  • I've been skating these @Powerslide Inline skates NEXT 90mm with the @Kizer Frames for the last month now and they've been proving to be quite the little powerhouses on the streets.
    Check out the video to see me skating around FSU, the local Pump Track and FINALLY hitting the downtown Tallahassee area to have some fun.
    After a quick 3 minutes of clips, I break down the PROS & CONS of these aggressive/urban fusion big wheel blades.
    If y'all haven't found yourself on a pair of BIG WHEELS yet, I recommend very strongly that you give it a shot.
    Anywho, STAY SAFE!

    Good review bro. I fitted many skates and most of them are tight on that arch. Now I skate the Arctic Grey 110's and can relate to that unreal pressure point you describe. However... I SOLVED it!! Try this and see if it works for you: Don't 'just' heath the liner and put it on. Put tissue's on all the pressure points on your foot. Make it's stuck there with some duct-tape or something. Then put on your socks. (I doubled up the tissues on that same arch pressure point). Then heath up the liner and do as described: Put the skate on really really tight. I repeated this 2 times with both sides with a slight adjustment with the tissues to create some more space. Now they fit like slippers ;) When I just bought them I couldn't skate for 5km without pain or blisters. Now I skate 30km's with the feeling of fluffy stuffed animals hugging my feet.

      @gcg8187 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      can you describe that again? I don't get what you mean. Heath the liner? What do you mean by socks? The tissues? Can you re-explain normally please

    • @70109004
      @70109004 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think I understand, basically first you make your foot bigger than normal with the help of tissues and wear socks on it, and after wear the liner, when you heat the liner it will reshape of your bigger foot, and after that put the skates in a very tight situation and help to reshape the liner, and repeat the process until you satisfied, one thing if I don't have a heat gun, can I use a hair dryer?
      I'm looking for new skates and I like free style street skating, looks like this one suits my preferences more than fr1 310, thanks for the tip if I have any issues about pressure points I'll definitely use your method

    So the pressure point problem can be helped if not completely fixed by using a heatgun or hair drier on hot to heat up & soften the plastic in the area you feel discomfort/pressure, then putting your foot in snugging the skate down & letting it cool around your foot. Oh yeah & the pressure points are an insanely common problem/quirk with urban hardboot skates because of the molds they base the skate off of are standardized and so if your foot is any different at all then the mold or if the mold is weird, you have a good chance of having pressure points.. & welcome to larger wheels & the freedom they provide! & Greatings From Lakeland/Orlando !

    Great review! I got mine about a month ago too and absolutely love them. Luckily I haven’t had much of a fit issue, the first couple of session my feet were a little sore. What I have been most surprised about is the quality of the wheels. I skated almost 300 miles on them so far and they are still in great condition. i really believe that the flux frame was at 1st a USD AEON type kit : trinity, real soulplate and frame all in one, but then someone high up panicked / decided that there couldn't be 1 product embracing both PS and USD so rather than trashing the concept they botched it all up. Still, one of the few decent 4x90 frames out there. Great review, super smooth riding and i could feel the heat from those street shots!!!

    Matt, love your vids man! I just started skating again this past April and it's been going very well! I have a pair of Twister Edge X that I purchased in 2018 but could only get 3 rides because my knee joints and back were just too much! I've slimmed down since so I have less pain and I've been skating everyday to get my muscle conditioning up there and it's been working great for me. The problem with my Twisters is that I'm getting hotspots on the inside upper part of my arch when I skate for more than an hour. Not cool and sucks big time! I used to aggressive skate when I was younger so I was looking at the Aeon 80s but I'm not really looking to do grinds and tricks at my age anymore, lol. I don't want to tweak or injure anything. So I found the Power slide next 90s and I'm thinking perhaps these might be the ones for my city skate flows that I'm heavily leaning towards now. Which of the 2 (Aeon 80 or powerslide next 90) would you recommend me? I'm really just looking for a super comfortable boot that breathes well and has good power transfer. Thanks for any help and keep the vids coming!

