    Wonderful introduction to effects pedals for the ʻukulele. I had a recent gig with a hula dancer and felt I could have enhanced my music a bit. My main instrument is a six string tenor since I am a strummer. The short examples of combinations at the end got me really excited about the possibilities. Especially the tremelo with the chorus. Thank you for helping me enhance my music. Mahalo!

    I'm so happy to see you do this. I've been looking at the Zoom, but I put my toe in the water with a little PockRock first. It's a blast! I guess I have a little guitar envy LOL. You gotta rock once in a while. One thing you didn't mention was the drum machine. Seems pretty useful even with an accoustic sound.

    Facebook chatting with Jake S. late one night (as he changed strings), I got a looper recommendation for a Boss RC-1 and bought that. I also have a pre-amp that I’ve only used twice (the K&K passives I have on two of my ukes do fine without preamp, and my Mi-Si is its own pre-amp), and, so far, for reverb and chorus, I use the options built into my Fishman LoudBox Mini. But eventually I may want more effects, and I appreciate the review. Thank you, Barry!

    A very great number of years ago, I helped someone design and effect that now that I think about it would be a really good one for a Ukulele. It may be on the market, I really don't know but here is what it basically did.
    The first stage picked off the signal amplitude for one path and did an "overdrive" going to a different path.
    The second stage modified the "overdrive" signal in sort of an extreme chorus like effect this could include shifting the notes down as much as two octaves.
    The 3rd stage took the amplitude signal from the first and used that to control the gain applied.
    The result was a thing that sounded like a second instrument was playing along.

      Good choice, and Matt is a lovely person. To be honest, any effects pedal will be fund. • @GotAUkulele

    You mentioned fluorocarbon strings. On another uke, perhaps a hollow body acoustic-electric all other things being equal, will type of string- eg fluorocarbon vs Aquila, make a difference in how the effect pedals sound with the ukulele?

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It will make a difference but only insofar as the same difference to the core acoustic tone. With a nylon strung uke using a piezo pickup, all that pickup is doing is amplifying the core acoustic tone. I've never found different strings suit effects better - in fact effects tend to blur the lines between different strings anyway.
