Look ...Krsna wanted to avert the war so he asked Duryodhana to grant independent rule of mere five villages but Duryodhana turned down his offer and let the war take place....
Then Krsna uttered these lines ..."Now I see no other course open but the fourth- punishment...." Which Krsna tried every possible way to avert the war but in vain and the only way is to fight the war.....

Kunti was endowed with a mantra by Durvasa . Before marriage Kunti chanted that mantra and Karna was born . Infact after marriage none of the Pandavas were born out of their union but with that mantra....