  • @J_Doozie

    Yeah, i bought the Next 80's and had these pressure point issues even after heat molding the liners and doing the heat gun/back-of-the-screwdriver method on the shell of the boot...got so fed up with it that i got the Zoom 100s since i read that they have more room and they definitely feel alot better. Only problem is that i feel like Im literally skating in wet sand. I mean, i come to a stop almost immediately. Been skating for over 20 years, so i pretty well know what I'm doing. So i put the 4x80 frame on the Zoom 100 boot and now i have a pair of Nexts and a 3x100 frame that i dont use. Good marketing strategy, i guess.

      Wait a minute, you've got pressure points at all 4 points where the strap meets the boot?!?
      So what exactly do you do with the heat gun? Warm up the area and just push it out from the inside a tiny bit? I've never heat gunned anything in my life haha
      I LOVE Tallahassee.
      Which Next's do you have??

    • @VandKoala
      @VandKoala 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Matt Burke yes, I would say even going lower than you showed in the vodeo. The skate is more narrow when it goes down, so taking out shock absorber did not help me.
      I take out buckles and straps in the area before heating, so that the metal won’t heat up and make holes. I take a large screw driver and use THE HANDLE of it to push the softened plastic a bit out.
      I think you can see the result on my review that I did a week or so ago.
      I have the Arctic Greys that came with 3x110, but I have replaced the frames into 4x90. Love the 4x90!

      @@taraslife Yes! But I also unlaced the first 3 eyelets on the boot and laced up the Myfit Liner up to the ankle instead to relieve some pressure. Also, I took it a step further and heat molded the Boot! Yes, you can heat mold the boot because it's made of fiberglass, but had to remove the frames to do so!

  • @PhantomGett
    @PhantomGett 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I picked a pair of the Next 90 Core up recently. I've had the same issues. I actually really dislike the liners that came with them. Tried a pair of Skinny Fit Liners too, but so far the most comfortable liners have been the stock Flying Eagle liners that came in my F6S Falcons. I've really wanted to love the Next 90's, but they give me shooting pains up my leg, definitely more prominent on my left leg than the right one though. Major pressure point right near the 45, like the boot is torquing my foot in some strange way. I'm not really sure, but I haven't solved it.
    I'd picked these up along side the F6S Falcons, and a pair of Reign Kronos as well. The Kronos post-baking has become my preferred skate, being right behind the F6S for comfort. However, the Kronos is faster, it's definitely less durable for urban skating. But since my skating background is mostly hockey, it's been perfect for getting back into it. The Next 90 end up faster than the F6S, but slower than the Kronos, and they currently lag behind the other two in comfort by a lot. I've considered contacting Powerslide to see if they can do anything about it, because it really is just awful to skate in for any length of time more than like, 10-15 minutes.
    The Kronos have one strange pressure point on the outer edge, near my pinky toe even after baking, but that's really the worst of the Kronos. The F6S has been comfortable until my atrophied skate muscles start screaming.

    Thanks for sharing your experience on these skates. It's good to see someone that has faced similar problems. As for me, I was getting blisters in the same area as you were getting pressure points, but after some time I figured out how to reduce the friction with the right combination of socks and tightness of the skate. I'll see if removing my heel lifts can give me more comfort too. btw I skate the next core 80s.

    • @MattBurke820
      @MattBurke820  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems like a LOT of us are dealing with this similar issue! Which is annoying because the skates are so, so sick and so much fun, but the amount of pain caused has been the only real bummer I've come across.
      Definitely try removing that heel lift if you don't mind a flatter ride, just make sure to have a nice insole in the liner to cushion any gaps or stair rides and whatever else.
      How do you like the 80's?? Do you mainly city skate with those, or what's your preferred type of skating?

      @mobyzwick6612 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got my pair of powerslide nexts about 3 weeks ago, about the same time you got your 90s, so your initial review of them came in handy as this was my first pair of powerslide skates. I was looking for something that I wanted to spend money on and keep skating and reinvesting in. I did skate 80mm K2s before but those weren't really doing it for me anymore. So far I feel very much at home with the 80s. Since I am rather new to skating (started about a year ago), I'm currently experimenting on my skates trying to figure out my style. I do like the wizardy/slalom type of skating, although I don't have a rockered setup to fully embrace it. On the contrary, I mostly skate on the streets, so I like the speed and the amount of control and support my 80mms give me.

    for those worried about the pressure point honestly just try the heat gun plus screwdriver method! I just bought these, immediately felt the pressure point, did the heat gun thing, and it was gone immediately the next day. Don't be afraid to let the plastic melt n really push it out. After you put the straps back on you won't be able to tell at all. If you're gonna spend this much money on a pair of skates might as well as go all out.

