Hi Matt, just a reminder to install the safety clips on those new racks. Those little clips are really a life saver when using the fork lifts to load and unload, but I'm sure that your aware of that. Anyway the shop is looking great and your progress will be very beneficial soon enough . Keep up the good work.

One simple way to manage restocking is to write the part detail and bin capacity for that part on an index card and stick the card towards the back/bottom of the bin, ideally with enough bags beneath/behind it so that you don't run out before you're able to restock. When you empty the bin to the point where you reach the card, remove the card and place it in the to do pile for restocking. When you have time to refill bags, grab a card and it already has what part is needed, the quantity for each bag and now many bags you need to make to refill the bin. Just remember to put the card back in the bin with the correct number of bags behind/beneath it. This eliminates the need to visually inspect and keep a mental note of what is needed. This makes it easier to manage help, too, since what needs to be done is all there in the pile of cards. I think it's called a kanban.

Call this video the Cremona Shuffle. "Hey everybody get out on the floor were gonna make you happy you can't expect more. Busy as bees working all the time, putting a & b together to make a new project even if there's no time. Overloaded is the way I seem to work, keep the wheels turning or I just can't perk. There is always more space if I run out of mine. I can store more there, when I have more time. I am on a journey to be able to see it all. To have everything in order a home for items A to Z. And when I am done with that. Well, get ready to go grab another tree."

Having had my share of ladder "accidents" consider a rolling stair ladder with a cage that can extend upward to reach items up high. Not only will the rolling be easier to relocate the ladder rather the carrying it, the cage provides additional safety. ( It also provides a wider base to stand on if more height is needed (grin)).

Things like where you bought them, maybe how much if you feel like mentioning the price paid, what to look for when buying equipment, how to transport (chains, trailer, what kind of towing capacity a truck would need (obviously you need a semi and a low boy for the tele hander. Do you contract that out to a trucking company if you needed it moved somewhere?) and probably the biggest one...what kind of maintenance is needed?

I like how your computer system is organized for videos, etc,. So much nicer when things are being inventoried in the shop for easy access & accountability. Personally, I try to have my laptop well organized as well, bcuz it's easier to find things when they're done that way.
Here's an idea; what about putting up something like sturdy paper towel hangers on the wall for rolls of tape so that you can have them within reach of your staging area, or... have a modified version on the sides of the tables itself.

Believe me, I understand about your to-do list... I have a prioritized list, some items of which have been on there for 3-4 years already! Like you, I'm not lazy -- but each day, new items get added to the list, some of which are higher priority and bump the original item down. Eventually, over time, the older items start becoming higher priority all on their own (like the driveway cracks have gotten worse), so they creep back up to the top of the list! I will say, if I had a day of crossing items off my list like you just had in this video, I'd be VERY happy!!!

Hi Matthew, I have been watching for a long time now. I noticed in your names of files especially for the months you get a hodge podge of viewing your files. I would suggest to get each file in numerical order add the zero in front of the numbers 1 through 9 ( 01, 02...09) this will keep file 11 and above 100 from being between 1 and 2. Try and see if you like it better. I would also suggest putting a pallet under each of the top 2 or 3 shelves on your racks. This will help in safety from standing up in the air trying to move heavy and bulky items to just use the fork lift to pull them down and get what you need off or on and set them back up there. Joe

I love your sharing your experiences in the endeavor! One thing that may 'help' until you get your camera gear duplicated, is when I was doing my old house, they told use to make 'boxes for electrical, wall repair, plumbing, etc) and stock with the items that may be pretty cheap (hammer/ tape measure/ pencils), so you don't spend 2 hours of your day trying to find stuff. In your case, I would have a 'camera equipment box' that had those SD cards, batteries, etc.. , if you can afford a second, great, if not (like back in the day drills were expensive,) , you put on teh box 'also want drill'... you can have the same thing on your 'camera box'. Then the camera stuff is also ready for the sawmill/ shop or barn, or other activity. Just an idea.

Amazing difference from where you where on your first videos, you made a great path/progress ... being a computer expert, I would really like to know more about your computer setup, software you use, size of your raw data and size of all your edits and plans...and your backup strategy, because you are so well organized for your shop and barn, I wonder really because of the way you organized your files so well, if the rest is so well setup, and if you made iterations/optimizations of your computer processing infrastructure, or you were setup like that from the get go (thought process)?

Matt, will the newer corner block buckets fit inside the tall blue one? This would raise the smaller tub to a more comfortable height and you wouldn't need to send a kid into the barrel to clean out the last ones. You could get a furniture dolly or a round garbage can dolly to make it mobile.

Might seem like a lot of work but your expeditor/order picker/shipping manager will appreciate the effort 😉
PPSS: I always mounted one fire extinguisher near my sitting area, be it a desk or a break room and even a restroom! Because so often a fire is recognized while people are sitting or sh***ing. And getting to the extinguisher is priority #2. Priority number one is KNOWING HOW TO PROPERLY EXTINGUISH A
