Thank you for reaction. 👍"Otyken" [O-tu-k`en] is one of the best Russian "modern folk" groups. Their texts are in Khakass, Chulym and Russian languages. Word "Otyken" in Chulym and other Turkic languages means - "a sacred land where warriors would lay down their arms and talk". Azyan - vocals; Ach - keyboard, throat singing; Kunchari - igil (two string cello); Otamay - komuz (two-three string guitar); Tsveta - vargan (aka mouth harp, jaw harp), drums, komuz, vocals; Maya - drums; Hakaida - bass-drums; Aiko (Muna from this year) - bass guitar. Asyan is the vocalist. Dive into Otyken "Phenomenon" and then "Altay". Your mind will be blown. They are from the Siberian section of Russia. They sing in a mix of languages including Chulyum and Russian. The "horse headed fiddle" is the instrument in question, or "Morin Khur". In this song, many of the intonations that Azyan uses represent sounds of nature. The high pitched sound she uses is representative of a hawk, for example.

Greetings from Scotland! PLEASE, do more reactions to OTYKEN! You will be amazed at their music! They are a Russian Siberian indigenous music group that mixes elements of local folk music with modern pop, incorporating traditional instruments, lyrics, and languages. The band members are of Siberian ethnicities and live in tiny villages along the Chulym river in the taiga of Krasnoyarsk Krai.
I think the band name is pronounced Ah-Tee-Ken... but I might be wrong. They are members of a native Siberian tribe, from north central Asia, and the language they are using is spoken by only about ten thousand people in the world. I first discovered them when they released the single 'Atlay' in a collaboration with Ummet Ozcan, a Turkish throat singer.
Reminds me of Olox, who appeared on America's Got Talent. Great throat singing and wind/bird sounds. My favorite performance is this one: th-cam.com/video/RigbvMvKEFk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lpYzI6rQvp-3_8Bh&t=353
These are not Mongols. They are an Asian people related to the Turks. There are some similarities in the cultures of the northern peoples, including the Mongols. This is reflected in clothing, musical instruments and throat singing. These peoples came into contact with each other and there was a cultural exchange enriching cultures. At the same time, due to the large territories, there was no complete mixing, and each such culture is rich in its own heritage, carries its own history.
Your video is very beautiful. I like it a lot. I have been trying to talk to you for a long time. I am waiting for your response. Please give me a chance to talk to you.🥰

@@AlekseyMikhaleff It does sound very similar. Thanks.
Yes, more please. Other videos have more unique instruments. Just watched a full concert on yt. Amazing show, costumes, musicians and vocalists.
And live performance
OTYKEN AND DIANA ANKUDINOVA! BOTH ARE THE BEST FROM RUSSIA FOR ME! 🎉❤
Оба, несомненно, очень хороши в своем деле. Я люблю ОТЫКЕН, однако, если бы мне пришлось выбирать, я бы всегда выбирал Диану, лично для меня. 😊
@@peterhowells7309 Diana is her own league right?
@@sahinberg Absolutely! With such a unique vocal ability, she has created a new league - all on her own!

They called themselves as Otuken (or Otooken).
Altay song is awsome, sure.
Музыкальный инструмент во рту называется ХОМУС (варган)
👍👏✌️

Many call them a russian band, I would not. I think they are native siberians and their culture should not be conflated with the colonizers.