    I have the next 125 in white and I had the same problem as you but only on my left foot, I was taking my skates off and literally had a screw shaped hole in my foot from the 45 degree strap, I basically ended up putting a plaster on the area for a while and eventually think my skin ended up toughening up and it's not to bad now, only get pain if I have been skating for a good few hours and it's not to bad, but it's obviously a design flaw if everyone is saying the same thing

      So the pressure point problem can be helped if not completely fixed by using a heatgun or hair drier on hot to heat up & soften the plastic in the area you feel discomfort/pressure, then putting your foot in snugging the skate down & letting it cool around your foot. Oh yeah & the pressure points are an insanely common problem/quirk with urban hardboot skates because of the molds they base the skate off of are standardized and so if your foot is any different at all then the mold or if the mold is weird, you have a good chance of having pressure points. P.S hope this helps

    Within regards to the pressure point, try using a heat gun to the outside of the boot, just to pop out the pressure point. I’ve owned multiple boots where I’ve had that exact issue. After heating and popping that small section out, everything has been good...give it a try if you still haven’t achieved the level of comfort you’re looking for.

    The pressure point is unfortunately very real. I'll look into removing the heel support you mentioned - I hope it works because I have a nasty bruise on my right arch from my first skate today! For the 45 degree strap you can just swivel them down out of the way while lacing up so that they're touching the wheels instead of the laces!

    Thank you for this review!
    I see it's a bit dated, but still relevant enough to teach me, and the comment section is golden!
    I havent skated in years, many years. I was into ice hockey, and those skates can be terrible to break in.
    Had Lightning TRS skates back in the 90s. (Yes, I'm old).
    Just bought my daughter (7yrs old) some skates (not expensive, kids grow fast..), and i need to be able to take her out to the city and skate park.
    Went iceskating recently with some Bauers, and was able to do all the tricks no problem... still got it!
    Was thinking about inline hockey skates, like the Bauer Vapor, but then saw these, and i want the best skate without going over $600.
    My question: Did Powerslide fix this issue?
    I want skates that have fully adjustable rockers, and the Next Charcoal 90 seem to have VERY adjustable rockers!
    I dont see why skates would not have adjustable rockers, doesn't make sense to me at all. Having to use various sized wheels seems silly.
    Oh, also, are these Trinity frames made with the ability to remove the two wheels for a single wheel in the middle?
    That's cool if so!
    Thanks again!

    A thorough review without any complaints of plastic frames, appearing satisfactory. I was absolutely new to aggressive skating, I would've attempted if twenty ages younger. (Correct me if so, I guessed frames of aggressive skates were never metallic but always plastic.)
    The places appeared nice, neat, and clean. It seemed too empty with slight uneaseness, no other living things around. However, your skating around meeting little hindrance or avoidance to go around, that really transcended into something like free spirit or being care-free / worry-forgotten. How many miles were past around the city and campus!
    I became interested in these 90mm skates with superb plastic frames. Would they be capable of 12~20 miles of cruising with ease as other urban/fitness skates typically with aluminium frames? Thanks.

    Wow! I don't know where to start! Ok, so back in the 90's when blading exploded I rented a pair of "Rollerblades" (I am that old) and the employee told my girlfriend (now wife) and I "the grass is your friend, head for the grass if you are in trouble!" So first of all, I can't believe you hit that drop rail with a soul grind, you got balls! But in that case the grass was truly your friend! I think the Kizer Flux frame might be OK for makios only? The type of city/urban/freeride, whatever you want to call it, that you are doing on these skates is my favorite kind of blading. So your video makes me want these skates! But the pressure point thing is a concern. My foot is not crazy wide but I'd say a little wide so... I think the guy from Rolling Family used a heat gun to widen the plastic shell on his Next boot! That pump track! So cool! The cops in your town seem cool too! Stay safe and keep up the great content! It must be getting hot on Florida. It's getting toasty here in Dubai. Great video man!

