actually make some valid argument but to me, it just seems like American Income Life is giving you a run for your money. The amount of training and information I received from start to actually beginning training was more than any other job I have ever had. I make it a point to clearly let recruits know the possibilities and that 100K is NOT expected right out of the gate. I was recently promoted to a GA position and have been very successful. I find it a bit humorous that you have so many videos pointed at AIL lol Seems like you are trying to do the same thing you said we do except you are trying to negatively impact someone else's business rather than focus on yourself. You do not see slam videos from other companies on their competitors. I think it is childish and quite frankly borderline defaming. I'm all for educating the mass to the truths about life insurance but tearing down another organization to try to get ahead yourself is downright deplorable. But, hey, the insurance industry is a tough one and you hit the nail on the head, most newer agents do not succeed. I do wish you the best of luck with all of your future endeavors.
