I just want you to know that you've been really inspiring. I don't know why but something clicked while watching your videos. About 16ish years ago I started silversmithing and I loved it. As my skills increased, I began making small pieces for gifts and as I got better I started to sell them to people I knew so they could gift them. Everything I did was self taught and there weren't youtube videos back then. I got to the point of setting up a company, finding a shared space, and starting to produce more while working a full time job to pay bills and a part time to support my then hobby. The day I got my companies logo back I was extremely excited and then that was the day my dad died. Then, both my grand parents died within an few months and my life fell apart. I never did get that studio fully operational. I stuffed everything jewlery related away in 2 of those plastic storage totes and lugged those around for years through cross country moves, marriage, and kids. A few years ago I finally got rid of it all when I had to decide between space for family stuff and those bins I hadn't opened in years. I don't know how I found you channel but it really made me wish I hadn't gotten rid of any of it. It was relatively cheap stuff like a no brand name flex shaft but it represented something that I loved to do. I was saving up for a few unnecessary upgrades to my truck but I decided to go another route and set up a studio for myself. I've ordered about 90% of what I could need to accomplish anything by hand at least. I Won't be getting an acetylene setup because young kids and unstable gasses don't mix but by this time next month I should have a few pieces done. Thank you.
You can use one of the new butane torches for all soldering needs. They work very well. Mine was about $50. I hope you keep making your creations. It's good for the heart.❤
Yes definitely, you want the saw to do the work, I’ve found if you not using the right blade for the thickness of you work you often end up pushing too hard and breaking blades as well as when turning many folks try to push which snaps blade

Brilliant video. I have a question, when you was cutting the inside waste of the triangle. Why did the holes that you drilled have to be so small. You had room for a bigger drill bit and make a larger hole. Good video.
Oh you smart smart man! I have a silhouette cutter and can make print and cut stickers for templates. I had thought about printing out but not using my machine to cut them.

Hi Randy, do you have a video on how to clean up work such as your last piece? I thought about escapement files but they are still too big for small areas. I followed Andrew Berry's advice by leaving .5mm to the outside of the line design to then go in and file away to make sure you don't cut into your work piece, but that leaves a lot of filing clean up that I can't get to. @@GomeowCreations Yep, very good blades. I do use them myself. If you want to isolate to only two sizes of blades, the number two, and the number three ( gets the most use ) are my favorites. They hold up well, they stay sharp longer, and I break a lot fewer of them compared to other brands than using beeswax as a lubricant, but I do like The blade lubricant stick from pepper tools
I don't normally do that but I have done 2 pieces that need the line up with one another. It was a mountain range and one part was silver and the other was copper. I have seen other stack things and cut them but never with a lot of details but the out side basic shape for the most part.
How can you tell when you reach the far end of the 6mm hole and need to move the piece and saw back? Do you feel the saw hit the wood? If so, does sawing into the wood dull or clog the blades sooner? Thanks for the great videos!
You can use sand paper, files or diamond burrs to clean it up. You can also throw them into a tumbler for a while but it will also round out a lot of the work but it can be an interesting look as well
This is great. Thank you so much for your videos. I'm trying to combine this and your mountain range video to have an inner cutout of metal that matches seamlessly inside the other. The tricky part is that I don't have that inner unused area that you see in this video to drill through. I'm going to try doing it with the thinnest drill bit I find to see if that will work but I'm worried it will leave a weird circular cut. Any suggestions? Thanks again!
Thanks again for all your good info. I know from some of your other videos that you also use the Knew Concept saw from time to time. My question is about whether you have tried very thin blades (6/0, or 7/0) in the Knew Concept saw? I have been having issues with Rio's Laser Gold blade in these sizes. They pull out on one end with very little tension. Wondering if it's the saw, or possibly the slickness of the blade.
@@GomeowCreations Good info. I do like the saw for piercing because it's much quicker. Haven't experienced the problem with 4/0 blades so far. So looks like I may have to get out my old frame when I want to use those super thin blades. Thanks again for your help.
Your videos are very helpful! Thank you! Do you have one on metals and the best solder to use for jewelry making? I am having some trouble getting my solder to hold together and would love to see some examples of what to use.

