I served in this state for 43years and had the opportunity to be stationed at Shimla for 25 years, in different positions at different times.
@Stranger Thing I had been serving in a capacity, that I was to maintain aloofness. Moreover I never thought of settling at Shimla, after retirement, may that I never had the money to afford to build an extra house for summer stay. I held such posts where earmarked, rent free accommodation was provided, so I never felt the necessity of owning my own house.

Lovely. Had been there only a month back. Very scenic views all over. Stay in Cecil was memorable with view. Jhakhu monkeys smartest of the lot . Having heard about them had kept our specs well guarded. They are smarter , one took my wife,s pashmina shawl and sat on the the tent roof holding It as if he is holding. We offered Prasad ( whole packet) to him. He left the shawl ,took his pack. What was surprising was there was another monkey, who did not take the shawl again. Some ethics and rules. We got the shawl abs intact. Our driver told it is auspicious. So much of screaming and commotion, it was a very beautiful memory. One can feed them on palms. I did. Beautiful narration. Really loved it. Cover beautiful and resorts of nearby places like Green Valley , Naldera and Narkanda. One of the most beautiful resorts. Wildflower Hall. Small correction. Think Oberoi,s first property was Clarke,s and not Cecils Enjoyed it. And so the other one Manali to Lahaul. Thumbs up

Got to hear from my grandmother that she was born in Dehradun and lived in Chakrata. Later, they moved to Shimla In 1947, we migrated to Pakistan I hope that a game of Pakistan team to be held at Dehradun Cricket Stadium in 2023 Cricket World Cup so I shall get the tourist visa to visit this place. after knowing about it, Shimla and Dehradun have a special place in my heart as I have for Lahore and Skardu where I have spent my time...

Apart from Shimla the whole state of Himchal Pradesh is naturally beautiful and the people are extremely friendly too.