    Mine give a little.preasure point at times, but I think it's totally. Dependant on your foot shape. They are quite a narrow Fitting skate. I use a My Fit 2nd skin liner which gives a little more room. That shock absorber is too stop your heels getting busted. Maybe look for a smaller one? Or put your dr scholls insole in there instead. Very good review! The skate is truly amazing. Saw the soul grind you tried to perform and I think you may have approached this the wrong way. In the clip it rather seems that you got wheelbite on the front foot. This not having an H-block, my guess would be that you'll most likely nail some fun sliding on these, doing Mizous. If you trail the back foot far enough you'll actually be grinding on the frame plastic. In any case, skate safe bro!

    I have recently bought PSlide Next. I wish I had watched your video earlier. My right boot seems to fit perfectly but I'm having the same issue with the pressure in left boot in the same spot as you have. 2 hours of skating and I have my own bruise... Removing heel support didn't help at all (removing it will not be the best option since I need this cushioning when landing). Also I've added additional screw washer to this 45 degree strap because the screw was too long and it was hurting my foot. After spending so much money I expected the highest quality, unfortunately I got my bruise instead. What did you do with your issue? Did you return your skates? Did they take it back?

    • @GenePavlovsky
      @GenePavlovsky 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Pressure points are not an issue with skates quality, it's a fit issue. Any skates will fit some feet great, and cause pain to other feet. You just need to find the skates that are a right fit. Or modify them to fit, if the mismatch is small (i.e. heatgun "punching out"). For the screw issue, a washer is a quick fix, another option that adds less complexity/weight is to grind off the tip of the screw.

      If that does not work, definitely try a heat gun. GO SLOWLY, take out the liner and the strap. I started with a 300 degree F heat setting and kept it constantly moving around the spot until it got nice and hot, then I pressed with back of screwdriver which I wrapped to give it a little more surface area. After 3 different sessions and heat cycles, I finally got it to be comfortable. I did both boots since I felt the pressure in same area on both feet.

    I'm watching this one year after I've had my Next skates, and for the longest time I've noticed some discomfort around my right arch only, so it's vindicating that you mentioned this. However it's nothing as serious as what you mention, luckily! My biggest complaint about these is how bulky they seem, as I'm wanting some great slalom skates. Why the dorky half-ass soul plate??

    • @wolfiezsnb8824

      It's actually not a bulky mass feeling wise & it's not a super heavy skate unlike the look. Dude you just locked in the wheels, you can clearly see it in the rail clip, it is not the skate's fault... if you never skated big wheels before, wheel bite is something you must be aware off.
    Reggarding the pressure point, it is super common for people coming from aggressive, as our feet get deformed over time due to unsupportive flat boots. I have no pain on them myself but also feel they are more comfortable without the shockabsorber. Since you have the option to remove it it is not a flaw IMO, but you can also try to heat mold the liners and see if they feel better. Now I am skating the NEXT without the 45º buckle, but laced all the way until the top eyelet and that's the best setup for me, give it a try. Nice video BTW!
    If you have wide feet I would recommend you the ZOOM boot instead the NEXT.

    • @MattBurke820
      @MattBurke820  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My front wheels definitely locked and caught, but my soul foot completely locked on it as well which forced all my weight to push onto the front frame. Definitely user error more than anything, but it was too funny for me to not share haha
      As for the boots, I've removed the 45 degree strap, heat molded the liner, removed the shock absorber and I've started wearing 2 pairs of thick socks when I skate and there's STILL pain. My feet are comfortable as far as the footbed is concerned, I just wonder if my right foot is bigger than my left or if there's something in the right boot design. I've talked to literally dozens of other people who have the exact same issue only with their right boot, though... which is just weird either way ahah
      Honestly, I'm not sure I have a wide foot, but I may look into the ZOOM boot if that's made for wider feet. I LOVE the Next boot and this whole setup, it's just that 1 pressure point that is unforgiving hah. One of these days I'll heatmold the actual boot and see if that can offer some much needed relief
      I appreciate you checking out the video!

      I started on a 4x90 & now my main outdoor setup is 3x110 they're both quite similar in the way of height {if you get 3x110 trinity it's the same as 4x90 165 mount height wise) so similar balance feel the 90s are better at stability moves such as 360s then the 110s but they're not quite as fast, similar cornering feel you can carve a little deeper with 110s so slightly sharper turns I guess but overall 4x90 feels a good bit smoother which is nice for downhill & 90s have a little bit easier time & feel when it comes to stoping moves like the powerstop. but for like long slides 110s are a little better.
      so: 110s | 90s
      speed | stability
      sharper turns | smoother
      nicer slides | nicer stops
      harder to do tricks | slightly easier all round tricks Best of luck enjoy!

