I had the honor and privilege of meeting and listening to a live speech of Cleo Silvers on Friday,April 19th ,2024 and as a young Black immigrant woman I’m so grateful to have been in the presence of an elder who is still here and loves and cares for Black ppl!
Hearing what Cleo and the past Black Panther Party did for the people of Harlem and South Bronx touched my heart and she is teaching me what it means to fight for collective liberation.

Thank you for sharing this. They are and still is heroes for all oppressed black people. Now in some black communities violence and drugs have taken over, some senior black people in these communities live in fear. This is disheartening.

Thank you. If I may add, they are an inspiration for other communities as well.

Sickle-cell anemia developed in Northern Africa as a response to malaria where the mosquito bourne disease originated. Malaria attacks human blood cells and causes them to rupture (causes the fever and syptoms). Humans that developed blood cells that were shaped like a "sickle" or curved could better defend against malaria penetrating the blood cells. Red blood cells are normally round and disk shaped. The negative side to this adaptation was that having blood cells sickle shaped causes other problems.

We need more community heath programs in our communities. Also we need a new direction and generation of leadership to improve the community.

We were love. You must understand that Black movements were primarily love. None hated white people. We were not the KKK.
Pro BLACK does not mean anti-White. Whereas Pro-White is almost ALWAYS anti- others; especially anti-Black. THIS is probably the most important factor. Why? Because the KKK has been allowed to remain prominent. Black organizations are almost ALWAYS made to cease and desist. All except NOI and FOI because they pose no threat.

Lack of leadership and presence. Membership was at an all time low after being a national program.
