This is so helpful! I am going through this at age 54. Still having regular periods, but lots of the other symptoms, as well. I am in a brand new marriage of 3 years & my husband supports the changes I'm going through. I cannot take hormones. Breast cancer runs in my family & that is not advised for me. I accept & welcome this process & am so glad to be close to menopause. I have a good therapist & my husband is a Pastor & counsels me, as well. God bless him! The man is a Saint!

I’m after some insight, I’m a guy and I want to support my partner who is nearly 49, I noticed a change in her 2 months ago we’ve been together for 16 months and as of last Thursday she asked for a break so instead of being your typical bloke and doing the begging and pleading I agreed with the break. We did 4 days of not talking and today she told me she has a drs appointment next week she’s going for a blood test and to talk about her symptoms and she mentioned getting her hormones back on track and I have waited for her to reach out to me rather than me bring it up. We don’t live together but I want her to know I’ll support her all the way through, so please from a guy to a lady what can I do to help her

I'm late 45yrs old and I was just told I'm too young to have perimenopause by my Dr. He was so unhelpful, wouldn't hear me out and said they'd said a message to some menopause advice place but doesn't think they'll help... 🤷🏻‍♀️ What the actual! I cover SO many symptoms that have been building over the years.

I've had the same, even though I've struggled with all symptoms plus insomnia since 40's. Doctor put me on antidepressants due to anxiety attacks. She said I was too young to be going through menopause. Blood tests came back as normal. I feel dreadful everyday.

45 is not too young. Peri can go on for yearrrrrs before we actually hit menopause. I am now 49 and I am sure I have been in peri for 5yrs already. Your body knows. I just wish my body knew to curb the rage, the crying, the impatience and the anxiety that comes with it (well for me it does).

It's NOT mostly a natural process. It IS a natural process. I don't take a thing....except the off joint (cannabis) when I can't sleep. Yes, it has been rocking my world. I've dealt with depression and feeling suicidal. I would compare it to puberty. That was MUCH harder because I had to go to school. At 50, I am able to cope much better. I missed my periods for 4 months and felt AMAZING and I didn't mind the hot flashes. Then my period came back and that's when it ROCKS me again. Hang in there sista!

I have been back and fro to the doctors with concerns over perimenopause for 3 years, my hair was falling out low energy levels and mood swings, flushes and brain fog. I was prescribed folic acid and that was it. I went back later and was told the mirena coil I have had for over 10 years would protect me. I am now at my wits end, it is affecting every part of my life, I had to leave my very successful job as a branch manager as I couldn't cope. I work part time now but recently my symptoms have got quite severe, sleepless nights, agitation, severe joint pain, anxiety, brain fog. The list goes on I'm at my wits end. The impact this has on my family and me is immense. I have an appointment in 2 weeks with a doctor and I'm petrified that I still won't get taken seriously, it's so bad that thoughts of ending it all have crossed my mind. I don't want to die but I can't cope with this anymore and the more the gp dismiss how I'm feeling the more it's affecting my mental health as I feel like I'm going coockoo. Any tips on how to approach this appointment would be gratefully appreciated. I don't think I can cope with another consult coming out feeling no-one is listening and I'm gona have to go another 3 years of just 'sucking it up".

Thank you so much for this video, I haven’t felt right this last few months but put it down to stress as at 39 I thought I was too young to be in peri, today your video helped me realise that actually I could be peri menopausal. I have been having intense anxiety, brain fog, joint pains, dry skin, hair loss, low libido and I think I have experienced a hot flash. My periods are much lighter then usual and a bit closer together. Also with some cycles my periods are a bit weird where the bleeding will start, then stop for a day and then start again! Is that supposed to happen in peri?

I would say that you are. I've had all those symptoms plus insomnia since early 40's. Recently had a blood test to check hormones and it came back normal even though I feel dreadful everyday, so bad a few months ago I had a huge anxiety/anger attack that has left me numb on my left side. I am back on antidepressants for anxiety and not being able go sleep. It's hormones but I'm considered "too young to be going through menopause" by my GP. I will have another blood test in a few months when I'm 47. I feel like I can't function everyday It's really horrible.

Really great conversation. I wish more ladies would get involved & share their journey. I was diagnosed with PMSD. My chronic emotional roller coaster ride prior to my menstrual cycle, especially chronic manic symptoms 2-4 days before a period. So manic that I’m afraid of my own self, a feeling of rage, anger & sensitivity, it’s awful. I’ve been on many anti-depressant, none of which has helped. I have Hashimoto which causes me to high sensitivity to meds as it is. The U.S.A. push meds like candy, no one wants to talk about alternatives & root cause. Again, normal periods, you’re fine, just depressed. How can someone be depressed only 2 wks out of the month? Drs need to be sued for causing pain & suffering bc many of us are talking & no one listens. This is serious & we can be a danger to ourselves & others. I’ll def look into HRT. Thank you all!