    Hey Matt, do you agree with the Powerslide's sizing instruction for Next skates? I mean they advise to measure your foot and add 0,5-0,9mm "for extra comfort" when everywhere I look it's being said that skates should fit rly snug and uncomfortable at first. Although I followed with their recommendations and took the 44-45 while normally wear 43 sneaker (I'm 28cm foot size) and just wondering if I choose the right option. Just wondering if you use your true size or did you went size up/down?
    Thanks!

      I went with a size larger as well. My foot length is 260mm, which should be a 40-41 EU according to the size chart. Instead, I went with the 42-43 EU and it fits great.

    Cool video, thanks. Regarding the pressure point near the fixing point of the 45 degree strap, could it be that the screw that holds this strap in place is a little bit too long and intrudes the boot a bit? I recently took my HC Evos apart and when I put things back together I mixed up a couple of screws. One was 6mm long, the other 7mm and I could feel that last one digging into my foot from the inside of the boot. Perhaps a similar mistake happened at the factory? 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️

      I just took some sandpaper to the end of the bolt and it fixed the issue for me.

    I've got 2 Pair's of the Next and they have both cracked on me, Powerslide are sending replacement shells but I'm worried that the same thing will just happen again.
    I've ending up buying the RB Pro X till I get replacements although I'm not enjoying the Pro X.
    I love the Next but I hate that the boots crack and it seems to be a wide spread problem 😔

    I have these skates. Your pressure Point issue is a Personal one. I've talked to others who agree.
    Everyone feet are different and both your feet are different. It's not the skate. It's just that THIS skate hits YOUR issue where other don't. Regardless. It's not the Skate! It's YOUR particular foot with this particular skate. Quit bashing! It's a GREAT skate!

    Do you use all the eyelets and lace it to the top? Its a real hassle to lace this boot and the laces dont seem long enough. I just got mine today and im trying to figure it out after being out of the sport for 20 years.

      They are perfect for me, but I weigh 55kg, so I'm not sure how they'd be for anyone a different size.
      You may need to check the boots, though, if you've got wide feet they might be a bit tight. The boots are very narrow.
      I don't have any recommendations for you, cause these are the only bigger wheel skates I've got, but check out Ricardo Lino, Brandon Drummond, and Thirty & Rollin, they'll have more info for you about all that!
      Good luck finding something!

      Hello mate where do you put the washer?

    • @GenePavlovsky
      @GenePavlovsky 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@lovevibefamily A washer under the head of the screw will allow the screw to do the same job as it does now (holding the strap to the boot) but will prevent the screw protruding into the boot (where it can hurt your foot). In my opinion, if you have such a problem, it's better to remove the screw and grind 1-2 mm of its tip using any of the following tools: Dremel, bench grinder, angle grinder, hand file, sandpaper. Then reinstall the screw, no need for ghetto solutions like washers. But you can use a washer to test the theory that the pain is indeed caused by this screw, which may or may not be the case.

    How are those Kizers vs an aluminum frame I want to try 4 x 90 but can't find any aluminum frames at the moment. I'm just a cruiser at the moment not doing all the tricks for right take a curb here and there. You think they are good for just cruising on vs aluminum?

    • @MattBurke820
      @MattBurke820  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm unfortunately not the right person to ask about this! These frames and the Kizer Trimax frames are the only big wheel frames I've ever skated, so I've got 0 experience with aluminum. I do know that Ricardo Lino has done some videos about that topic, though, and he is way more knowledgeable than me in all that kind of stuff.
      OR Brandon Drummond or Thirty & Rollin would be good resources as well.

    I got PS Hardcore evo skates and they have a trinity mount. I would have thought your PS Next skates would have a trinity mount too. But when I looked at that new frame at the end of your video it looks like a standard mount. The frame looks like a two bolt mount and not 3 bolt like the proper trinity. It's a bit hard to see the frame as the lighting in your video is dark.
    Good luck
