  • Band of the Welsh Guards and Band of the Coldstream Guards taking part in the last guard change of the year at Buckingham Palace.
    Apologies for some dodgy camera work in places, I tried to follow the bands this time and guess I need a bit more practice of filming on the hoof as it did go t*@'s up in a couple of places, hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment.
    Thank you for watching my videos during the last year, hopefully there will be plenty more to come in the coming year.

    I'm form the Philippines and I've never been to the UK. One of my bucket list is to be able to visit the country someday when I can afford it and experienced first hand the Changing of the Guards. I enjoy all videos about them. Thank you.

      Same! Dream ko talaga makapunta ng UK just to see the bands play! Especially at the trooping of the colour and the beating retreat of the royal marines

    Was that a tribute to Tom Jones or Her Majesty The Queen's late husband the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip.

    Coldstream Guards have a red plume.
    I don't see any in the band, only Welsh... green-white-green.

    I'm curious as to the function/reason for the one member of the band who usually marches towards the rear of the band a few rows forward of the last row. He is in full uniform but has no musical instruments. Also usually another member who is marching directly behind the last row behind the band, in uniform but again no musical instrument. I find it interesting, and am just curios as to their role.

      Jim Kreiling that is the Director of Music (DOM), He is usually the Major of the Band. He is in charge of Musicians. In this case the (DOM) isn't present, so the Bandmaster (BM) has taken his duties for the day. The other member marching behind the Band is the Duty Drummer, He is from the Corps of Drums. He carries the case for the Colour, the Colour is the flag that the ensign carries, which represents the Regiment that the Detachment of Guards is from. Hope this helps!

      @@dcwf45 In the Welsh Guards Band it is their Bandmaster, a Warrant Officer. However in the Band of the Coldstream Guards it is their Director of Music, a Major.

    Why does a platoon of soldiers, especially members of the Household Guards, require 6 police officers to nanny-sit for them in public?

    • @Wabbit_Hunta
      @Wabbit_Hunta 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They're there not there to "nanny-sit" The Guards but they're there to maintain public order, as well as part of ongoing security measures aimed at keeping the public safe due to terrorist threats that could occur.