I'm 42 and have been on HRT since 35 after having the worst time of my life and feeling suicidal. Professor studd listened to me and diagnosed PMDD, Also osteopenia. HRT changed my life for the better, I wouldn't want to go down that dark hole again. Now my sister at 39 is having a hard time and I want her to get help to feel happy and stable instead of crying and feeling not like herself. Unfortunately my GPs don't have a clue about hormones, I was offered antidepressants first but I knew it was my body messing with my mind.

This is great: however it's focussed towards professional people and professional lives: the issue really is the systemic one and understanding how all women experience their lives, how structural stress is creating earlier menopause and how there's been a cultural 'forgetting' of the work done by women in earlier eras to understand the whole lifecycle. The competition in life between women from different backgrounds and ages rather than collaboration has been forgotten only to be re-found as something 'every professional woman needs' ie a commodity. There is knowledge in previous generations that's been hidden and sidelined, just as our mothers and grandparents actual experiences were misinterpreted and sidelined, counterpointed against a prescription template standard in later life of numerous medicines (that have only been tested on young people, mainly men also) that undermine health, mobility and, really the freedom of women to choose their futures, contribute to knowledge and feel confident that contribution is changing other lives for the better.

I’m 52 and started experiencing peri at about 45. Migraines, joint pain, terrible sleep. I didn’t have health insurance at the time but got estrogen and progesterone creams that I continue to use now but I think they don’t help too much. Changing my diet has helped more than anything as I’ve become ultra sensitive to nearly everything. Carnivore or ketovore works fabulous for me and has almost eliminated my migraines and greatly reduced my joint pain. I recently became depressed and asked my doctor for an antidepressant and hrt but she flat out refused me the hrt, saying it’s too soon and I should wait until I haven’t had a period in a full year, which I find ridiculous! My period is just every 3-4 months now and I’ve got vaginal dryness and irritation so I’ll likely find another doctor soon.

All of those risks of menopause were not discussed in the context of diet. What happens when a woman fasts or eats very low carb? When not menopausal, these lifestyle factors will lower risk of diabetes, obesity, CVD, and dementia. So, good chance fasting and low carb will help after menopause as well.

Nobody speaks about perimenopause. Its like denial. Society wants young reproductive woman. Woman internelize this and try to deny it. Very few woman admit it. Celebreties having babies at 50 ,sexy young girls pic on social media etc do not help to brong this subject up. To admit reproductive decline is to no longer be seen. Woman only see the menopause as a 1 year situation and not as a long life process of hormonal decline.

I really don’t understand what the score is with synthetic, bio identical and natural oestrogen. I hear different things everywhere and every time I read something to try to figure out what’s safe I read contradictions.
How can someone get a bad batch of bio identical oestrogen from a private doctor? How can can anything that is identical be also different per batch? And now can a doctor prescribe something that isn’t regulated? And surely a ‘natural’ product which was the third option would be more variable??

Enjoyed this educational talk , thank you. Though, didn’t feel it was particularly inclusive about sex. For 2 women in an LGBT relationship, this can be a “nightmare “. What about all the single women out there not having any sex? At least they have a significant other to share life with.

I’m 39 and am dealing with heart palpitations that feel like my heart is skipping. I have been cleared by a few cardiologist and even seen an endocrinologist who all said I was ok. My ferritin is 22. It’s hard to get a doctor to truly care to find the root cause and solution. What tests could I ask for to see if my hormones are the issue? Please I need help.

Doctors do not have enough awareness of this and this is the main reason they are very hesitant to prescribe it . The single most important thing is to make a course about this , make it an expertise if necessary and let doctors actually go through this course as an upgraded education, they cannot educate their patients if they dont know enough. Next is to raise the levels of awareness of women over 35 to pay attention to their symptoms and how they feel and report their symptoms . I can testify to almost every single symptom of the damn thing all of which came on gradually and I have led a compromised rubbish life for almost 10 years because of a hormone change that I knew nothing about . The worst is your brain where you feel like you are paralyzed , I could not think forget think clearly, lost the ability to focus on anything and lost hope in everything . This is the condition of an educated, aware and woke woman , and because of the stigma even women dont speak to each other about this and it is such a travesty . There is no necessity to compromise on the quality of your life or your drive which comes to a standstill because of a deficiency which can be replenished . Sharing these videos with more women will help educate them for starters.
