Dude, beautiful truck! FYI - that coolant pipe can absolutley be removed with the engine/trans still in, just pull the valve cover off and you can access the bolt that holds the pipe to the head, then you have to find the two bolts underneath the intake plenum and it should come right off. That pipe uses an o-ring to attach to the intake, you can pick one up at LC Engineering for cheap Can't wait to see more of this truck man, keep up the good work!
I’ll have to look into that, I figured it might be possible, but man I REALLY didn’t want to take that intake off again after needing to swap because of the broken bolt. I’m glad you’re enjoying the truck so far!
That stuck bolt reminded me of the nightmare I went through a few months ago to remedy a broken lower suspension arm bolt. At first I tried different bolt extractors with heat applied which also ended up braking and made the situation worse because those extractors are made of hardened steel. So I ended having to buy a titanium tipped drill bit set to drill it and the bolt out from the other end. Which then required having to order a titanium tipped tap to tap new threads. From that experience I learned that I would had been better to just gone straight to drilling and tapping the moment I felt the bolt extractor not budging the bolt.
same shit happened to me on my 02 Camry. It needed new struts on the rear and the bolts for the lower (control arms? not quite sure what the right name is lmao) bolts were VERY STUCK on the left side. pipe on a torque wrench? nope. impact? nope. chisel? nope. blue flame torch? nope. finally, an angle grinder was the last ditch effort that just barely got them to move. not quite sure what actually caused them to be THAT stuck but it was a multi-day problem
Hey man, I just found your channel recently and have been super impressed by the quality of your videos. I would’ve guessed you had hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of subscribers! Keep up the great work and I can’t wait to see you go far on this TH-cam journey!
I went to a local junkyard and got the bench seats and console out of a same model 4runner for 100 and put them in my 93 instead of the split bench. Way more comfortable and you only have to make a slight modification to the mounting brackets to get it to work
We bought one brand new at Beck Toyota in Greenwood Indiana in 1993, same exact truck. At 247K it developed a transmission problem, sure wish I had have kept it. Great little truck.
Dude, can I like this video twice? lol Great find, so happy to hear you plan to keep it as your daily. I had a 93’ in green that originally belonged to my dad, it was 2WD though. I hope you restore the paint and polish a bit.
I love my 93 2wd, I had to do some work to it cuz it’s had some abuse. But she runs good now. Either way the 2wd I was very satisfied with how it handled. Put on some beefy shocks and she will corner. My plan for it is to put an LS1 with the 4L60 in it. I have the not so common auto trans that has a giant slipping issue. When it’s colder then 35 out it won’t even go into gear until it’s warm.
Love your energy and positiveness, thats a good looking clean project truck, if there’s one person who can fix the truck it’s you, you know your trucks, hope you can get it running right.
I battled with a sheared off bolt in my 22re Tstat housing just a couple weeks ago. Snapped my extractor off in it, too. After burning up multiple metal drills bits, I ended up using a ceramic/glass drill bit and it cut through the bolt almost effortlessly. I re tapped and helicoiled and all good.
My dad used to have a truck exactly like that. My whole family called it lil’ red and I would love to get another one so I could have a lil red of my own
