Hi Tomo! Do you recommend using a metronome while making longer loops like 12 bar blues? The Bb Jazz Blues walking bassline lesson at Guitar Wisdom is fantastic. Great detailed instruction. So fun to play along slowly. The chromatic exercise challenge really helped me. I love practicing everyday, but Saturday morning is one of my favorite times to learn, work hard and have fun. What a year! Thanks for all your hard work here and at Guitar Wisdom to help us be better Looking forward to what you have in store for the year 2025! We're living in the future!
Yes! Totally! Practice rhythm guitar & bassline. With a metronome is plus! This lesson, I want to keep it as simple as possible so I did not introduce a metronome. So happy to hear that. Guitar Wisdom Walking Baseline lesson is one of very popular lessons beside Major scale lesson on Essential Theory section. Good job! Chromatic scale exercise is the key to play guitar well. You're very welcome! Thank you for subscribing my Guitar Wisdom. Please watch all Guitar Wisdom Live Stream videos. Happy 2025!
Playing that bass line consistently and perfectly for an extended period of time is not so easy as it might seem. The mind tends to wander and I screw it up, as simple as it is. Another great lesson. This has become my favorite channel.
Meanwhile playing a bassline consistently and perfectly involves a lot of micro variations and these variations are critical to the sound. You get none of this with a loop pedal.
Hands down the best backing track video I have watched. Thank you for this. I have tried to figure out how practice to get the BB King sound for years and now I think I can actually do it!
Thanks! I really enjoyed the whole lesson! It's very gradual...you can get useful suggestions whatever you're level is. I also appreciated that you have explained the more sophisticated jazz chords at the end of the video!!
This is very helpful on looper equipment and provides me more direction to try. This is all inspiring to my jazzy blues goals. Clear notes, quiet space, and solid rhythm. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! May the new year bring you and yours good health and happiness! Wishing you all the best in the New Year!!
Happy New Year Tomo! Aside from being a masterful player, your teaching style is uplifting and easy to understand yet challenging to carry out. Thank you for these gifts.
Happy new year! So happy to hear that Guitar can make you so positive! Life is a challenge and guitar is fun & challenge. You're very welcome! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome! So happy to hear that! I was very busy so I made this pretty quick! Originally I was expecting to make less than 10 minutes video. But clearly I failed!
I'm going to watch a lot of your videos over the winter break! I don't know if I'll be able to put it into practice though😅 Thanks for talking about the equipment!!
You're very welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful! I really felt that I did this too long! My goal was " Simple & within 10 minutes. I totally failed that part! You're very welcome! Happy New Year!
Ive been hard of hearing since birth and wear 2 hearing aids. I have been learning to play a guitar and I'm loving it. Not perfect but do enjoy the sound of music a guitar makes. I love metallica, Steve Ray Vaughan, and Ozzy with Randy Rhodes.
I love your Duo Sonic! Fantastic jazz licks... That's an excellent video about making backing tracks. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, I hope you have a fantastic New Year's. 💜👍
I recommend the one stomp ‘stop’ Electro-Harmonix 720 looper & Beat Buddy drum pedal instead of a metronome. Learn to play all the guitar parts in the music you play. Thank you Tomo.
Thanks for sharing your suggestion. For this lesson, simplicity is very important. You already mastered using a metronome so you can enjoy! You're very welcome!
Playing with a loop pedal taught me how bad my time feel was especially when I comp sparsely on a simple 1 2+ pattern. It made me go back and work on the basics. When I played with other people I thought I was in time but I think they were carrying me. It's not so easy with just me and the pedal 😅
Happy new year Tomo-sensei! Thank you for your videos once again, watching them and practicing guitar is so fun! I was wondering if your book Playing by Ear & Feeling is going to be released in english anytime soon? Sorry if you get asked a lot about it!
Happy New Year! Yes. Title will be changed. I cannot say when but in 2025. I am working on that now. No problem! I just cannot say when until official announcement. Thank you so much! Please join my Guitar Wisdom.
Dear Tomo 🤗 Wishing you and your loved ones 🎉 🎆HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎆 🎉 💫🎉🥳🥂🥳🎉💫 Where everything good and the best of the best and fills your life and theirs in every way and every plan. Kindky:Ivan
How about creating a backing part on a computer, for example by creating a guitar pro's tablature, and playing it back as MIDI? Are there any AI apps on the market that can do that automatically? I use bone conduction earphones that don't block my ears. I can hear the sound of my real guitar playing and the metronome sound from the computer mixed together at the same time.
Thanks for sharing! No. I don't use any tabs. I do my own way to show what, where, intervals, fingerings to use. No apps. All natural and simple way! No good to use a headphone to practice because you cannot hear your finger noise and string noise. Very difficult to hear important nuance.
I do agree it's better to do your own simple backing track to work on improvisation, and other things, than to use TH-cam backing tracks. TH-cam backing tracks, as you explained, contains too many informations and are not good to work on your instrument.
I love the Digitech Trio Plus! What a cool quick rhythm section & choices on same track. Very useful. This lesson is more about "Parts" Simple bassline... R 3 7 Swing Groove... Bb Jazz Blues Walking Baseline... purpose is to learn these simple parts and in order to keep them in tempo and steady groove.... learn about consistency so it's all about guitar technique!

Your playing to a 12 bar blues bass shuffle?? How the heck is it gonna be static?? Lol. Like, so common in blues it's crazy. You might want to check out some excellent shuffle blues. Pretty much exactly what is happening here.
You're so correct in your setting. This video is simply my answer to my subscribers. How to use a looper pedal and someone who is not good at playing simple blues chord progression yet. Concept in this lesson is very simple and very important for beginners & intermediate guitar players. Thank you so much for your input! As performance.
