I'm really looking forward to this one. Uwe and Ode are two of my favorite designers, so the game was bound to interest me. Watched round 1 so far, and I like what I see, there are many things you can do, and many ways to do it. The action selection mechanism and restrictions are quite clever, and the engine building part looks really satisfying.
Great video. It made me want to play it again. Just a clarification: on 56:38, the card that you score with the 2 points per tree is a misprint. The designer has written about it on bgg. I played that too on my first game and because of all these points it made me search for it. The correct is 1 point per tree.
Inside baseball question: did you guys play this before recording with more players like that person we saw in your bed at Spiels? I love that you guys start with the info then move into the personal, and sometimes reveal the vulnerability of how the game reveals how you relate to yourself and each other as you play.
We usually play with more/all player counts, but as stated in the video, we only had the chance to play with 2 so far! I’m working every evening the next two weeks, but after that, we’ll have multiplayer games again! 🤩
Great review. Dual-layered player boards should be the standard in Euro games now. That is my only issue with Barcelona, that game really needs them. Did you guys run into Daniele Tascini at Essen? Curious what he is working on.
Dual layers can be very expensive - do you guys know of any "constuct your own" like how we punch pieces; could be a way to cut costs if owners of the game are willing to stick their boards together 🤔
@@nib71286 So far, 3 of the games we have gotten from Spiel has had stickers to make our own double layer player boards! I think it's a perfect way to make them cheaper, but still have amazing components for us!
@@BoardGamingRamblings can you show us in a future video - maybe an opportunity for a future gateway rambling video "how to make great games more accessible" 🤷♂️🤔
Don’t you find it odd that you have to stack polyiomino tiles on those squares? I found that so weird. Almost like they didn’t finish thinking it through from a design perspective
I hadn’t even thought about that. It’s a very small deck of something, so I don’t find it weirder than any other thing I have to set up in this or other games, hehe :)
I know the games are NOTHING alike but when I saw how you laid everything out for the playthrough at the start, I was instantly reminded of Bonfire.
That absolutely makes sense!
We so enjoy your videos -- you two are so charming, clear and informative. THANK YOU!!!!!
Thank you for the kind words! That means so much to hear :)

Played it and loved it.
That was quick, you only just got back from Spiel! Great to hear a positive review, I also got the game but haven't had a chance to play it yet.
We haven’t done a lot other than playing games 😂
Wow! Thanks for the quick turnaround on the playthrough and review. Much appreciated ❤
Thank you Stephen! 🤩 We do our best 😁
Thanks for the review! Incredible how fast you got a grip of the game!
Thank you for the game, ode.! Love what you do for the hobby 🤩 Cannot wait to see what is next!

Ah, that is good to know! Glad you enjoyed the video :) Thank you for watching! 🤩
Uwe, Farming theme, spatial puzzle.... Those three are enough for me to cross this off my list.... But thanks for this lovely playthrough and review!
Glad it was helpful, even though the game might not be for you!
Thanks for the video on this one, i was very interested in it coming out of essen. Looks very fun.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful 🤩

I love your t-shirt, Cyndaquil line is my favorite PKMN
regarding the game it looks very colorful, but I think this is not for me.
I love them as well! Glad the video was helpful! Not all games are for everyone :)

I love that more games have dual layers now because of the use of stickers! We didn’t see Tascini anywhere, so sadly cannot report anything! :(

@@nib71286 .
Brazil: Imperial has recessed player boards at the same price point as Barcelona.
