so basically what he was saying is that at the one where the sphere was taken out, the lines would be removed too. you can see that from his drawings where 8 becomes 0 etc .
so after that, he takes the numbers and multiplies it by what was given. in this case, 100×0, 10×5 and just 8 by itself. after that, he got the number 58.

I don't think math had a lot to do with the solution. I confess that I didn't really understand his explanation, but I heard a lot of talk about cryptograms, so to me it seemed like the numbers weren't used as numbers - at least, not at first. I imagine, with my non-math-oriented brain, that it was just a tiny bit like Sudoku in that you can't get distracted by what *look* like numbers if you want to solve the puzzle.

For those who don't understand, here's an explanation! I recommend watching the video along with this explanation.
So starting off, notice that there is a supposed number of dots for each number and letter, which is seven. Those seven dots represent lines and each dot represents a line position (I will explain more in a moment).
Because the problem is asking for the letters (i.e. A, B, and C), begin with the numbers first. The numbers can be represented on a two by three dotted grid, just like on a digital clock. But notice that if you connected all the dots on the grid that you would have seven lines to represent the dots. Below is a representation.

Now, drawing the numbers on the two by three dotted grid (like how Namjoon did), you would notice there are missing spaces. Those missing spaces represent the missing line positions.
The 3 is missing two vertical lines on the left and looking back at the diagram, those missing lines are represented as 2 and 5 (if you count the placements in the given problem), respectively. This will recreate the number 3. Below is a demonstration.

Now, moving on to the letters. The letters are represented by the dots, but DO NOT write them like the numbers with the dotted grid as it will not match the corresponding missing dots. Instead, you use the dotted grid from before and connect all the dots together.
The missing dots, like I said, represent the missing lines. A is missing 4 so A = 0. B is missing 2 and 5 so B = 5. And C is missing none so C = 8. Now, you can solve the problem. (100*0 = 0) + (10*5 = 50) + (8) = 58.
58 is the final answer.
