@@MalcolmDewey I've been flat with so much painting with not much inspiration. I started a channel about a year ago painting plein air. Your advice and looking at the work of Arthur Streeton have gave me a revelation. Happy Painting Mate 🎨😊
It feels very awkward for me to use the bigger brush idea...but I’m gonna keep trying it! I really want to paint looser so hopefully this will help me! Thank you so much for the tip! Love your work!❤️
I hope this technique will help me paint looser. I always tell myself when I sit down to paint, to PAINT LOOSER but I end up reverting to my usual tight self. I am about ready to lock my smaller brushes in the cabinet and hide the key. I enjoy the fact you teach in multiple mediums. I started my art journey with acrylics and still struggling with applying loose gestural brush strokes. Do you use the same natural bristle with acrylics?
I am having hard time sectioning tree foliage, from the light and dark. I always tend to be overwhelmed in details. Can you pls share a tip how to section foliage wo them being awkward to look at? Thank you so much!!
Best tip is to half close your eyes and the main shapes will be revealed without details. Then paint those big shapes with a large brush. Usually it's is three main values, dark, mid and light.
Do you think this technique will help you? What do you find most difficult about a loose painting style?
Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure!
Thank you...I’ll give it a go
Thank you!!
great videos Malcolm I have subbed
Thanks for the sub!
I was just telling a friend earlier today that I was thinking of using bigger brushes to help achieve a looser style! Thanks for the encouragement.
Good to hear that Carol.
Just what I need to do, I've lost motivation after painting every week for a year. This will help me. Thx Mate🎨
That is great to hear Tez!