I know everyone would love instant everything, but there is something about being a struggling artist that just make us think outside the box. I think I appreciate the struggle because I have been forced to be a better artist. I'm sure many will agree. Actually your wrong about there not being a law prohibiting using any federal or foreighn bank note or coin from being defaced. USC title 18 § 331 is very specific. But i have never heard of it being enforced in decades.
Here's a question I just had to figure out. I ended up stripping the thumb screw threads on my saw. What can I do to stop this from happening and is there a place to find saw parts if needed?
Can you post that comment again with out the link. TH-cam doesn't like then people post links and will just remove the comment so I can't see it. I only know I got the comment because I got a notification about it but I can't click on it to see it 😅 Just tell me the name of the saw frame and I can look it up.
@@GomeowCreations Oh, I didn't know that was a thing. Ok, I got a: Eclipse PS51 HSS Piercing Saw, 11-1/2" Long. I think I might have just bought a low quality saw that has zero grip. So I made that thing as tight as I could get it.
Yeah the cheap saws like that one are very hit and miss. I do suggest getting something a little better seeing if you strip out that frame it is pretty much trash. @@GomeowCreations Thank you for the recommendations. I'm probably going to have to save up before I purchase a new saw. For now, do you think I could get away with rigging it? The small square part of the clamp is still good and it's real easy to get a bolt and wingnut to fit the threads. I did invest in better blades though. Those are awesome.

Do you know what percentage of silver your solder is?
@@GomeowCreations The description only says "shimmering silver in color", so no. But I'll see if I can find out more.
which files do you use or will any do?
What would you use for small and intricate cuts in 1/8" steel?
These kind of saws are not ment for cutting steel like that
You might could use a scroll saw with the right blade.
thanks a heap! you just up'd my sawing skills by 500. yet, if i may ask. would this same tech work on like mother of pearl?
I honestly don't know. I know that the dust from that is very bad for you and if you do work with it, be very careful
How often do you coat your blade?
When they start to make a different sound or start feeling rough.
Can beginners use the GI sheet metal which is super cheap?
What is GI sheet metal?
@@GomeowCreations galvanized iron sheet metal
It is also called like galvanized flashing
That wouldn't be good to use dull your saw blades really fast. Copper and brass are some of the cheapest metals I would suggest using
I know everyone would love instant everything, but there is something about being a struggling artist that just make us think outside the box. I think I appreciate the struggle because I have been forced to be a better artist. I'm sure many will agree. Actually your wrong about there not being a law prohibiting using any federal or foreighn bank note or coin from being defaced. USC title 18 § 331 is very specific.
But i have never heard of it being enforced in decades.
my idol👍
😁👍
Here's a question I just had to figure out. I ended up stripping the thumb screw threads on my saw. What can I do to stop this from happening and is there a place to find saw parts if needed?
What saw are you using?
Here as some of my saw suggestions but they will depend on you budget. Also I have all of these and know they work well:
5 in German Style Sawframe - amzn.to/3BLFHgT
5 in Haymaker SawFrame - bit.ly/HaymakerSawFrame
4.25 in GreenLion Jeweler's Saw Frame - amzn.to/3zFmLyl
5 in Knew Concepts Saw Frame - amzn.to/3f4AG9p
If you are looking for good blades these are the best ones I have used:
NANO Jeweler's Saw Blades - bit.ly/NANOSawBlades
@@GomeowCreations Thank you for the recommendations. I'm probably going to have to save up before I purchase a new saw. For now, do you think I could get away with rigging it? The small square part of the clamp is still good and it's real easy to get a bolt and wingnut to fit the threads. I did invest in better blades though. Those are awesome.

Thanks 😊

Make a vedio on icing a watch I would love to see using a glue
Icing at watch with glue?
@@GomeowCreations yep because everyone doesn't have good machines to work Especially the guys who are planning to do a startup with less budget not pure diamonds
@@GomeowCreations According to your experience any stone that look and shine like diamond and easily available and pls also tell about the glue how can we buy it from anywhere.Thank you
Im a beginner.i will be very happy if you give me one even your oldest saw.thanks much and more power.
Jewelers saws are incredibly cheap 🙄 like $10 - $50
